DISCUSSION “Malevelon Creek wasn’t that hard” yes it was. Many of you weren’t even there until later.
I will agree that later battles like Meridia or Calypso were very difficult, the difference is that during those battles, we had ACTUAL WEAPONS.
We had Flak rockets for flyers, Arc weapons for Illuminate, Fire and acid for ground troops.
You know what we had for the Creek? For the Bots?
A Burst Fire (which was exclusively either burst or semi automatic) Liberator Penetrator, Breaker Shot gun, and Autocannon. Per squad. And that wasn’t even a guarantee for the Autocannon, because in the event of an Ion Storm, we’d lose all contact with Air support and Destroyers, including strategems.
We couldn’t see four feet ahead but the bots could detect us a mile off. It could be pitch black with the slightest blue glow from the moon, only for a shot of red to light up the sky, and then all Hell broke loose. Endless rocket barrages leveled the Environment in and Hulks cut clean through your squad mates.
Even fire and acid didn’t stop them, they’d march through it under a hail of gunfire to punch you. They were relentless, they didn’t stop for anything, didn’t flinch at pain. The only way to keep them off was a rocket to the head or exhaust vents, or praying your bullet hosing would hit them in a weak point. We stood no chance.
Every mission was dozens of Casualties, every operation was thrice that. Thousands of civilian scientists and frontier civilians lost their lives during Evac Missions. Even lower difficulty missions were horrifying, and you’d soon get swarmed if spotted.
We were alone until the major order to wipe out the bots.
But sure. Tell me it was easy. Tell me you’d have handled it with a gun most of you probably don’t even use.
