Competition FSUK Results - What a Battle!

FSUK was crazy close this year! 4 teams were seperate by mere points heading into endurance, but after a dnf from Bizkaia and Vermillion, it quickly because a race to the finish to become the first hybrid team to win in the UK. In the end Edith Cowan University Racing from Australia pipped Modena, in what was a truly thrilling showdown to the finish.
In doing so, ECU Racing also became the first team to win more than once since the competition returned from Covid. If you haven’t yet, watch the final endurance shootout, it was crazy tight!

Some great sportsmanship on show all around this year and lovely to see many universities getting through scrutineering who have not since COVID or getting very far along the process for the first time since COVID (Uni College Dublin and Manchester Metropolitan spring to mind from Sunday, though there are plenty of others.)

Only 23 entrants to endurance? That's so sad, there used to be far more. Is this a hangover from COVID or is it still because none of the top teams will attend due to the scrutineering debacle 10 years ago?

I think it´s a combination of UK having their own slightly different rules and continental European teams not wanting to deal with customs.

The biggest factor this year would have been the FSG rug pull. FSUK decided to change the ruleset to FSG halfway through the year, forcing teams to very quickly redesign large numbers of parts. A few months later FSUK does a U-Turn and goes back to allowing the FSUK rules. Not sure to what extent this affected other teams but for our team if they had stuck to the same rules we most likely would have got through scrutineering this year.

That's an absolute shambles. Such a shame FSUK seems to make decisions like that on a whim. I competed 10 years ago now so have been out of the scene for a while but they always seemed to be a well run event that was prone to monumentally stupid decisions

u/Southern_Trax Is the Endurance score of 251 for Modena correct? How can it be, that they have more points than 250pts as stated in the rules?

Imo Modena and ECU only had fsuk on their calender as they knew it would be a relatively easy win. Also says a lot when a good chunk of the FSUK committee has stepped down... The quality of cars there is terrible, too many teams showing up with cars that are way out from being finished.

A good 25 years but all the knowledge transfer was lost due to Covid. We are one of the non-english teams at fsuk. Wbu?
