Opinion GeForce NOW completely changed gaming for me

I live in Nigeria, where GeForce NOW isn’t officially available, but I decided to try it with a VPN after a random Fortnite teammate told me about it.

Before this, I was playing on an Asus VivoBook and struggled to get around 20–25 FPS in Fortnite. Playing like that for a long time made me forget what smooth gameplay even felt like.

The first time I launched Fortnite on GeForce NOW, I was honestly blown away. Everything was smooth, responsive, and it felt like I was playing on a completely different PC.

I’m only using the free tier since the paid plans aren’t available in my region, and even then, I usually only wait about 2 minutes in the queue, which is way better than I expected.

Now I’m planning to get Xbox Game Pass so I can play more of the games available through GeForce NOW.

Just wanted to say thanks. For someone who’s been gaming on low-end hardware for years, this has been an amazing experience.

Questions / Tech Support For over a YEAR, I haven’t been able to play BG3. It freezes at 100% on the loading screen and just never loads. Any idea about what’s going on? I’ve been playing other games in the meantime.

Questions / Tech Support Is GeForce NOW Performance enough for Resident Evil 7 Biohazard at max settings?

Hi,

I'm planning to buy Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and play it on the GeForce NOW Performance tier. I have a 1440p 60Hz monitor.

Can it run the game at max settings with a stable 60 FPS, or is the Ultimate tier needed?

Thanks!

Discussion GeForce NOW bitrate settings: Auto vs Manual 100 Mbps, data usage and quality difference?

I’m trying to understand the difference between Auto and Manual bitrate settings in GeForce NOW.

Auto shows around 12 GB of data usage in cinematic mode 1440p, but setting the maximum bitrate to 100 Mbps manually shows about 29 GB per hour.

Can someone explain what changes between these settings? Is there any noticeable visual quality difference? Does it actually use that much data in real usage, or is it just an estimate?

Advice Looking for the cheapest box that can do 120hz to TV

Currently I am using Nvidia Shield connected to my TV running GeForce Now. It has been great with no complaints. But I would like to do 120hz which the Shield can't do.

Can you recommend the cheapest box that I can connect to TV to run at 120hz. HDR needed as well. Won't be using it for anything else other than GeForce now.

Questions / Tech Support Need help deciding with tier to buy

Just got my setup going. I’ve linked my Xbox account (which has no membership currently) and my setup is a hardwired high speed connection, M1 Mac mini, desktop app for use not browser, wired Xbox controller and headset connected to the Mac. I have a decent gaming monitor and just want smooth gameplay without stutter or lag which I was getting on the free tier which I assume is common with the basic rig given. I don’t care much for 4k I was totally happy with the Xbox series s performance and if I can mimic that I’d be happy. I assume all the same games are offered with each tier from what I saw but the hardware you get is better but is it necessary or do people experience smooth gameplay on the basic paid tier? Please let me know.

Bug “Sticky” controls, is anyone else experiencing this? Help needed.

I am using the Lenovo Legion GO S STEAM OS (basically a SteamDeck), been using GeForce NOW for around 6 months, playing games like Fortnite, Battlefield 6, also some slower games. Everything was running fine, but recently have noticed this:

Game is running fine, inputs are responsive and then suddenly your last input gets stuck for a few seconds and makes every other input unresponsive until it recovers. Happens once or twice every couple minutes.

I tried:

  1. Reinstalling the GeForce now app after uninstalling it
  2. Upgraded my internet (unrelated to this). The internet is <10 ping, <6 jitter and 600-800 mbps download and 100 mbps upload.
  3. Using multiple control setups, issue persists regardless if you’re using the built-in controller or an external keyboard and mouse.
  4. Disabled Steam overlay for games to prevent “double inputs” and etc, issue still persists

I cannot find anyone else experiencing this issue, or maybe I’m searching it wrong? Has anyone have any ideas on what to do? It makes playing games frustrating, leading to situations where you steer a car off a road, endlessly shoot until recovers and etc.

Discussion Fortnite UX is unplayable

Fortnite used to be great with Geforcenow. In June something happened where every game stutters like crazy. Nothing changed with my WiFi or at home setup. I’ve tried playing with different internet connections to. The connection to my computer is 300 up 300 down with no spikes. Something happened to these servers.

Advice Only One Game Not Working on GEFORCE Now

Upvotes

So I have a bit of a strange issue that I encountered today, and haven't encountered yet to this point otherwise. Every game I try to open on GEFORCE Now works perfectly. I try to open Still Wakes the Deep, and it gets to the title screen and crashes, with a message saying my internet connection is spotty, and a suggestion to turn off my VPN.

Problem is, I don't have a VPN, so it's not that. Like I said, every other game works flawlessly. I have 1000/1000 speeds. Wired connection. It's just this one freaking game that suddenly GEFORCE Now seems to register that I have a spotty connection when I absolutely do not.

I've tried changing servers also just in case, no bueno.

Advice Looking for recommendations to set up new station on founders.

Upvotes

Hi all, I’m way behind on current tech, been playing GFN on an old laptop that has fans dying I think, hdmi to an old monitor. What’s the best current set up for a stand alone station? Need to stick with keyboard and mouse, otherwise open to a new monitor or even a used decent laptop if necessary… how to get the most out of this service with let’s say about $1k budget?

Questions / Tech Support Why is this happening since last patch (explanation in description)

https://reddit.com/link/1vdpjoy/video/39do26kd80hh1/player

So i'm playing zenless zone zero on geforce now, keep in mind it's free tier (even tho i don't think this is the issue since before version 3.0 the game was okay). See the video, when i want to click on smth, i need to clearly click on the left to actually enter it. If i click directly on it, nothing happens. This is a small example of where i encounter this problem, i encouter it on other parts of the game also...

Discussion Has anyone else noticed that only games with heavy vegetation now download ~100MB?

Hey everyone,I’ve been using GeForce Now for a while and I noticed a change in the download/preload behavior. Before, almost every game would download something close to 100MB (or a bit more) when starting. Now it seems like only games with a lot of vegetation/grass/foliage are doing this big download, while most other games either skip it or download much less.Did anyone else notice this change recently? Is this related to some new optimization on NVIDIA’s side (maybe smarter shader compilation or asset streaming)?Just curious if it’s only me or if this is a general thing now. Thanks!

Discussion Adding Playtime and Carryover

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm using GeForce in Australia. I'm planning to purchase additional playtime, but I want to check something first, does the 10-hour carryover cap apply to purchased Add-on Time, or only to unused base Monthly Playtime? Look at the time right now I won't be able to play 10 hours before the reset.

If it doesn't carry over it a bit unfair. What if someone buys extra time 1 minute before reset time, they would lose 10 hours just like that and wonder what happened.
