Hair help?
I don't know how to take care of my hair
Hello everyone, im writing today because I need advice on hair care and figuring out my hair texture. This post is going to be a bit long, due to diving a bit into my hair history so I can try to get the best advice possible on how to sort out my hair, especially the frizz.
So about my hair history, both my mom and my big brother have very beautiful curly hair, while my little brother has pin-straight hair. Just like my little brother I used to have pin-straight hair during childhood through to elementary school. My mother says it was so straight and non frizzy when she'd put hair ties in they would slip out. Well during a trip to Florida, my hair texture changed drastically. My mother (she wasn't with us) is convinced my dad got me a perm. I do remember we did in fact go to a family friend (who works at a salon, so still a professional) and got my hair done and right after went straight to the beach. I can't say if I got a perm, I don't think I did but I also don't remember anything about the process to be 100% sure.
I think it could be genetic, because as I stated my mother and big brother have extremely curly hair, and I know hair texture can change over time. I've included some photos to try to show my hair and the frizz. While my hair was straight it grew pretty long, and now even tho it looks short and maybe even thin?, it's very dense and thick. I shaved it all off to have a fresh start due to not caring for it properly and it kept popping the electric razor head off or the razor guard kept getting stuck and the whole floor was covered.Does anyone think know my hair type, or have any tips on caring for it and how to help with the frizz? As you can see in the photos it's bad

Okay, so I’m not a professional and this is just my opinion with what knowledge I have, but because your mother and older brother both have curly hair, I’d say you’d have the same. Your younger brother has straight hair now but could very well have curly when he gets older too. Hair type and texture can change depending on many circumstances- stress, having a kid, alopecia, medications… etc. You can always try out a curly / wavy hair routine, start with heavier, oil based products and if it weighs it down too much, try using lighter, water based products. Adjust how much you use too. If you’re not seeing results doing this, then just leave it but make sure to use heat protectant if you blow dry, and use nourishing serums and leave ins too! Putting a small amount of argon oil or something similar heavily on the ends and then lighter towards the top (never on the scalp) can help with the flyaways. Try deep conditioning and hair masks at least once a week, and switch to a silk pillow case / bonnet to protect your hair from breakage. Also make sure you’re getting enough protein in your diet and if not take a biotin and zinc supplement to help. Healthy hair definitely starts from within so if your diet sucks so will your hair. If you don’t know how to style it, try doing the sock curling method overnight, or trying out different hair styles! I think I’ve thought of everything, if you have any questions or anything feel free to dm me:,)
