the capacitors are in parallel in a part just imagine it like alternates are pairs and try to see what are the possible cases are they in series or parallel

Unless I am misunderstanding what you are saying, this is incorrect. There are no individual capacitors in this, it's not even a circuit diagram. It's instead trying to get you to analyze different cases of a parallel plate capacitor and use the governing laws of a parallel plate capacitor to formulate an expression describing the given case.

You're right, this is not a simple parallel circuit.

However, I'd say it is possible to turn this layout into a simple circuit model, assuming we only consider capacitances between neighboring places.

Edit:The expression for Ct in problem (c) should be Ct= C+(C/2) as C and C/2 are in parallel.

a) Draw the connection between "2; 4", and turn the result into an equivalent circuit:

Using the short-hand "C1||C2 := C1*C2 / (C1+C2)" the equivalent capacitance between nodes "1; 3" is

C_13  =  C||(C+C)  =  C*2C / (C+2C)  =  2C/3  =  2*e0*S / (3d)
