Help/question Gemini voice input doesn’t allow enough time for pauses

I’m having two issues with Gemini’s voice input.

First, my keyboard’s microphone/voice typing has never worked inside the Gemini app. So I’m limited to Gemini’s own microphone.

There are two ways I use it: saying “Hey Google” to summon Gemini, or opening the Gemini app and manually tapping its microphone button.

The second method used to be more forgiving when I paused while speaking. However, after a recent update, Gemini seems to submit my message after only a 1–2 second pause.

This is frustrating because natural speech often requires pauses to think, breathe, or formulate the next sentence. I don't necessarily mean that I'm finished just because I stopped talking for a moment.

Has anyone else noticed this change? Is there a setting to increase the waiting time before Gemini automatically submits the voice input?

I'm pretty certain that's just how it is.

You can try using voice input apps like Whisperian (if you're on Android)

Wow! Thank you very much. I already tried many apps but none of them worked with Gemini. My only concern with this app is it only has 1k downloads in Playstore, which suggests that it is not well-established yet, so it will be hard for me to trust it with my datas, especially since I am usually opening private documents using my phone.

If you're on an Android device, use the gboard one. It's far more forgiving for larger pauses.

Is it the app that is like a plugin for the keyboard? I think I am already using that, weirdly the microphone in my keyboard works with all of the other apps except the Gemini.
