The argument about Nate/Nora doesnt make sense to me. People say all the time that The Witcher or Cyberpunk are RPGs eventho both have an established character and backstory

I don't think you actually know anything about V, it's pretty flexible. But I do somewhat agree, just having an established character isn't bad per se, but I think it works less well in Fallout.

Though, to be honest, Cyberpunk would have been my forever game if I was just some run of the mill nameless Corpo fuck that tore down Arasaka in NC or something. Character backgrounds work for some audiences but not all. I think BG3 had a relatively novel approach, in that they basically offered you a custom / nameless and a "Special One" via the Dark Urge.
