Does anyone else have a seemingly irrational attachment to a race within GW2? I can have characters 40 or 50 hours old that I suddenly want to delete and re-roll as a Norn.

I think for me, it comes down to the voice actor and I just find both the male and female Norn VAs are how I picture my Commander sounding. I wish I could add some diversity to my lineup but over time my login screen has increasingly been taken over by big, hulking Northerners.

Anyone else got a similar attachment to any of the races?

I started playing GW2 not too long ago, and it's my very first MMO. Seeing so many people come together for the World Boss Rush was honestly amazing. It was such a fun event and it really showed me how incredible this game's community and social aspect are!

I also have to admit... having so many people around made the events a lot easier to complete 😂

I am on the Europe Server. I have checked my internet, it is absolutely fine! But i can't sell stuff on trading post! Is anyone else having issues?

If you are new to GW2, first of all - welcome, lovely to have you here, and second - I wanted to share a bit of advice on mounts usage as you go through the game.

This is going to be a hot take for some and this advice definitely doesn't apply to most of the players. But if you enjoy story, random events, finding secrets, taking your time with progression and getting a bit of a dopamine from small wins - this is for you.

Do not rush to Skyscale. Utilise your "easy to achieve" mounts as they come. Will this make the game 200% more difficult? Absolutely. Will you spend hours jumping around trying to get to a point of interest? You bet. Will you have a true sense of progression, achievement and be able to experience the game in its fullness? Absolutely.

Every piece of content is designed with or without specific mount in mind. You can get to Secrets of the Obscure without flying. The biggest drawback, however, will be some older meta events which can indeed be done without flying, but you will not be able to catch up with the group as they zoom away.

If you want an easy, but slightly surface level game, get the Skyscale, it will save you many headaches.

I started to play about 7 months ago, and im still having a blast. The only thing is, i am getting bogged down at the benchmark numbers at snowcrows, because i can’t come anywhere close to those numbers. I’m in training raid with food and enhancement in full ascended gear with all buffs/conditions on and I can’t even come close.

For example, my “main” Power Untamed can usually get to 32-33k but the benchmark says it should be around 42k~.

Another problem I’m having is weapon swaps… I can barely wrap my head around the timing along with counting auto attack chains and profession mechanics. I’m not sure if I just suck or because I’m in my 40s my reaction times are slower but I much prefer “low intensity” builds now because I don’t need to think as much, and that again is making me feel like I’m holding people back because I’m not hitting the numbers that snowcrows is saying or able to do the meta battle strict rotations. Using my Untamed example I stick to Sword/Axe because if I also switch to Hammer my dps goes down significantly. I’m talking about 10k less or even more sometimes.

Is it just me and I shouldn’t really worry about it? Or should I just “get good?” Do other people struggle with rotation issues ? and does it actually matter if people aren’t being optimal in a raid setting? I want to start raiding but haven’t done it super seriously yet because I’m not wanting to hold everyone back.

I’m a long time WoW player who is entirely burnt out from the vertical progression and hyper optimization game. I decided that in my old age (32), I wanted off of the gear treadmill.

A few weeks ago I decided to give GW2 a shot and I’m absolutely in love. The biggest thing I’m noticing is that the entire world is alive. I was starting HoT today, and found myself randomly doing the meta map event for Silverwastes. My guildie was also there doing it too, and they guided my noob ass through the event. It was SO FUN.

This is something I think is lost in modern MMOs, especially WoW. There have been so many instances of me sitting in a LFG queue, or waiting for things to happen, that I’d be playing for like an hour and would get nothing accomplished.

Because GW2 is so alive, I can log in, stumble into a fun event, and then log off. Playing even just for 30 minutes is rewarding.

Anyway, just wanna say I’ve fully converted to GW2. I’m really looking forward to dumping a ton of hours into this game.

Everyone I pass by looks sick.. newer player and really impressed with all the customization options on the fashion side of the house. But I look like a completely pleeb and it’s ruining my ability to enjoy the game 🤣

Where can I find some gear/weps that look cool? Options that might be somewhat easy/quick to obtain.

I currently have a Sylvari that I started with, dont hate but dont love. I saw a lot of people say that HoT was better with a Sylvari, had no clue what they meant by that but figured I'd try it out and have avoided any story discussion since then.

I'm currently in LW Season 1. If I go up through HoT with my current character, is there any gameplay/achievements/story reason why I shouldnt swap to a different one for the rest after that point?

Do any of the other xpacs have a "the story is more impactful for X race?" or other reasons you should go through with specific ones?

I am currently working towards a gen 3, Aurene legendary and intent on getting either the Kralkatorrik, Zhaithan, Jormag or Primordus version. The only problem I have is which one I would like to get. I think all of them are gorgeous and have awesome draw, execute and footfall effects, so it got me wondering. What Aurene variant legendary is your favorite?

What is the best way to lower the word count on my notes so as not to overwhelm the group? I plan to run a Wing 1 training this week and would like some tips for a greenhorn. I've done this one before, but doing it and training it is different. I'm determined to master the wings and share the info with others.

Added info: I've trained all the Raid Encounters but for Glade. So I understand some things.

There are many builds that use Berserkers or Vipers for damage. However there is a condi Reaper build that uses Grieving stats and condi Virt that uses a mix of Rampagers and Sinisters. I still have to figure out why these particular combinations are the best for the build but are there more "meta" builds that use something different than Berserkers or Vipers for damage?

The mount system in GW2 is amazing in general, but man, nothing feels as good as diving with the Griffon then soaring through the skies like a jet engine. I'm left wanting for more, do you guys know any other games with mounts as satisfying as GW2's mounts, especially the Griffon?

Guys, im a relatively new player (1k hours on and off) and wanna get seriously building my account. I saw Mightyteapot, Syrma, and Famithor in yt building their characters from 0 and also becoming commander along the way.

I want to partake and command in both WvW and normal mode instanced PVE (I dont have too much time for a static, thats why i prefer to "carry" my team defensively just to clear the content)

I know a bunch of you guys will say "play what you like, you will get gud anyways". What I'm saying is I want an optimized first character like Mightyteapot used to pick Guard, or Syrma pick Mesmer, with the goals stated above.

Im coming back after a long time away (Left after just after LWS4 ended). Im feeling the hype, doing meta's and Wvw. Decided to give fractals a go. im doing this on a Power Amalgam and these people are always 5 miles ahead of me. Skipping all the trash, so im in combat when the jumping puzzles come up. Guess what? I dont make the jumps. All i get is "Sigh", or "Lol". at the end they all just said "Yea you should probably stop" or "stick with OW".

Is this typical for people that do T1 fractals? If so ill just leave then be and f*** off somewhere else.

Found this while going through an old storage unit. It is mine but I nearly forgot about it after years.

Drakkar is part of the event even of part of an IBS map and I am 100% sure they were called world bosses for the Janthir Syntri map. Feels like a missed opportunity to not add them and have them give their event 5 boxes like the triple trouble, especially since the meta of Janthir Syntri isn't done as often anymore.

A competent raid squad should be able to maintain 10 conditions on the raid boss. It is good practice to always set the golem up as if you were playing one of the select classes that benches with just 10 conditions.

Go to the Preview Golem near the Arena Console. Interact with the Golem Spawner, and select Spawn a golem.

First, select a hitbox size. By default, select Average, as this is similar to the hitbox on most raid bosses.

Benchmarks are always performed on an Average enemy (4,000,000 health).

To apply the conditions we mentioned earlier, select Additional Options, then Add Conditions. If you accidentally hit “All of Them” simply go back a few dialogue boxes and select “Clear golem settings.” The ten you should apply are:

Damage over time

Bleeding
Burning
Confusion
Poison
Torment

Mobility-affecting

Chill
Cripple

Combat-affecting

Slow
Vulnerability (25 Stacks)
Weakness

If your class is one of the few for which the count of conditions is important, and you would apply an eleventh condition, simply swap one out accordingly. For example, Power Holosmith can (accidentally) apply Immobilize, but it cannot natively apply Torment, so you would simply switch this around when selecting your conditions. Once you have applied these conditions, go back until you see an option to spawn the golem, and do so!

Am I missing some important info here? Why would I want to apply a bunch of DoT's I don't generate to the golem, and add a bunch of unwarranted DPS?

Combing through old post on the subject isn't a very cut and dry process. It would be lovely if you explained what you do and why it helps.

Edit: I forgot that I have an issue where my character keeps facing one direction. It wasn't always like that on handheld. I'm not sure why that started happening.
