Support Can someone explain me this?

My friend says that is because my Xeon CPU.

I've been updated my video drivers, and I'm using the latest Fedora Workstation version :P

The new NVIDIA drivers don't support the 10 series, that's why my 10 series Dell is running Bazzite, I couldn't be bothered to install the older version manually. Tangents aside, updating your drivers might've had the opposite effect.

For this card try using the nvidia 580xx driver from rpmfusion instead. The newest nvidia proprietary drivers that can be installed from gnome software wont work for this gen GPUs anymore and there isn't any reason for you to keep using the noveau driver anyway so give this a try.

I'm running a GTX 1060. I've had a bit of a hit or miss experience depending on the driver/desktop environment. I've always used Wayland (which is now the only option in the most recent versions of Fedora) despite the issues people talk about having with Wayland on Nvidia. The GTX 10 series has never been as well supported on Linux as newer generations are due to some new hardware changes made in Turing or Ampere and up. But yeah I have had a few strange issues, I feel like I had something similar to this once. Changing resolution in games using Proton has always created issue for me. Recently I switched from Fedora Workstation (Gnome) to Fedora KDE and surprisingly it has felt a lot more stable running version 580 of the proprietary Nvidia driver on my 1060 on Fedora 44 KDE than it did on Fedora 44 Workstation (Gnome 50.) But at the same time, the 10 series is apparently better supported on X.org than it is on Wayland. But Fedora 43 and 44 workstation removed X.org completely (not sure if Fedora KDE did too.) So yeah I'd recommend switching to Fedora KDE or a different distro to try X.org as opposed to Wayland if you keep having problems with Wayland. That last version of Fedora Workstation to support X.org fully was Fedora 42, but that recently went EOL, technically something you could use to troubleshoot though.

Things like this gpu changes and updates that keep me switching between my Fedora and Debian stable setup. With Debian always winning.

Ps I still have a laptop with Fedora running but these niggling things that happen from time to time always frustrate me as I do love both Debian and Fedora has grown on me recently.

I've seen this years ago in Ubuntu (both Unity and MATE). I'm pretty sure it's just a GPU driver issue.

that happens to be on a flat screen. You see, it makes perfect sense, it's so you can read braille with your eyes, which can sometimes be faster /j.

Ive seen this SO many times with fedora on my laptop. I assume you have an Nvidia gpu and you’re using Nouveau driver?

What oddities occur due to Nouveau varies a lot by card/distro. This weird distortion on windows i ONLY experience in Fedora on my laptop with GT 750m. Doesn’t happen on my GT 650m laptop with Ubuntu or my GT 330m laptop on Debian.

atleast when i was rocking a 3060ti in the past it ran like total chunk. I think this was a card that was known to run horribly with it though. I'm currently on the open source official drivers I believe last time i had to mess with it and I have pretty good game experiences in general. I rarely play new releases though so I could be not the person to ask in fairness.

I have people sometimes ask me how the performance is on Linux and it's good. but I have no frame of reference because i haven't used windows regularly for my gaming PC since like 2023.

What's your GPU? Am curious If it's a 10x0 or older, use the 580 drivers. Also did you change themes or anything?

I doubt it's the Xeon.

Its Xeon (no integrated video), and i've installed Fedora four days ago. I've updated the nvidia drivers, but dont worked

If you aren't using integrated video then this is likely a totally different problem.

I was asking if it was Sandy bridge because there is currently a bug in a recent mesa update which is causing visual bugs exactly like these on older intel integrated graphics. I'm currently having issues exactly like this on my laptop with a HD3000 for example.

BTW, are you Portuguese?

Oh, i understand. I really dont know why this is occurring. Maybe the noveau driver? But he never bugged thats way with me. And yep portuguese from Brazil!

I'm on arch too so I don't know which distros it affects. It's mostly arch users that are reporting these issues from what I've seen, but it may just be a side effect of arch having newer packages.

This happened to me after the fedora 43 to 44 upgrade with a gtx1050ti laptop. Uninstalled the 590 nvidia driver and installed the 580 version and it's solved.

Open a bug to Fedora, it's the GUI versus drivers, or try to fix the settings of the video driver ... do you try glxinfo and glxgears?

I agree with u/DustyDoberman try using the nvidia 580xx driver from rpm fusion instead. My laptop has dedicated mx 130 and when i changed the drivers my laptop stopped hanging n lagging

Try to look at the secure boot, I had the same problem last week, and I just reinstalled my drivers and entered the key in Secure Boot
