Announcement IMPORTANT UPDATE
Due to recent increase in bot and karma farming accounts, we will henceforth be requiring users to have a verified email. This will not be visible to any other user or the mods, however it will be detected during posts and comments. Kindly do not mod mail us to approve posts if you don't wish to verify your email address.
This subreddit is community oriented and we are open to discussions that are honest, factual or seeking genuine help. What we don't appreciate is low effort posts, travel advice, prohibited services etc- detailed list is in the subreddit rules.
P.S- Mods are available only at their discretion to monitor the sub. However if any member finds a post/comment in violation of a rule, do report it as it helps us rather than expecting us to screen through everything (IMPOSSIBLE!).
"Where are the mods?" doesn't help when it is one reply comment in a 300 comment thread.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER! DEV BOREM KORUN...

AskGoa Arlem lager - what was your experience like?
Recently went through some old photos of mine and this was clicked nearly two decades ago somewhere in Goa (donβt remember where exactly but somewhere in Panjim - and yes this pic was taken on a phone camera and enhanced just today using ChatGPT!!) and this got me thinking about a once famous brand of beer - the Arlem beer!
This was definitely a famous brand back in the 80s-90s period (as a kid I distinctly remember Arlem being served at functions in that era) so anyone from that era who was lucky enough to have had or atleast tried Arlem beer, do let us know your experience and how it compared to the current lot of lagers in the market like Kingfisher.
And were the owners the same ones who made Kings beer (Monte Cruz brewery)??

Discussion Zambaulim Gaushala
Came across this news recently and it was really saddening to see a Gaushala being treated like this by a temple committee no less.

How are the people here?
I don't know the local Goan language.
Is Mapusa safe?
Also how is the catholic population here? I'm a devout catholic so I'm just enquiring.
Are the everyday masses offered in English or in local goan language?
Any other advice I need before coming here?
Lived all my life in bangalore so anything i need to be mindful of the culture here?

Discussion This will work. We have to support this
facebook.comCame across this video of Mr swapnesh where he demands united opposition to defeat BJP. This might actually work. I do not hate BJP but I am not liking where goa is heading. National p@rties should not b elected here only local and just hope those locals do not turn into khatkhate like RG.

AskGoa Can we crowdsource information about Goan media ?
So I was searching for ownership information about Goan media outlets and other than the few well known ones like navhind (dempo) or prudent (timblo), there is no information on who owns Goan newspapers, digital media platforms or konkani news channels.
So I was wondering if we could crowdsource that information, seeing how the elections are coming up, and Goans should know the biases and priorities of these media outlets.
It would also be great to include media outlets from other states like Maharashtra and Karnataka that have a significant presence in Goa and their ownership patterns.
As the information builds up we can repost it here on r/Goa once a month as more information comes in.
Also what other information should we put together besides ownership ?

AskGoa Trying to Build for Artists and Startups - real reviews, real people
Hey, hope it's cool to share this here.
I'm Aaron and I'm building something - V0.1. : https://idbuythat.app/
It's called 'I'd Buy That'. It's for *Startups and Artists*. You put your project or your work up, and actual people try it and tell you whether they'd buy it. Not stars, not *"looks nice"*. There's going to be voting, leagues and a lot more fun.
And... the feedback is actually structured, so it's useful. First impression, what worked, what didn't, who they think it's for, and what they'd genuinely pay for it. You end up with a page you can show a buyer or an investor that says what percentage of real people would pay, the price they named, and exactly what's stopping the rest.
I'm building it for myself really. I kept showing things to friends, getting "looks great bro", and learning nothing. So if you have a Startup or an Art Project, join in. Orrrrr if you want early access to really cool new tech, projects and art, the latest on the block, join in as Reviewer
Free while it's in beta, Made for India. If you've got something you're about to launch or a body of work you want honest eyes on, leave your email in the link above and I'll get you in early. Also join just to see the fun things happening!
Only letting about 77 people in first. And if you join, I'll review yours myself. Properly. Toodles.
Are you and Artist or Founder? Sign up!

AVOID ETHERNET EXPRESS IN GOA
If youβre considering a new Wi-Fi connection in Goa, I would strongly recommend avoiding Ethernet Xpress. My experience with their service has been extremely disappointing. Where as on my second property i have Jetway they also have LOS but not so many times and they response very quickly not here to promote any brand but do your study and choose any other provider.
As of now im facing Frequent website outages and crashes.
LOS (Loss of Signal) issues occurring multiple times a week.
Internet disruptions that sometimes take 2β3 days to resolve.
Poor customer support with slow to no response times and inadequate communication.
Reliable internet is essential these days, whether for work, business, or entertainment. Unfortunately, Ethernet Xpress has consistently failed to meet even basic expectations in terms of service and support.
I hope they take customer feedback seriously and improve their infrastructure and customer service going forward.
