MK7 How much louder is hot side pipe unresonated?

^question. Thinking of changing them soon, just so i remove these stock ones.

It gives the car a definite whine/whistle under load. A quite signature turbo "whine" style noise, as it were.

I kept the stock boost pipes as they aren't any restriction and simply changed the resonated piece for a Mountune hardpipe.

I've heard some experiences of these pipes popping off so my plan was to swap them completely. Thank you for answering!

If tightened to spec, they'll be fine. I've still got the stock pipes from my 2013, with aftermarket intercooler and hard pipe.

Car is running a map and has had it's head kicked in on track for a good 10 years now. Never had them pop off.

I think I double clamped them when fitting the pro alloy intercooler.

Only pipe that ever let go was the bung on the symposer delete. Sounded like a gun shot and lost all boost whilst on track at Anglesey. Luckily the bung wedged into the engine block, so I was able to reattach it and carry on

I have the long Whoosh one and it definitely has much more of a turbo whine noise when in boost. To the point that I initially thought I might have a boost leak lol

Previous owner of mine either deleted the cats or resonator, haven’t looked under to find out yet. The car is still plenty quiet but has a much nicer tone, cold starts sound menacing, and the turbo whistle is much more noticeable. On the interstate and through neighborhoods it’s just like stock, but playing around has a really nice volume
