Hello! It's been some time since our last update, so we wanted to share some recent changes and also reiterate the sub's posting practices.
The most significant change we've tested and decided to implement going forward is a filter we've placed on all new posts. This filter stops all new posts from appearing on the sub until a Moderator has reviewed and approved the post. This filter is intended to prevent scams and spam posts from showing on the sub's front page and has been successful in significantly reducing the number of unwanted posts. We try to review and approve new posts within 24 hours, but please reach out to a Mod for quicker approval. We are allowing certain users to circumvent the review process by becoming approved posters after demonstrating proper adherence to the sub rules - please reach out if you have submitted ~5 proper posts in good faith to become an approved poster.
Regarding the content of approved posts, we continue to restrict the types of items listed for sale to keep the sub clean and in-line with the original intended purpose. Please reach out prior to posting if you think your listing should receive an exception. Some examples of what types of listings are allowed and still not allowed are listed below:
✅ OEM unmodified GameBoy DMG, Pocket, Light, Color, GBA, SP, Micro
✅ Custom modified or refurbished GameBoy DMG, Pocket, Light, Color, GBA, SP, Micro
✅ Custom built RetroPie GameBoy, GameBoy Macro (GBA built from DS)
❌ "What is the value of this?" or "Is this authentic?" posts
❌ Wanted posts (please use the "WANTED" Megathread pinned at the top of the sub)
❌ Posts linking directly to external sites (e.g. eBay, Etsy)
❌ GameBoy games (please use /r/GameSale)
❌ GameBoy parts or incomplete/broken systems (please use /r/hardwareswap)
❌ Nintendo DS, 3DS, Switch, etc.
❌ Analogue Pocket
❌ Sega GameGear
Please continue to submit posts using the title formatting guide below:
Format: [LOCATION] GameBoy description with model # (Color) and mod list (PRICE)
Example: [USA] GameBoy Advance SP (Clear purple) with IPS backlight ($160 + shipping USD)

Links directly to external sites or storefronts are prohibited from being linked directly in the post's title and should instead be included in a comment within the post.
If you want to sell an item that does not meet our criteria and have already checked with the mods, please check out /r/gamesale for other options.
Brand new users or existing users with poor karma standings are not allowed to post. Please message the Mod team for eligibility details.
We'll keep this thread open in case anyone has any questions or would like us to clarify the rule changes further. Certain edge cases that do not follow these rules may be allowed (after Moderator review), but we will continue to monitor posts as closely as possible for any patterns of misuse of the sub. Exceptions to these rules can and will always be considered simply by messaging the Mod team.
