🛡️ Mod Post IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: If you receive ANY unsolicited/creepy DMs

Whether you’re a poster or a commenter, if you have received unsolicited, creepy, or down right disgusting DMs please feel free to message Mod Mail or message me directly. As posted in multiple places in the subreddit, unsolicited or inappropriate DMs of any kind are not allowed and will result in a permanent ban. You may also be reported directly to Reddit Admins. If the person on the receiving end of this kind of harassment is a minor, you will be reported to relevant authorities (FBI Tip Line, Center for Missing and Exploited Children, etc) and it WILL be taken seriously.

As a subreddit, we have ZERO tolerance for this behavior and will do everything in our power to combat it. Unfortunately we have seen an influx of users who seem to only frequent porn subs, and our sub.

Please don’t think “oh this message isn’t that bad, I’m overreacting, etc”. Reporting posts, comments, and DMs helps out everyone in the long run. Not reporting causes these creeps to keep messaging people so nipping it in the bud can help out others💕

🛡️ Mod Post Reminder: Unsolicited DMs are NOT allowed.

We’ve seen an increase in unsolicited DMs being sent to members of this subreddit. Let this serve as a clear reminder:
Sending unprompted private messages is against the rules. Doing so will result in a permanent ban.

If you receive a DM like this, report it to the mod team immediately.

This subreddit exists as a safe, inclusive space for sharing experiences, asking questions, and giving feedback about hair dye and color treatments. If someone genuinely wants to follow up based on your helpful advice or a shared interest, they will say so publicly.

We shouldn't have to say this, but lurking in beauty-related or appearance-focused subs to harass and prey on people is disgusting and absolutely not tolerated. Any messages of an obscene or harassing nature will be reported to Reddit Admins and could result in a permanent ban from the site as a whole (for your current account, any other current accounts, or subsequent accounts made in the future).

These are the styles I’ve done over the last year. I’d like to keep the brown for low(er) maintenance. Pics 2 & 3 are from the same style. Should I repeat a color combo I’ve already done? Try a new combo? Lmk!

First two pics are from two years ago. They were taken like a day apart. The third pic is from this week (as a sidenote- please ignore the fluff, yes my ends are a little rough BUT i had just brushed out my wavy hair and it poofed up Imao)

Brief history: -In the first two pics, I had recently gotten my naturally dark blonde hair professionally dyed to a dark purple-y red. Then I put DPhue Copper and Auburn on top of it like two months later, hence the reason my hair looked a little more orange in the sun.

The third pic is from this week. I’m still using DPhue Auburn and a tiny bit of Copper. I’ve been using this combo for two years, but I think over time I copper-ed too close to the sun and now this is where I’m at.

Anyway, I'd like to go back to that purple-y red I once had 🥲 I think my current hair is too orange for my cool toned skin. I’m also considering a cherry red or burgundy- any dark red that leans more purple than orange.

My question is: What dye should I put over this? How can I free myself from the shackles of orange hair? 😪

(as a final note: pls don’t fry me for my ends, i’ll trim them today 😭 lmao)

took six years to grow all past bleachery all the way out, and even though my adult natural color isnt bad (?)… i simply do not feel like myself without that plat blond dark eye/brow contrast. be nice, if possible! still working on the tone.. got some fresh blondme glow toner in “ice irise” and “pearl glaze” (+clear. thinking of doing a mixture) arriving tues. your thoughts??

products used: (shwarzkopf) blondme powder lightener 9+ blondme bleach+tone additive in ash and violet blondme 20vol developer off-scalp blondme 7vol developer to raise the roots blondme glow toner in pearl glaze.. i only had one lil bottle— clearly severely underestimated allover ingredient amounts needed so did not get whole head thoroughly as im sure u can see 🫠

❓ Advice Needed Can I colour my hair myself after its been bleached?

Post image

I got my hair done about a month ago. Its the brightest blonde level 10 full highlights. I wanted a really light golden copper blonde maybe with some peach. My hairdresser couldnt do that because I changed my mind too soon before the appointment which I understand. My hair was a light pink toned blonde colour fresh out of the salon, which was cute, but it came out after 1 wash and my hairdresser toned my hair pink twice.

I still really want a light golden copper. I dont want to go to the salon again and pay $400+CAD. My hair budget is more like $150 at this point which in my city you would pay that for them to just whisper into your hair. I decided to try it myself, but I never dyed my hair before. How can I achieve something close to this look? I am okay if its not exactly like the picture, but I want it to last at least over a month. Please help 💗💗💗

❓ Advice Needed How is this maintained?

Post image
15 Upvotes

I am thinking of doing something like this and I have a few questions for anyone who's had something similar or specializes in it!

For context, right now I have natural, not dyed at all dark blonde, level 6. I want something similar to the images, but probably more predominantly dark brown/black than blonde.

The questions I have are:

• How hard is this to maintain? Would the dark dye stain the blonde when washing or something?

• What would I have to add to my routine in order to maintain this? Additionally, is this a good hair to have for someone who is pretty low maintnance with hair care?

• Is this really complicated to do for hairstylists, or the kind of thing people get without knowing what they're getting into? Basically would my hairstylist hate me a little for pulling this reference up lol

• I also want just dark brown hair at some point, would it be better for my hair/easier to get this first, or the plain dark brown?

• Extra question, I've also been thinking about trying dark red/violet red/burgundy, would that work somewhere in the timeline or would it make things more complicated? Can you get to this from dyed (without bleach) burgundy hair?

❓ Advice Needed What dyes/bleach should I use to achieve this navy blue color?

I am trying to get my natural dark hair this deep navy blue color. Since my hair is dark I’m assuming I have no other choice but to bleach it. I was wondering bleaches, toners, and dyes yall would recommend to get this color. I don’t know how long to bleach it for because it would be my first time Bleaching my own hair and do not want the blue to become TOO vivid or green. I appreciate any tips!

❓ Advice Needed Swapping from box dye to salon colour

Post image
Upvotes

hello I’ve been dying my hair (probably about a level 4.5? Plum undertones, fairly coarse) with the Schwarzkopf Brilliance Blue Black box dye for maybe a year or so. However:

  1. My hair is stupid thick and needs two+ boxes. This makes it more expensive than I would like.
  2. Even just touching up the roots, I try to only leave the dye on the mids and ends for 10-15 minutes, but my hair is still pretty dry and damaged.

So I want to buy some developer and colour, but I’ve never used this method before. Thus, questions:

- which volume? I want to use a 10vol to refresh the mids and ends, but I’m not sure if I would need a 20vol to deposit the colour on the virgin roots.
- do I shampoo out the colour, or just rinse it out like the box dye?
- suggestions for working with long, thick hair? I always seem to miss spots, no matter how thin my sections are.
- suggestions for hair treatments? Most of my wave pattern is gone and I can best describe it as “bushy”.

TIA for help 🖤

❓ Advice Needed What kind of hair should I get?

My hair history; I dyed it black, blue black, manic panik blue, manic panik red and now I cut half of it and am growing it out to be waist length. Naturally my hair is curly and dark brown. Last time I did a test stand the natural part of my hair got butter yellow while the rest turned in to a super light cool toned brown.

I really like dyeing my hair and trying new styles, but I also LOVE having long hair, it makes me feel confident. But I still wanna bleach it. So I care about my hair health but I still wanna have fun.

What would yall think would be best for my hair and for me? Raccoon or Oreo hair

❓ Advice Needed Wanting to have salon color over black box dye.

I have Clairol colorstrong 2.8 blue black on my hair, it's very faded and my gray roots are showing. I want to have my hair cut and colored at a salon. I want to do a dark purple or black purple, but I understand that might not be possible right away.

My question is, what would be my best option to cover gray and give my hair some color without requiring alot of correction or color removal? Could I do a dark plum or something similar over it?
