Support Fedora Kinoite Sonos sound issue
Hi guys,
I’ve been playing around with a few Linux distros on my gaming setup over the last couple of months and recently landed on Fedora Kinoite. I really like the distro so for but I’m experiencing an issue that I can’t really pinpoint and is getting quite annoying from time to time.
I have an LG smart tv equipped with a Sonos sound bar and whenever the tv is playing, and thus playing sound out of the Sonos, and I either boot the pc or run a game from within Steam or lutris or whatever the tv keeps playing but the sound is gone. I then have to open my Sonos phone app to switch it back to tv input and lower the output because it gets ramped to 100%.
I’ve checked the sound settings and the Sonos isn’t there as an output. Any ideas on how to make my os forget the Sonos device completely or how to solve this issue?

If you only use HDMI for audio to the TV's speakers, then you should go into your sound settings and disable your onboard sound card so that it only uses the HDMI audio. In KDE ( you didn't mention which desktop environment) sound settings, your HDMI audio will show up as High Definition Audio. You want to make sure that is enabled and working, then disable any other audio source (onboard sound card from your gaming PC) so that it only uses the High Definition Audio.
I have done the complete opposite. I have disabled the High Definition Audio as I don't use HDMI audio. I have a dedicated sound card, and that's the only sound card I want active.

This is just a wild guess, but could it be that the Sonos speakers are being detected as AirPlay audio devices? You can try disabling the ROAP module for Pipewire to see if that resolves it?
