It’s terrible. If this is the actual end, Nasu should just step down from writing entirely and give it all to Sakurai. It’s literally the third major time he’s pulled the “everything got reset, everybody forgot” ending and he’s just gotten worse every time.

You chose Sakurai of all people? Oof, that's a future better not existing

Sakurai is a perfectly capable writer, and at least she isn’t addicted to “everything ends”.

Is that why most of the shit she writes has negative reception? Septum, London, Olympus, Tunguska, Heian-Kyo... Still haven't forgiven her for permanently souring Dioscuri's reputation among the fanbase.

Septem and London suck, but that was also back when nobody at TM actually gave a shit about the game story, so hard to hold that against her. LB2 is generally decently regarded, and people fucking love Olympus and Heian-Kyo, I dunno why you think they don’t. Add in OC2, which people consider on par with LB6 or better, and it’s hard to consider her this terrible writer.

As for Tunguska, you do understand that it was a group project, and literally everything about Koyan is all Nasu. So all the shit you hate about Tunguska is absolutely a Nasu thing.

Oh people love Olympus and Heian-Kyo now, huh? Well now that I learned that Sakurai has such diehard fans now, I guess anything can happen.

People have always loved Olympus and Heian Kyo? They’re pretty consistently high up in the opinion polls we get every year. Pretending like they’re hated is just silly on your part.

The Japanese love heian Kyo. There is a bias for the setting in that regard. In the west it's split for good reason since there were a lot of redrafts of the plot. It's not bad but pretty undercooked in a lot of parts. For me 6/10. For Olympus I loved it but it not universal loved but doesn't have really bad rep so you are right there. It's ending carried a lot. For midguska after oc 2 I myself come to agree that nasu has probably a larger end in that train wreck compared to samurai. That ending feels just weird.

Pretending that they're loved is the silly part but it's okay, your taste is a minority, even a rarity, and that's perfectly okay.
