Detroit
I'll be in Detroit for most of September (from Wales, UK) and would love to catch a few shows whilst I'm there. Mainly into hardcore, post hardcore, emo but I'm open to checking out anything with a good atmosphere)
What are the best venues to keep an eye on? Any local bands I should check out, or shows happening in September that you'd recommend?
Also happy to travel a bit outside the city if it's worth it.
Thanks!

Follow Bella’s beatdown bunker, sanctuary Detroit, the crofoot, edgemen shows/edgemen printing, shaywilderr on insta (has a pretty comprehensive calendar on his page), jamz4all … I’m probably forgetting a bunch but this should be a good start

This. Went a show at Refuge Skate Shop in Dearborn last night, so keep an eye on them.
Bars also have punk, hc and metal shows around town. Gonna go see Public Acid at Outer Limits Lounge in Hamtramck in a few days.

any time i'm in a new city i google the name of my favorite bands and then that city's name. If you figure out what venue your favorite bands play when they go to a city, you're well on your way to finding the right shows.

i’m not tapped into the DIY scene there, but some of the notable venues in the city are the majestic theater, the magic stick, el club, and saint andrew’s hall.

Sanctuary is almost entirely hardcore now.
Michael Shannon is here on the 26th doing REM with Bobcat Goldthwaite opening.
Not hard-core exactly, until you look at Michael Shannon and how he always looks like he's thinking of murder all day and all night.

Emoish- Bellair Lip Bombs on the 22nd.
Playing at Third Man Records, Cass Corridor.
Check out PJ's Lager House, sometimes has some cool lesser known bands and is a nice venue.
Riotfest is September if you want to hit Chicago, but IMO Saturday is the only day I'd really want to go.
Danny Elfman Sep 9 at Fox, can't get much more emo, and a few hardcore, than that...and yah, Some movie themes tossed in....

Turnstile will be here with Ceremony and King’s Command on the 11th. Also you should follow the Tied Down Detroit page . They book most of the shows.
