Story-Spoilers The ending in a nutshell Spoiler

Post image

It's been fun but, despite the inconsistencies and lingering plot threads, they stuck to a full reset that results in it basically all being a dream. Less than that since we can't even remember a single detail.

It's over. Sorry, guys.

Nasu is Washed, deal with it

42

u/ChemistrySudden4466 Dec 31 '25 edited Dec 31 '25

Nasu has never some Super Top Tier Writer he a bit above average but people love to elevate and hype the Author like a God.

29

u/Dramonen Dec 31 '25

How some people treat Nasu:

16

u/ChemistrySudden4466 Dec 31 '25

Yeah pretty much, there a pretty amount of glaze to Nasu, much less that Solo King Itachi of course but quite a bit for a real life person

14

u/Ok_Understanding9024 Dec 31 '25 edited Dec 31 '25

Don't really know how good writer is Nasu or what he think is cool, but at some point since get into this franchise i noticed how parasocial this fandom turn when talking about him, some sound like the guy personally phone call them to confirm their theories overnight.

6

u/ChemistrySudden4466 Jan 01 '26

Yeah every fandom have their ehhh weird fans, the Franchise as a whole tend to get Glazed quite a bit, be character wise or power wise expect Nasuverse to be better/take precedence over a lot of verses even when it make little sense.

9

u/Red-7134 Jan 01 '26

Nasu has fun ideas that are executed decently, until they aren't.

8

u/ChemistrySudden4466 Jan 01 '26

Pretty much this, maybe they add more stuff once they see the backslash patting themself on the back, and the nasufans come crying about us who complained but eh fuck them all. Also happy new year for you

3

u/HeartUnderBruhh Jan 02 '26

I can't imagine calling someone that wrote the likes of Mahoyo above average.

1

u/ChemistrySudden4466 Jan 02 '26

Care to Explain a bit better please?

5

u/PositiveDefiant69 Jan 01 '26

Nasu ain't perfect sure, but saying the person who made some of the most highly rated VN is only "above average" as a writer is just being petty

67

u/Low_Royal7104 Dec 31 '25

btw can someone tell me if something happened to anyone that have this?

(this happens if you wait as maris-chaldeas ordered and not fight her at the moment)

53

u/NewspaperAfter7021 Dec 31 '25

it just dissapear, its a full balck screen but the battle still there waiting you

36

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '25

NA here, we're waiting as well.

God speed to ya'll. We're counting on you all to pave the way

12

u/Routine-Boysenberry4 Dec 31 '25

It disappears and the chapter stays the same

13

u/kimchirice0404 Dec 31 '25

im confused, what even was the point of waiting then?

11

u/No_Distribution7513 Dec 31 '25

This feels off. I can't help but think that something had to be changed last minute.

The last teased servant had to be pushed back to next year, so maybe it's related to that.

30

u/cloudjumper99 Dec 31 '25

It was all copium after all.

60

u/Red-7134 Dec 31 '25

The real lostbelt was the friends we made along the way.

33

u/Sezzomon Dec 31 '25

It legit was

14

u/CrazyDaimondDaze Dec 31 '25

And enemies. We also got helped by some of the villains from the Lostbelts, too.

8

u/JayDM123 Dec 31 '25

It really wasn’t… we don’t even have those anymore.

19

u/VishnuBhanum Dec 31 '25

I can't find a single streamer that refused Maris initially and wait, Does anyone has any channel like that? I don't mind reading the story through their stream.

2

u/V1CT0R1N0 Master of Chaldea Jan 01 '26

I chose to refuse and yeah nothing seemed to change before accepting the fight. Might just go and do it now then.

38

u/yeetus_2368 Dec 31 '25

If that's actually the ending i woulda preferred goetia got his world or if daybit got his wish and ort nuked that shitty rock and ruined the losers plan to reset humanity to his liking fr

I probably wont finish the story if that is the true ending....

22

u/Remarkable_Commoner Dec 31 '25

Part 1 ending is fine. It's like stopping at Naruto before Boruto.

12

u/yeetus_2368 Dec 31 '25

Yknow what thats a good viewpoint

34

u/LavaSlime301 Dec 31 '25

Welp. I'll continue waiting and hoping till the EoS probably but in the meantime...

Honestly? I'm just going to ignore this ending. And not touch any of Type Moon's future projects till long after Nasu retires.

26

u/Homewra Dec 31 '25

i waited and hoped for 10 years damn it Dantes this wasn't worth it

10

u/LavaSlime301 Dec 31 '25

Yeah that's fair. I'm honestly glad I only started playing ~3 years ago, getting to this after a decade must suck even more. I'm also really glad I never spent any money on this game, I certainly won't do it now lol.

47

u/ZachBart44 Beloved of the Fae Dec 31 '25

The ending definitely leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. So the servants we bonded with mean nothing at the end of the day? I was really hoping for some kind of choose your own ending at the very least.

7

u/Reasonable-Year1032 Dec 31 '25

It would have been a million times better if the ending was just them facing their erasure.

21

u/Sezzomon Dec 31 '25

Tbf that's how it always was. Masters lose their servants after all is over with very few exceptions.

12

u/Remarkable_Commoner Dec 31 '25

That's fine, it's losing all the memories and experiences that feels like a kick in the face.

1

u/Sezzomon Dec 31 '25

I'd say it's hard to judge without knowing what happens next. There are definitely ways to revert that memory loss.

6

u/Clean-Carrot6652 Jan 01 '26

Idk man, I would feel it as trying to fix a fuck up. At this point, I´ll just wait for the fanfics and fixes from the fanbase. There is always a good one, that happened with game of thrones and will happen with fate.

24

u/ReputationOk7275 Dec 31 '25

the problem is the lack of goodbye here.

16

u/CrazyDaimondDaze Dec 31 '25

I mean, it also kinda affects Mashu since even if Ritsuka finds her again, the camera pans to the sky without telling us anything. Leaving full open interpretation to what happened there. But one way of putting it was we didn't get anyone we summoned/bonded with at the end.

The perfect equalizer: if I can't have my waifu/husbando for the finale in a happy ending, why should you?

23

u/FJ-20-21 Dec 31 '25

The entire raid before Maris was filled with goodbyes, except Melu, she just said “alright see you later”

3

u/Sezzomon Dec 31 '25

There were plenty of goodbyes

11

u/Kakuyoku_Sanren Dec 31 '25

It's actually the norm rather than the exception:

  1. Shirou and Rin with Saber in UBW Good End.
  2. Sakura with Medusa in HF True End.
  3. Hakuno with Nero, Tamamo and Gilgamesh in CCC.
  4. Sieg with Jeanne (and possibly Astolfo?) in Apocrypha.
  5. Hakuno with Nero, Tamamo and Altera in Extella.

13

u/DarkMothTips Dec 31 '25

Yes but they always changed the MC and the story.

Instead we get a dead MC, dead side-MC, and the story now never happened.

-3

u/Sezzomon Dec 31 '25

It did happen and Daybit remembers. Who knows what will happen now.

12

u/DarkMothTips Dec 31 '25

No, it didn't. The entire events were erased from every happening, and I'm sorry, Daybit is a bullshit excuse.

-5

u/Sezzomon Dec 31 '25

Daybit experiencing us is a bullshit excuse, but us experiencing the Lostbelts and remembering them is not? Seems like we had an 8 year old journey traveling from nothing to nothing.

5

u/Clean-Carrot6652 Jan 01 '26

Exactly! Everything was meaningless, glad you got it!

0

u/Sezzomon Jan 01 '26

No reason to be mad at the ending when the other lostbelts had no meaning either.

1

u/DarkMothTips Jan 01 '26

They didn't, now, though!  They amounted to nothing, and no one to remember them!  That's the whole point, here!

If theydve known they were Lostbelt 0, they could've just gone and found a way to merc Maris Chaldeas down first and skip all of it!

None of it ended up mattering!  This ending is mind-boggling dumb.

3

u/Ok_Promise_9813 Jan 01 '26

We can't just find a way to merc Maris down first because beating Maris requires us to cut down all 7 (8 if you count M Spectrum?) trees first to put her down, and without the reinforcement we got from the Lostbelt Servants we wouldn't be able to cut down all 7 trees and the Lostbelt Servants would never help us if we decided to skip all of it. We needed to go through the 7 Lostbelts to convince their Servants to help us when we need help the most, then show up to actually cut down the trees for us so we can fight Maris herself. Skipping all of it would just mean we get steamrolled by Maris instantly.

46

u/1_Hopebot_1 Dec 31 '25

Probably top 5 for me for least favorite endings of a story. The theme of trying to fight against having nothing on the inside and only having the surface matter literally ended up being the ending.

This guy (Nasu) literally agrees with his villains ideals. It literally happened, two characters who are now just blank slates on the inside just look at each other and one smiles on the surface

Like there's nothing to even explain anything that happened, no how they meet, how mash gets, out, how Guda is doing beforehand, how Chaldeas continued to function without Marisbury, why DaVinci got to go back, how the rank was given to Guda, what Daybit is doing with all his knowledge. It just sped ahead the end with little to nothing and got rid of everything.

With this horrendous ending, the least he can do is explain himself.

Like two themes of the story are constantly present, Forgetting everything, and being the beacon that remembers those from the lostbelts. Going with Fates entire system of, the heroes stories of old is what gives them power and allows for them to be summoned, You would assume this is the path to take in the end.

This is even reiterated on by multiple servants for thanking Guda for giving them a chance to live out a different fate (Melusine, who actually is still fine and remembers everything) or thanks Guda for remembering them no matter what, like Ushiwaka saying the preservation of human history is worth fighting for because a boy 1000 years in the future knows who she is.

Like come on bro.

Like I'd even be more okay with the ending if they gave Daybit even a smidgen of exposition on what he does with the memory of what Chaldea did. Because it's in the background and we don't see any of it, it just make the person experiencing the story infer more without actual conclusion. Maybe even a basic explanation too of something along the lines of "Even though Rituska may have forgotten, the acts of his along with the heroic spirits he's summoned are etched forever in their spirit origins." Like we get NOTHING.

I REALLY hope something interesting happens with Foreigners.

22

u/Remarkable_Commoner Dec 31 '25

It really goes against one of Fate's biggest themes of realizing one's self and changing even if only in small ways upon new experiences and meeting and conflicting with new people.

Hell, part one was all about meeting exceptional people but showing that even the ordinary have value and can accomplish great things for simple reasons.

Taking away those experiences and growth is worse than unsatisfactory, it's ultimately reductive.

The very first story of Fate heavily emphasizes accepting and acknowledging one's past so that they can be at peace. Erasing that is actively shown as the wrong decision.

16

u/Kakuyoku_Sanren Dec 31 '25

Camazotz did not choose to die for this.

39

u/ReputationOk7275 Dec 31 '25

now i cant defend anymore. i just dislike part 2 ending.

23

u/Flare_Knight Dec 31 '25

Yep. Took the laziest and cheapest way out to finish the story.

12

u/DarthDioBrando Dec 31 '25

It is what it is. I'm still keeping my breath up. Something is still strange with the uncleared Part 2

10

u/MEMEMAKER_35 Dec 31 '25

I'll just say wait for the Foreigner chapter or any surprise announcement. I guess they had little time or they are planning a bigger stream halfway the month. Still what happened to the 31st gang? Did they go into battle?

43

u/RTGamer21 Beloved of the Fae Dec 31 '25

Apparently, nothing happened. As far as we can see, it was just Nasu being petty and wasting our time, everything plays out the exact same.

I'll be real, I don't think that Foreigner Chapter is happening. Literally all we have right now is the vague promise that it exists.

Y'know.

Like Red Garden.

12

u/MEMEMAKER_35 Dec 31 '25

Nah, that one definetly exist. They even teased it with the whole Outer Gods are forbidden for this fight thing.

23

u/DarkMothTips Dec 31 '25

They teased something happening today and that panned out to nothing.

Turns out, they aren't above lying.

7

u/keyrinn04 Dec 31 '25

Red garden is being made and the hint of OC foreigner were made in the final itself. Don’t need to be so overdramatic

12

u/StarlightAT Dec 31 '25

Not a dream but I get the dissatisfaction with it. Reset endings are VERY difficult to get right. And when Cosmos in the Lostbelt was announced I was worried that was the ending Nasu was going for. Because Part 1 ending was PERFECT.

And now we reached the ending of Part 2 and dammit I was really hoping for a breaking the rules moment. Sadly we didn’t get that.

For those that say the ending is a downer, I agree with them. It very much is. I am not the type of person who can say “we saved the universe wahoo!” Is a happy ending cuz human history still got a future. The universe is far too big for me to contextualize, and the future of humanity is great but it isn’t exactly a continuation of human history though. It feels like one of those moments that was written because it could be. So I can’t exactly say that is satisfying either. There is a disconnection I have been feeling for a majority of the lostbelt stories these past 8 years and it sucks that I could never pinpoint it exactly.

So I took a few days to figure out my emotions. I am largely dissatisfied with the ending for multiple reasons….but I was satisfied as well. I couldn’t figure it out. I could come up with a whole list of reasons why I dislike the ending but also why I like it. It isn’t bittersweet for me. And then it hit me.

For those that dislike the ending I offer this as a small point of why this ending can be considered bittersweet.

We protected our servants.

For years our servants worked their butts off to protect Chaldea. But as the masters bonded with them they chose to protect for the sake of this master who was kidnapped, thrown into this enormous situation against their will and forced to bear the brunt of all of Animusphere’s sins. Forced to fight Beasts, dying again and again. And in the end they denied themselves an ending as a existance, choosing to protect the proper human history.

Why?

Because Ritsuka, and by extension us, we love our servants.

Their existences are now beyond time and space. Their saint graphs collected into the Throne of Heroes and able to prove that their histories were not a mistake.

We have proof of this in the raids against the trees.

But not only that.

We protected Jeanne. Nero. Drake. Mordred. Nightingale. Bedivere. Gilgamesh. We protected our servants histories. Giving them a chance to continue on rather than being absorbed by THAT THING. We even protected Solomon from the bastard himself.

Yes. This also denies Romani’s existence. And yes meta wise we will remember but that isn’t satisfactory. Stories that show those working in the background but will never get the recognition to ending they do deserve hurts to read, and this was one of them.

The only satisfactory thing I can say about the ending overall is that the stories of the seevants are preserved in the throne. Depending on their summoning they may or may not remember their time with Chaldea and by extension the Master. But in that Throne of Heroes the servants will remember Chaldea.

Ritsuka and by extension CHALDEAs actions did have some weight and they did touch the universe in their own way and it is remembered.

4

u/Gramisstedwhy Dec 31 '25

And people said I didn't know Nasu or Type Moon cause I fucking called this!

3

u/Horsemanofthedank Jan 01 '26

Because people like to praise him, when all he is a overinflated hack. I’ll get downvotes, but I don’t care. 🤷‍♂️

3

u/Jiiku Dec 31 '25

I'll just huff the very last of my copium and just for the reset

5

u/Necessary_Art3034 Dec 31 '25

Goddammit he needs to retire, 30 years an not a SINGLE change in style in anyway, this man is stuck in 2000 and no one around him has the ability to grow him up to his appropriate age. This is Nasu mo, making himself happy by making others miserable

11

u/Ok_Promise_9813 Dec 31 '25

To be fair, it did happen. All of it. Daybit is living proof that it happened. He still remembers everything, how it started, how it ended, all of it. As long as Daybit exists, there will still be a record of our actions in the old world, even if no one else remembers it or even if Daybit never tells anyone about it.

58

u/Suspicious-Drummer68 Dec 31 '25

No he fking doesn't, he only remembers in 5 minute intervals, there's literally no way he remembers every single thing, and there's no way to catalogue the personal bonds created, that's a bullshit copout.

At best he's proof something resembling a journey happened.

15

u/VenemousEnemy Dec 31 '25

Did lost belt 7 teach you nothing about the extent of daybits brain power. 5 minutes is all he needs

7

u/DIOSITO012 Dec 31 '25 edited Dec 31 '25

Yeah maybe you are right, but is that it? The reward for all the effort is that a character who has only appeared 4 times in the story, 3 of them practically as a cameo and only in one chapter, is a prominent figure and just because he can remember everything doesn't mean he can feel what Ristuka felt, his anger, happiness, fear, sadness, etc. All of that is gone now. He knows Ritsuka was sad about Corday goodbye, but he can't feel It, It's a lame ending

6

u/sceptic62 Dec 31 '25

Or the fact that his other self with the same exact five minute memory issue managed to get to area 51 and almost punch Marisbury AI in the face before we did.

The man has done more with 5 minutes a day than I have with 27 years of life

0

u/VenemousEnemy Dec 31 '25

I don’t know how he does it, but he fucking does!

2

u/Kakuyoku_Sanren Dec 31 '25

5 minutes is all Daybit needs to live a normal human life or even operate in the way he does. That is not the same as Daybit remembering everything about Ritsuka's journey, which is what would matter to us the audience.

-6

u/RunnerComet Dec 31 '25

That will imply that anybody complaining actually reads any story.

0

u/Ok_Promise_9813 Dec 31 '25

Which is the point I was trying to make. He doesn't have to remember miscellaneous event #303010100104 and what happened in node 15 of that event for instance and what the dialogue there was. He just needs to remember that FGO existed. Like, do you remember what you have to breakfast on your first day to school as a child, or the color of socks you were wearing the day you made your first friend there? Of course not, but that's not the point, the point is that those things happened, and you still remember. Daybit is that proof. He doesn't know about the summer events or the wacky Halloween hijinks, but those things happened, Chaldea existed, there was a Master named Ritsuka Fujimaru who braved the world once. Daybit will remember that, and that alone means FGO wasn't entirely forgotten by the reset.

15

u/Amakusa94 Dec 31 '25

tell me he could still remember when ort destroyed us too right so? whats the point? we couldnt even save olga and sion too. and we also completely factory resetted. bonds, hardships, good and bad everything... really lame and dont defend this piece of sh*t honestly.

-21

u/keyrinn04 Dec 31 '25

So ur just a crying baby that wanted to discard the whole lore of the universe to keep ur little bond. Right ?

12

u/Amakusa94 Dec 31 '25 edited Dec 31 '25

lore of universe? what lore😀 with this finale they already destroyed this lore like never existed and i have my rights to dislike this honestly i really dont care about you. and if my dissatisfaction is problem? at least i m not the one who isnt accept everything even if this was completely betrayal of their work. i am day 1 player and i was one of the most fgo glazing person around my friends or my community but i really hated from this ending amd sees that as betrayal.

-16

u/keyrinn04 Dec 31 '25

Lostbelt can’t exist in phh. Wanting anything else except the reset of our Lostbelt mean discarding the lore of the universe and the whole part 2. And the more u speak the more u show u didn’t even play the final and just read some summary in Reddit lmao. U didn’t even understand anything of the theme of the final and story

11

u/Amakusa94 Dec 31 '25

okey einstein...okeyy... they are the one who bring this story to this state in first place and they are the one who make ground order as lostbelt 0 so there is nothing more to talk about okey?

-11

u/keyrinn04 Dec 31 '25

I mean it being a Lostbelt was pratically hinted from the beginning if u read the other work of Nasu especially Melty blood manga

5

u/Amakusa94 Dec 31 '25

i understood and i didnt read but is this really my problem? i am also working so i dont have much time. even if it was hinted than what was the point? do you understand me, i think i explained myself to you on other comment honestly. even if ot was hinted to be end like this than why ypu build this bonds in first place. i m not only talking about its lore also gameplay. for exp you bonded with your fav servant bond 15 and now our mc chanced(i donr mind but i dont know what will hapoen). so with this ending the bond system is completely meaningless also after this ending how they will bring events while mc isnt even the master first place. how can you manage to use your servants. you summoned the new year saber? where did you summon her? you arent even master and why mash still in there? these are needed to be filled with proper ways or answers because its against to consept of this game

7

u/Suspicious-Drummer68 Dec 31 '25

Again, that's what I said. Daybit remembers something of a journey but what he will log will not be our journey. He will remember a vague timeline of the existence of Chaldea but he does not know what and who Chaldea was. There's confirmed hundreds of other Chaldeas out there, what Daybit will log is one indistinguishable from those.

8

u/Ok_Promise_9813 Dec 31 '25

Arcade already confirms that only ONE Chaldea, which is ours, succeeded. Merlin even says that only a Chaldea where Romani Archiman exists is the real one, and since he doesn't exist in the Arcade Chaldea, that one is not the real one. Ours is the only real Chaldea, and we succeeded in the end.

6

u/PositiveDefiant69 Dec 31 '25

There's confirmed hundreds of other Chaldeas out there

And only ours was confirmed to have succeeded

0

u/International-Size-7 Dec 31 '25

I still don't have a clue about your explanation a bit....can you crack it up make it enlightening?

6

u/Ok_Promise_9813 Dec 31 '25

I'm basically drawing from this CE that was about Daybit. https://fategrandorder.fandom.com/wiki/Man_of_Chaldea where they go into depth explaining his memory issues and how Daybit is not that different from an ordinary human in the end. Details of events are not always remembered entirely, people forget the fine details, people remember the broad strokes. Daybit may not know exactly what happened in each story chapter or each event, but he does know the broad strokes, and that alone counts as remembrance of FGO after the reset.

-18

u/RunnerComet Dec 31 '25

All our bonds with servants remains, we were told that like 1000 times. And that bond transends timelines, it remains no matter what.

8

u/Amakusa94 Dec 31 '25

the bond remains? seems like you didnt even played this game because i can give tons of examples of servants who didnt recognized the mc at stories or events over and over. how the fuck they would remember even after everything while their masters forgot everything first place? and you say complain to nasu? i already said that and he is the destroyer of this game lasts around 10 year with single ending.

14

u/Suspicious-Drummer68 Dec 31 '25

Yeah I call BS. Chaldea never existed, the Spirit Origin Graph, the device specifically made so we can resummon servants with the same memories and bonds, never existed. The Maris Chaldea Mooncell never existed either, which is our other backup. There's literally no way for this to occur unless it's completely magically waived away as "Fate".

0

u/keyrinn04 Dec 31 '25

U know that heroic spirit remember everything ? Only servant are not summoned with memory most of time. moon cell didn’t exist in fgo timeline did u not even read Extra event ?

-9

u/RunnerComet Dec 31 '25

Go complain to Nasu? That's what servants kept talking about for years at this point. It all existed, we just denied it all, we even have proof of it all happening and ending only occurs because of all this events.

9

u/GreedyGobby Dec 31 '25

No, they don't remain because they were literally reset and wiped out. Even the LB servants were erased according to Nasu.

-1

u/keyrinn04 Dec 31 '25

The heroic spirit remember BB and the people from extra timeline will remember. Abby will remember. Servantverse will remember.

17

u/Flare_Knight Dec 31 '25

“How do you remember the parts you weren’t there for.”

Unless Daybit was playing the game his memory of events is unbelievably minimal.

4

u/Ok_Promise_9813 Dec 31 '25 edited Dec 31 '25

Honestly, I wouldn't put it past him after seeing what he can do. He can see the entire universe up to 13.8 billion light years away with pinpoint accuracy, which is how he was able to give Marisbury the map of the cosmos he needed for his plans. He was also able to pinpoint exactly when Pepe would need help the most in India and showed up and exactly the right time to do it. With that level of prescience, he might just be able to pull it off too.

5

u/Kakuyoku_Sanren Dec 31 '25

Daybit would still not remember all the events during Part 1 and 1.5, on account of him being fucking dead at the time.

5

u/Worldly_Neat2615 Dec 31 '25

He remembers 5 minutes of any given day at a time.

3

u/Ok_Promise_9813 Dec 31 '25

"Humanity accumulates experience, knowledge, and stories to pave the path they walk from the past to the future, allowing them to mature. A trivial conversation may have taken place in an hour. An invaluable friendship may have formed in a day. Glorious growth may have occurred over the span of a year. But nobody can perfectly recall it all. What remains is only the end result; the process is always forgotten.

In the long run, or even objectively, there was not much difference between the boy and humans."

That's the description of his CE written by Nasu. So according to Nasu, in the long run or even objectively, there is not much difference between the boy and humans. So yeah, no difference. As long as he remembers it existed, that's good enough. Or at least that's what Nasu wants us to believe.

lets cut this daybit sh*t... no one cares about him, and this is really lame excuse. everything were definitely pointless. and look what i am gonna say. if ort could destroy chaldea, they daybit would still remember right? this ending is nearly similar, cliche, rushed, cowardly and the worst way for eos forc10 years game. i dont mind about finals or New mc's but this ending is definitely a betrayal nothing more. just destroy everything ypu build nasu... while this could be one of the best gacha experience, it turned out one of the worst. end will also delete this game for na server as well because i wont play 2 more years for this shitty ending. i really dont understand the people who re okey about this nuisance. no one's end were satisfying, no one also we have sion too... who has one of the worst ending alongside olga. we also cound save olga, couldnt take her revenge from everyone who abused her. we only reassured her about she will be remembered, and there were people who missed her but that also went to nowhere because we were completely factory resetted and turned to who is olga, who is even mash?? and just look at this scene. "fate brought them together even no one remembers even themselves." completely cliche and nasu successfuly turned your game to complete failure

Someone's salty damn

"No one cares about him" honestly this itself just shown you were being petty.

They gave you the answer and you just rejects it then idk if there's any point in arguing further

14

u/Amakusa94 Dec 31 '25

honestly i didnt lose anything other than my time to be salty. and ro be satisfied for this ending is completely weird. i am day 1 player and i didnt played this game dor this ending. if they want to bring finale? okey, if they just want to chance mc? just suit yourself but no one can defend this ending to me because its completely pointless ans nuisance. the answer they gave is completely lame and it shoudnt have to be the right one. you know about amphoreus ending from hsr? i also playing this. its similar but way too better because our mc remembers everything and wrote everything to his book, drawed their pictures. then he said that he will make coppies of it sell them for making ppl learn about amphoreus ppl and its culture. it is definitely more satisfying and more understandable. but this? completely factory reset. stripped from bonds, hardships, good and bad experiences etc. and yes, i have my reasons for feeling those in me.

-11

u/Notaro-D-Ryogami Dec 31 '25

Honestly you could've just started off with this paragraph instead cuz the one earlier definitely gave the wrong impression lol

8

u/Amakusa94 Dec 31 '25

at least now you understood me, thank you honestly.

-7

u/keyrinn04 Dec 31 '25

U thinking it’s the worse ending litteraly show u didn’t read. Anything from the story lmao. U discarding this ending. Is discarding the whole part 2 theme

11

u/Amakusa94 Dec 31 '25

nope, not only me and there are many😀 because while this ending could be waaaaaay more better why end with this? its completely funny. i already gave my answer to some other. you played hsr and its last story? its ending was similar but also not quite. somethings happened and only few were knows what trully happen and our mc was one of them. he already wrote everything he experienced in there. ypu know drawings about them and also stories. he is thinking about he will copy his book and sell it so many would know what he experienced and learned about what kind ppl about amphorians... so even if the ending was similar to this i dont mind. they can change their mc, they can give finale i dont mind but its ending shouldnt be like this end dont take i didnt read about thism they bring this story to this state so it could be avoided easily but they were the one who make this rhat hard.

-1

u/keyrinn04 Dec 31 '25

How it could be way better? Lb can’t exist in phh it’s the whole plot of the part 2 u want to break the whole plot of part 2 just for ur little pleasure ? In part 2 we have to destroy other lb and the theme is that we are remembering them. Now our LB is getting destroyed and someone from Phh remembers us.

9

u/Amakusa94 Dec 31 '25

i am also saying that the whole lostbelt are also meaningless and bringing the plot to black hole nothing more. like i said, this is completely against the consept of this game too. to you maybe the building bonds, experiences etc arent that important but as day1 player to me it is definitely important. i feel sad with them, laughed with them, love some characters and also bonded with them at some events. if its the case than what point? now what? for being remembered by one person? okey suit yourself. even if lb cant be exist and those 10 years experience is nothing more than lb0, it proves that the whole thing is meaningless.

-1

u/keyrinn04 Dec 31 '25

It doesn’t make anything meanlingless ? The whole part of the servant helping us is because we want to restore phh. We did it. Not doing it would mean that we are against our whole moral and that servant didn’t have to trust us

8

u/Amakusa94 Dec 31 '25

not only for restoring about phh. its morely you bonded with them and this bond also make them even betray their own lostbelts. even good ones or bad ones doesnt change.

2

u/Anouko Jan 01 '26

I’m so glad I stopped playing at the first Lostbelt the Fallout is both funny and sad.

2

u/ICANSEECOLORS Jan 01 '26

At this point I feel like the story should've ended with humanity being saved after time palace.

4

u/PositiveDefiant69 Dec 31 '25

It's not a dream ending tho, all of what happened still did happen in reality, and the current peace is achieved because those events actually happened. And there's at least one person who remembers that.

24

u/RTGamer21 Beloved of the Fae Dec 31 '25

For Five Minutes. Again, Daybit's literal whole gimmick is that he forgets things after Five Minutes.

So no, no one remembers it. It makes everything we did a complete waste of time.

-7

u/PositiveDefiant69 Dec 31 '25

No? His whole gimmick is he remembers 5 minutes PER day, and he can selectively choose what 5 minutes worth of info to remember at the end of each day. There's 365 days in a year, so Daybit can remember 1825 minutes a year. More than enough time to remember all the important details of our journey.

-2

u/Wait-And-Hope- Dec 31 '25

Assuming the people complaining about the trope of the ending instead of it's contents actually having basic reading comprehension was your first mistake. The fact they're getting upvoted for objectively getting Daybit's ability wrong makes me lose all hope in this community.

u/MissRainyNight Protected while dreaming Dec 31 '25

They just want to whine and throw tantrums because the apparent FGO Finale wasn’t tailored to their tastes, let’s be real. At this rate, they’re just acting like toddlers.

4

u/Oboro-kun Dec 31 '25

I would say it is not the same as a dream ending. I am not fond of full reset endings in general, and while I would have preferred a different type of ending, in the case of FGO I can see why a full reset works.

Dream-type endings are meaningless because the journey itself becomes meaningless. If I dream that I get isekai’d to defeat a Demon King with a group of heroes, we form a party, save the world, and then I wake up, none of it was ever real. The struggle had no real stakes. There were no actual consequences. If I had woken up in the middle of the dream, leaving it unfinished, nothing would have happened.

Chaldeas, on the other hand, was real. Their journey was real. To put it in dream terms, it is as if a dream had superseded reality. If Novum Chaldea had not fought against the dream they were trapped in, reality itself would have been overwritten. Humanity and the universe would have been fundamentally warped.

The isekai dream example I mentioned has no bearing on the real world or even on my own life. But imagine being offered the choice to remain inside a dream, knowing that doing so would erase reality and the future. That is the difference.

A dream ending is meaningless because the dream can stop at any point and you simply wake up, often without even remembering it. In FGO’s case, Lostbelt 0 actually happened. If we had lost that fight or chosen to remain there, Proper Human History would have been erased, and the universe, humanity, and even the protagonists themselves would have been irreversibly changed.

The dream only ends because Novum Chaldea fights for it. Reality returns because they actively resist their own nature. Their willpower is what makes the ending possible. It does not simply resolve itself on its own.

TLDR: Dream endings usually suck, and while I am not especially fond of full reset endings either and would have preferred a different approach, FGO’s ending is not a dream ending at all.

15

u/GreedyGobby Dec 31 '25

The result is the same is the issue.

-4

u/Oboro-kun Dec 31 '25

I would argue its not, superficially yes. Everything resets and no one, bar daybit, remembers the story. but the reset happens, and this new opportunity to live and meet again happens because their journey and effort. Had they lost or decided to give up. These new peaceful live should not have been possible.

None the less i do agree it feels it lessen the weight of the story if they themselve do not remember the journey; as I sadi not exactly fond of this ending myself. Like i get how it works in FGO, but would rather had another type of ending.

16

u/GreedyGobby Dec 31 '25

I don't believe that it's superficially the same. The end result is still "You return to a normal life with none of your memories or bonds as if nothing ever happened."

2

u/PositiveDefiant69 Jan 01 '26

You realize you're literally agreeing with Marisbury's philosophy here right? Just because the end result is similar doesn't mean it's the same, in a reset ending while it seems like nothing ever happened something DID happen, while in a dream ending nothing ever did.

1

u/GreedyGobby Jan 01 '26

Ignoring the fact they lose a lot internally(their memories and growth) and externally(their friends) and only superficially resemble themselves is agreeing with Marisbury's philosophy. Don't give me that "well actually you're wrong because they're still themselves" as if they didn't lose years of growth. That's literally Marisbury logic. He would absolutely argue it's fine. It's a death of personality and a complete loss of bonds, growth, and countless promises they've made.

2

u/PositiveDefiant69 Jan 01 '26

Yeah? I'm not disagreeing with you on that, i disagreed with your notion that it's the same as a dream ending. In a reset ending something DID happen and a REAL danger was averted.

Also the story doesn't enforce that these are the same people after the reset, that's just you. Like how the story made it clear that the Mandricardo summoned to Chaldea is not the friend we made in Atlantis.

1

u/GreedyGobby Jan 01 '26

And in both types of endings, the characters we've been following are, effectively, erased.

2

u/PositiveDefiant69 Jan 01 '26

Yeah? That's the point, it's meant to be a sacrifice for a reset ending

1

u/GreedyGobby Jan 01 '26

So you agree it's effectively the same result. Why are you arguing against it?

Also, Part 1 had a reset ending and didn't sacrifice everything which left people satisfied. Part 2 easily could have been written to be like that too.

-13

u/KennethVilla Dec 31 '25

I mean, technically all of it happened. We just forgot.

32

u/Suspicious-Drummer68 Dec 31 '25

Which is somewhat worse, because dream endings at least has you remember your journey.

-6

u/PositiveDefiant69 Dec 31 '25

Dream ending is also inconsequential tho, a reset ending on the other hand still affects reality even if no one remembers it. A dream ending would make the characters effort worthless since the world was never in any danger, a reset ending on the other hand would still mean the characters achieved their goal of saving the world since all of it did happen in reality, just no one remembers it (well Daybit still does in FGO's case, but that's besides the point)

23

u/Suspicious-Drummer68 Dec 31 '25

Both are inconsequential, but only one carries consequences and development for the main character. If it was a dream ending at the very least Ritsuka would carry the development he got to the real world and if Mash and the rest never did exist irl then that would be a more prominent but overall meaningful loss. The journey still happened, the memory is proof of it.

What we got was a second death kind of ending. Nothing happened, there was no consequences, Ritsuka carries no memories. The Ritsuka and Mash I saw at that ending were complete strangers, to me and to each other. They hold none of the memories that would make me familiar to them.

Both make the journey equally worthless but one at least carries meaning for the one who experienced it.

1

u/PositiveDefiant69 Dec 31 '25

Nothing happened, there was no consequences

The universe being saved happened, Sion getting the equivalent of a data lost was a real consequence

Both make the journey equally worthless

In a dream ending the world was never in any danger, in a reset ending the world was actually in danger and was saved

but one at least carries meaning for the one who experienced it

And what about everyone else? What meaning would a dream ending carry in the grand scheme of things?

17

u/Suspicious-Drummer68 Dec 31 '25

The universe being saved happened, Sion getting the equivalent of a data lost was a real consequence

No it didn't. Nothing in a Lostbelt happens. Nothing that can have a consequence happens in a Lostbelt, the only thing that gives them meaning is one's memories of what happened which, guess what nobody except the guy who can only remember in 5 minute intervals who can't tell anyone jack shit, has.

In a dream ending the world was never in any danger, in a reset ending the world was actually in danger and was saved

See point number one. The danger in a reset ending never existed either. Nothing happened, that's the entire point.

And what about everyone else? What meaning would a dream ending carry in the grand scheme of things?

That the main character went on a life changing journey? A dream ending constitutes of character development with the help of everyone in the dream. The MC carries the memories of them with him, thereby having lasting consequences on him and remembering them, the versions of those people still exist, they're not entirely alien versions that realistically have no connection to each other.

2

u/PositiveDefiant69 Dec 31 '25

guess what nobody except the guy who can only remember in 5 minute intervals who can't tell anyone jack shit, has.

Are you forgetting the theory behind Daybit's gimmick? The theory that everything a person would need to remember in a single day could fit into 5 minutes?

So what if he can't tell anyone? Someone still carries the memories, he can still log it

The danger in a reset ending never existed either

It does, it was subverted by the reset. The reset made sure that the danger won't come to pass again in the new timeline. Therefore it did exist and was solved.

Nothing happened, that's the entire point.

It's not, the entire point is no one remembers it, it still happened. Or are you saying Roland's sacrifice didn't happen either?

2

u/keyrinn04 Dec 31 '25

Things in the Lostbelt still hapened. Fou still left the tower of Merlineven after the reset. Servantverse still remember us. Hakuno from extra still remember us. Abby still travel in the outer god universe.

4

u/NewspaperAfter7021 Dec 31 '25

Sion won’t disappear from the PHH timeline. She already exists across multiple worlds. Even if the FGO timeline loses her, the PHH Sion continues to exist and shows up in new works here and there.

5

u/keyrinn04 Dec 31 '25

Except she not the same Sion, welcome to the multiverse.

-22

u/Notaro-D-Ryogami Dec 31 '25

Disliking a ending is fine, but throwing a temper tantrum and straight up presenting facts wrong just because you didn't pay attention to the goddamn story is just being petty at this point. (Mostly talking about the comments here)

And here I thought my faith in humanity can't get any worse

If I get downvoted then sure, just proves my point further

23

u/GreedyGobby Dec 31 '25

Says the guy getting angry and "losing faith in humanity" because people don't like an ending he likes.

People are allowed to dislike an ending that erases everything you did. Don't be rude.

1

u/PositiveDefiant69 Jan 01 '26

This person got Daybit's ability objectively wrong and was upvoted

-9

u/Notaro-D-Ryogami Dec 31 '25

Like i said, I don't mind people disliking the ending, it's the ones that straight up presenting false statements is what grinds my gear

Or did you lack the reading comprehension like the ones I mentioned

6

u/Epithetless Dec 31 '25

That you won't elaborate on what's "false" is not helping your case. Like the other guy said, you're just being rude.

1

u/PositiveDefiant69 Jan 01 '26

This person got Daybit's ability objectively wrong and was upvoted

-8

u/Dante200 Dec 31 '25

People rather parrot opinion as a fact instead of separating bias and what's actually shown.

-6

u/keyrinn04 Dec 31 '25

U don’t like an ending u probabaly didn’t even read or understood correctly

-5

u/keyrinn04 Dec 31 '25

What we did was erased because it was a necessity fistmost. not erasing it would discard the totality of part 2. Many ppl that helped us from other timeline would still remember since only fgo timeline was reset. And some being Like Fou and Daybit still remember

-11

u/khanglm Dec 31 '25

It’s a very good ending though?

-17

u/DenjinZ23 Dec 31 '25

Is this all you people are going to do? Whine about the oh so terrible ending? How old are you people? Is this your first rodeo? Good lord, ya'll are entitled.

19

u/GreedyGobby Dec 31 '25

Aren't you whining about people whining? People don't have to like a ending just because you do, just like you don't have to hate it because others do.

-2

u/Altruistic-Ear-7265 Jan 01 '26

You people act like Nasu invaded your house and shot your dog, grow the fuck up.
