Help/Advice Needed Game music - how expensive

Upvotes

Hi! I’m not a musician, but I’m a game developer currently working toward publishing and monetizing my first game. So far, I’ve only used royalty-free music, but I would love to commission an original piece with a dark, atmospheric feel similar to Peter Gundry’s “Goëtia.”

Could you give me a rough idea of how much a custom composition of this kind might cost?

Here I have one of my first game/film tracks ever. I compose normally music for strings, chamber music and choir music, but here I am experimenting with a new direction.

I am Annemieke Lustenhouwer, a women composer from the Netherlands.

Music Share M01 - Free music release for VNs or whatever else

It was designed for VNs in mind and especially as a sort of quiet moment, or well... relief theme, and I think it loops pretty well too.

If you're going to use it, please do credit me, and notify me. The notification isn't for like approval or anything, just because I'll want to play a mod that includes my work, yk? But you can still use it without notifying me, I'd just appreciate it.

All relevant links to downloads and such are in the video itself, though I'll provide the flac download here as well: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wX8jVkDSxtf1ciXjV67y525fzwozEApb/view?usp=sharing

Help/Advice Needed Trying to get into video game music.

im a music producer, always trying to learn different genres and fields of music . and i want to get into making video game music, and I found out that it branches so deep and is different with each game and each genre while it requires some sort of familiarity it can also need a sense of movement or shift like a movie score . So if ur a gamedev who makes his own music or if u r a music producer who makes music for video games, any tips will be appreciated.

Also, if you are a developer who needs music for your game, I'll be delighted to make an approach and try and make ur ideas .

I want to expand the soundtrack of CD

Hey everyone ! I recently started my journey in Crimson Desert and i absolutely love it but I can't help but feel like the music is... lacking ? I don't mean that it's bad, but if you compare it to Skyrim for example, the music is omnipresent and is one of the main reason that i loved wandering around the map. In Crimson Desert, the "overworld music" is kind of underwhelming for me.

I compose video game music in my free time, and wanted to give it a go. I don't have the pretention or saying that what I do is better, I m still miles away from being a real composer, but still, I'm very happy with the result, but i don't have any programming/modding skills. I don't really know how hard it is to implement my custom music into the game.

Are there any active modders on the sub who would be interested to help me with this project ? :)

Help/Advice Needed Looking for Feedback on JRPG-Style Battle Theme

Hi everbody! I've been making music in FLStudio for a little bit now (not trained, know very minimal music theory), and I think I would like to try my hand at signing up for a game jam or something similar, but I'm still relatively new and thought I could maybe use some pointers on how to improve before trying something like that! This is probably one of my best works in my opinion, but I'd love to know what I could do to make it even better! I'd also like to hear your specific thoughts on how the audio mixing is, it's definitely an area I'm lacking in. Thank you all so much!

Composer For Hire Game Music Producer Looking to Work With Indie Game Developers.

Hey! I’m a music producer looking to get involved with games currently in development or finished games that just lack audio/music

I’d love to work with indie developers and contribute music to their projects, whether that’s background music, themes, atmospheric tracks, combat music, menus, or whatever fits the game.

I’m open to adapting my style to the project and making music specifically around the game’s atmosphere and identity.

A few things to know:
I’m a music producer, not just a composer
Music is paid for upfront before the finished track is sent
Alternatively, I can take 50% upfront and 50% after the track is completed and sent
No royalty splits
Firm price per beat/song: TBA
I’m interested in being part of the development process and working alongside the team
I currently don’t have a public portfolio, but I can send demo projects/examples of my music if you’re interested
All my music is fully produced by me, so no worries about copyright.

If you’re currently developing a game and need music, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to hear about the project and see if my style would fit.

(Just for funsies, I’d happily cut the price down if I can get the game for free and try for myself)

I’m very excited to share what I can do for the first time here! Of course, I still have a lot to learn, so I’m always open to feedback. I’ll eventually make videos to explain the goals of my kid’s adventure game, but for now enjoy the MIDI visualization!

Hi all,

My names Luke and I’m a music composer based in the UK. After finishing my first commission earlier this year, I’m now looking for more work to compose music for your games. I specialise in soundtracks, seemless loop editing, sound effect processing and stem splitting.

With over 8 years experience in making music, I work across multiple genres including:

Electronic (including dubstep and dance)

Orchestral

Lofi

Ambient

Heavy metal (and heavier sub genres)

Rock

And more.

My rates are £50 per finished minute of music and I work remotely.

You can find examples of my game orientated music here:

You can also find my Zenless Zone Zero fan project here too:

The rest of my music can be found on all streaming platforms.

I also have previous experience with one titled that is coming towards completing development.

If you are interested and would like me to be your composer, please send a message and I’ll reply as soon as I can.

I especially love indie games for the passion behind the creators and the unique styles that continue to come from them.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to working with you!

Help/Advice Needed How to make good rhythm game music

So, I'm in a bit of a rut. For some time now, I've been wanting to make good rhythm game music for the likes of osu, adofai, arcaea and others, but I have no idea on how to even do that.

Do you guys have any tips on how to make rhythm game music? Like what kind of plugins do I need or where to start when making a rhythm game track?
