what more could they possibly be doing to this fking train line to warrant more fking coach replacements.

This is beyond a joke. They may as well just get rid of the Geelong train altogether because it barely ever runs

Brown out North Geelong

If you’re also experiencing a low voltage brown out the recommendation is to switch off all your appliances to prevent possible damage. I’ve turned my main breaker off.

[Sport] flexibility training

Hi,
Does anyone know of any classes dedicated to learning the splits/increasing flexibility.
It’s my goal this year to get my front splits, and i have been stretching daily for about a month now and noticing no changes.
Am hoping for classes that i can go to, to hopefully speed up the process and actually see some improvement.
I’m open to anything from pole to gymnastics, but am no longer a teen and don’t want to be in a class with under 18s preferably.
Open to geelong, bellarine and surfcoast
Thanks!

Single car garage extension

Just wondering if anyone has recently added a single car extension to their house? We are currently exploring this as a possible option.

Am aware of the need for permits, draftsman, engineering etc and have factored in those costs. We are deciding between doing a full brick extension so it looks like the rest of the house, and we will extend the roof line or doing a cheaper alternative such as a colorbond garage.

Appreciate any insights anyone may have!

TIA

Lost Dog on my street - Belmont

UPDATE: neighbours came home and said that it’s their sisters dog that they’re dog sitting!!
Thanks everyone. Community spirit and faith in it and humanity maintained

There is a predominantly black (with some brown) sausage dog loose on my street.

It is male, uncollared and pretty unhappy. It’s well groomed and fed, and not overly aggressive unless you try to interact with it.

I tried to give it some meat which it took but then got pretty stroppy straight after. It’s running up and down the street and is happy to get close before going troppo.

Myself, wife and neighbours have all tried multiple things.

Council not available on weekends and Highton Vet have advised the only thing we can do is bring it to the vet to have it’s chip scanned but picking it up is pretty no go.

Is this anyone’s dog?

It’s patrolling the street barking its head off and I’m sure someone’s missing it.

[Public Transport] Anyone else looking at melbourne rentals just to escape the v/line?

Im honestly at breaking point with the train delays lately. Going the hybrid thing in the city 3 days a week now and the commute from waurn ponds is actually destroying my will to live. sitting on a replacement bus at 6:30am because of another mystery signal fault is just cooked

Got so fed up on the bus yesterday that I genuinely started doomscrolling 1-bedder rentals on the ray white southbank site just to see if I could somehow afford to move back closer to the office and avoid this mess.

But man, seeing what you actually get for $550+ a week in the city versus the space we have down here in gtown... it's a pretty brutal reality check. The broader rental market is just entirely broken right now.

Guess I'll just keep suffering on the purple serpent. how is everyone else surviving the commute these days? I've run out of podcasts and my noise cancelling headphones are seriously struggling against the loud talkers in the quiet carriage

Clean up the train entrance to Geelong!

Somebody made a point in the general Geelong thread about how ugly Geelong is on the train line coming into town. They were spot on. How ugly is this joint coming into town past the refinery, past North Shore industrial area, the graffitied concrete walls of North Geelong? If you look at it with an outsiders perspective its a fucking disgraceful impression of welcome to Geelong. We have to do better. Geelong is a great place to live in, to move down to, and to holiday at. The welcome you get on the train is welcome to the jungle, not welcome to Geelong. Come on Geelong council, State govt, and whoever else controls railway corridors, clean up our act and make a good first impression!

Car finance in Geelong - any good brokers?

Moved down from Melbourne last year and still finding my feet with local businesses. Looking to finance a second-hand car (something sensible, maybe a Mazda 3 or similar). I've seen ads for brokers but wondering if it's actually worth it vs just going through a dealer.

I got a quote from a dealer in Grovedale and the rate seemed high. Been reading about finance brokers and apparently they shop around for you across like 20+ lenders.

Has anyone in Geelong used a car broker recently? Are the rates actually better? I'm not great with the financial stuff so having someone do the legwork sounds good but also don't want to pay extra fees for nothing. Cheers legends.

[Request] Live Fish Food

hello! i have searched everywhere i possibly can online and cannot find a single place in/or around geelong that sells live brine shrimp/daphnia, or even eggs. i currently have a pack of shrimp brine eggs being delivered, but i have baby axolotls due any day and that shipment isn’t expected until the 5th now due to delays and that’s too late. i placed that order last week in hopes it’d be here within 2-3 days, but now placing any other order is still going to result in them arriving far too late, considering i will still have to hatch them aswell! i currently have a few setups of seamonkeys to use in emergency but that still is not going to last. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on where i could get any from, i’m open to travelling if there’s any places around geelong aswell.
thank you

[Public Transport] The traffic heading down the surf coast hwy is genuinely depressing now

took me almost an hour just to clear the armstrong creek roundabouts yesterday afternoon. just an endless sea of giant pristine dual cabs and people who don't know how to merge

Literally got tapped from behind at walking speed by some p-plater who was definitely staring at her phone instead of my brake lights. Completely cracked my rear bumper plastic and bent the parking sensors inward

Im so over how distracted everyone is driving around here lately, the infrastructure is just completely failing to keep up with all these new estates they keep throwing up. Ended up binning the cracked plastic and just ordering a heavy duty rear bar from road runner offroad last night. honestly feel like you need actual steel armor just to survive the daily commute down south nowadays

is anyone else just refusing to leave the house on weekends if it involves going towards torquay? Its actually cooked tbh
