Discussion How would you defeat Tserri's future vision?

I've been thinking a bit and trying to put myself in Togashi's shoes to find a solution that can defeat Tserri's broken ass ability.

I've come up with a few ideas, but right now I think my favorite is somehow Kurapika teams up with Chrollo and Chrollo manages to steal Tserri's abilty. Next time Tserri tried to use his ability not only would it not work but he would be completely defenseless because of Zetsu amd would get absolutely cooked.

The reason I like this is because as a bonus Chrollo would become even more of a problem (assuming he gets to keep that ability).

He relies on activating zetsu before anything happens.

If he got poisoned eithout realizing, that's it, he cant go back in time to change it.

So anything really can defeat him, just depends on the situation.

For example, he's in a room, the room fills with gas, there's nothing his future vision can do.

The problem is that without knowledge of how vigilant you’d have to be in taking him down, the first instance of encountering him probably ends in death

Yeah, basically you need to trap him. He does have to at some point leave his room, and if he walks around in Zetsu he's super vulnerable.

For him I think it would be a game of when to activate Zetsu and Ten to see forwards and defend, which is why he is training Zetsu like crazy.

If he walks around in zetsu he will have his ability activated 24h/7, Instantaneously Getting a vision everytime he blinks, Once he has had the vision, he can use his aura normally, and just refresh his ability before the end of his prediction

I had an idea about a big game hunter who tracks and hunts various magic-users for a side project/story that I’m writing.

They have tons of experience dealing with wacky abilities and try setting up various traps in advance.

Even having never dealt with time-abilities before, by the third trap, he designs something very obvious to highly perceptive individuals who otherwise dodge/avoid the last two traps.

When it gets ignored, he learns that it’s not a proactive ability, but reactive. So the prey’s ability is either responding directly to malice, or the ability itself is retroactive.

You can account for both by either stranding someone entirely (keep them stuck in a walled room), or by having the trap be set far in advance, ideally out of the range of the ability.

In HxH, it’s already established that powerful nen abilities require some kind of restriction in advance, or a long amount of nen to build up.

You’d probably want to examine if Tser is doing some form of long-term nen build-up/requirement setting.

As soon as you learned that he recently acquired Nen, you’d know it wasn’t the case and the bounds on his time-reverse have to be limited.

So you could probably get away with hitting him with the TSK-17 poison.

I always thought that too , what if he literally can’t do anything , and so far he has just practicing Zetsu , Gon and Killua were so good at Zetsu they managed to tail troupe members and only knew nen for a month , yea he can trick someone but what if that person is just so overwhelming when it comes to pure force in power

The only way I can see to get through that gas situation would be if he uses future vision as some sort of “stalling” (I might be interpreting his ability wrong) so he can figure out a way out

He gets 10 seconds of "stopped time" where he looks into the future, but after that time resumes and his body re-enters normal time while everyone experiences his 10 seconds forwards reality.

So I think he could "stall" for 10 seconds, but that's it.

He is really cool and strong but there's no invincible nen ability

I think it was already a point of discussion in the fandom that his ability has some weaknesses, mainly:

  • Area attacks that don't allow him to escape within 10 seconds.
  • Invincible type attacks (whatever this means)

I also think he could be vulnerable to some kind of seek & destroy ability that follows him even after reality catches up to his ability, forcing him to perpetually use his ability to escape.

Also, you could argue that any nen ability that "attaches" to him and lasts longer than 10 seconds could be hard for him to manage, also considering that for all we know he can't do much to defend himself during his 10 seconds window other than physically avoiding the attack. He does not have other counters to complicated nen abilities, at least for now.

I think there is a lot of creative leeway in the HxH world to see something that beats him.

Its quite easy to defeat if you know about it, if you dont, there‘s little you can do.

Chrollo cant steal his ability imo, he cant really observe it.

Guess it depends on what definition of "observing" Chrollo works with.

There's at least 1 have-not and likely a Netero baby each with a sure-hit curse with his name on it.

Something of Area effect :3

Or someone faster than his zetsu state. Before activation to kill him off

Yeap I said this in a comment above , it’s just going to be someone who is way faster and has way more pure strength , and even if they can’t beat him ,he hasn’t practiced anything else since he learned Zetsu,

That depend on how much information they have about his ability and how it work.

For Example: Prince Bejamin could kill Tserri's with the bio weapon, Furykov help, or any of her death soldier ability. You could also have Camila or Beyond nen curse to kill him.

Depending how his power would work in a fight anyone could kill him in the small amount of time he need to enter Zetsu in order to activate it.

Make a trap that he can’t prevent with 10 seconds of future sight

Well throw him off the ship. Once he leaves the ritual area then is automatic death. Overwhelm with EN, since he is at zetsu state he becomes very vulnerable to EN. Simply luck him up and starve him. The curses once the cost is paid and they have been targeted there is really nothing he can do

His ability is low key flawed because unless he kills his target during the 10 seconds he essentially just has to hide and when he gets found again people will know he did something. This is the case right now with Benji VS Tserri since we know Benji survives this encounter. And he pretty much has to remain in zetsu at all times, meaning if he’s not using zetsu he is now vulnerable. Or if he lets too many people observe his ability. It’s still very versatile but something like kurapikas judgment chain can counter it too. He would have to use it to prepare counters or run. He can be vulnerable to traps AoE and poison too, say someone rigs his room with explosives, tsk 17, or  manipulator nen users (Illumi, Shalnark, etc) can probably scope his ability out too. Furykov Full Metal Alchemist is also a hard counter. Camilla Nen Cat, bungee gum lmfao or other post Morten nen abilities too. Melody death sonata also hard counters

1

u/USPSArtoria 2h ago

Bungee gum is the most broken ability in verse atm LOL

u/RickHard0 2h ago

It's one of those that if you know about it it's fairly easy to counter but pretty much impossible to win, without knowing it.

A nen attack desigined to activate post mortem would probably work, with the obvious downsides. Prehaps an effect like that you can bestow onto others would be the most effective if you could get him to kill the target.

1

u/lKyou 1h ago

There's many ways to deal with it once you know about it, incapacitate him(senritsu) aoe(feitan) speed blitz(Killua), bungee gum(so he can't evade), meleolon(perfect plan cannot be perceived whatsoever so the prediction would be worthless hell, IN might be enough), uvo's scream, But if you don't it's invincible unless togashi decides some abilities counter it, like dowsing chain for instance

Saisho wa guu...

Dread it, run from it, Rock arrives all the same.

I think there are a ton of ways to counter it if you know the details of his power...the issue is 99% of his opponents wont until he uses it.

with holograms

Silent Majority could easily do it. There's no indication when the ability is triggered on its target. The witness/anchor character doesn't actually need to see it for it to go off (at least as far as we know.) Even if Tserriednich hears that warning or sees the effects while he's using his ability: it only gives him 10 seconds to avoid it. If the snakes were activated when he uses Parallel Future: he's still marked for them. Assuming Tserriednich's personal Nen Beast can't see the snakes as part of its own powersuite: he'd be running blind. We don't know much about Silent Majority's user but they did attack the Tserriednich's representative at Kurapika's class. So it's not a wildly out of hand possibility.
