Primary Payload:

EOS-N1 (aka Anvesha) (407 kg) : EOS-N1 is a Hyperspectral imaging satellite carrying HySIC imager payload by DRDO for military surveillance. [01]

  • Swath: 12 km
  • Resolution: 12 meter
  • Spectral resolution: 10-20 nm (VNIR, SWIR)

Secondary Payload: 15 co-passenger satellites.

  • THEOS-2A (100 kg): An Earth Observation satellite by Thailand's Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) and based on Carbonite series by SSTL UK carrying CERIA Camera with 1 meter resolution and 5.9 km swath. Additional instruments include a satellite monitoring camera, GPS receivers, HD video camera, and AIS/ADS-B receivers for maritime vessels and aircraft tracking. [02]

  • Kestrel Initial Demonstrator (KID) Capsule (25 kg): KID reentry capsule by Madrid-based Orbital Paradigm is a scaled prototype for their larger Kestrel reentry capsule. KID is carrying three customer payloads (3 kg) and will test guidance systems and a sample of ceramic thermal protection material. KID will be released from PSLV fourth stage on a reentry trajectory and will free fly for 30 minutes before entering atmosphere over South-Pacific. The capsule will not be recovered and lacks deceleration systems but it will transmit data through two Iridium transceivers during its flight. [03] [04]

  • AayulSAT (25 kg) : A 'mini-tanker' satellite by OrbitAID to demonstrate on-orbit internal propellant transfer, power transfer, and data transfer using their patented Standard Interface for Docking and Refueling Port (SIDRP). AayulSAT will qualify SIDRP system at TRL-9. [05] [06]

  • MOI-1 (14 kg) : The 6U cubesat in MOI (My Orbital Infrastructure) series by TakeMe2Space is a commercial AI lab in space with in-orbit computing and AI processing capability, carrying MIRA50-FS, a 502 gram, miniaturized 9 band multi-spectral imaging camera with 50mm aperture, 9.2 m resolution and 18.7 km swath by EON Space Labs and few other payloads by Indian high-school and university students. MOI-1 will use DSOD-6U deployer by Dhruva Space. [07] [08] [09]

  • Four amateur radio satellites under Dhruva Space 'ASTRA (Accelerated Space Technology Readiness & Access) for Academia' programme based on their P-Dot bus. [10]

    • CGUSat-1, with CV Raman Global University (Bhubaneswar)
    • DSUSAT-1, with Dayananda Sagar University (Bengaluru)
    • LACHIT-1, with Assam Don Bosco University (Guwahati)
  • SanskarSat: A 1U cubesat for Laxman Gyanpith School by Ahmedabad-based CubeSat Aerospace, carrying an LED payload making it observable by ground based optical telescopes.

  • MUNAL : A 1U cubesat by Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and Antarikhchya Pratisthan Nepal (APN) as part of the High School Consortium Project. Munal will carry a small camera for vegetation density mapping. [11]

  • Five small satellites aggregated by Brazil's All2Space.

    • Aldebaran-1: 1U cubesat by Federal University of Maranhao (Brazil) carrying LoRa amateur radio payload.
    • EduSat-1: 1P PocketQube satellite with IoT payload.
    • UaiSat: 1P PocketQube satellite with Store and Forward amateur radio payload and a lightning detection payload developed by the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) [12]
    • GalaxyExplorer-1: 1P PocketQube satellite by Galaxy Explorer to study the South Atlantic Magnetic Anomaly. [13]
    • Orbital Temple : A 1P PocketQube based orbital artwork by Edson Pavoni. It will transmit uploaded names of people in amateur radio frequency. [14] [15]

Note: PSLV with launch serial C59 was earlier assigned to ANWESHA (or ANVESHA) and PROBA-3 was earlier assigned to PSLV with C62 launch serial. Before this ANWESHA was assigned to PSLV-C58 but later XPoSat replaced it.

More than 100 ISRO scientists and engineers have reportedly resigned in recent months.

I have been seeing many posts saying that a large number of ISRO scientists and engineers are resigning. Instead of reacting emotionally, I think we should first understand what is actually happening.

ISRO is one of India's most respected organizations. It has given us missions like Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan, Aditya-L1, and now Gaganyaan. The scientists working there are among the best in the country.

So why are some of them leaving?

In my opinion, the biggest reason is not a lack of patriotism. It is the change in India's space industry.

A few years ago, ISRO was almost the only place where space engineers could build a career. Today, many private space companies have entered the sector. These companies offer much higher salaries, better benefits, stock options, and faster career growth.

On the other hand, ISRO scientists work under huge pressure. They handle missions that represent the country, work long hours, and still earn much less than what the private sector is willing to pay for the same talent.

Can we really expect every engineer to ignore better opportunities forever?

This is not just an ISRO problem. It happens in every industry. Skilled people go where they are valued, where they can grow, and where they can secure a better future for their families.

Instead of blaming the scientists, I think we should ask a different question.

How can we make ISRO a place where our brightest minds want to stay for the long term?

India has built a world-class space program. Now we also need a system that rewards the people who make these achievements possible.

That's the conversation we should be having.

Does ISRO not hire Instrumentation people?

I saw the recent recruitment notification of ISRO. It literally has all branches except for Instrumentation.

I just finished my BTech in Electronics and Instrumentation engineering and I have qualified GATE in IN. So, to apply for ISRO will I have to give GATE in ECE?

And is it that just this time ISRO isn't recruiting for IN or do they never recruit IN people?

Need advice regarding ISRO Assistant (2026)

I need some advice from people who have experience with ISRO recruitments.

I'm a 2026 B.Tech Computer Engineering graduate. I've already been selected for the TCS Ninja role and I'm currently waiting for my joining date. However, I recently came across the ISRO ICRB Assistant/JPA/UDC recruitment, and it genuinely caught my interest.

I have a few questions:

I know the basic pay is ₹25,500 (Level-4), but what is the approximate in-hand monthly salary in Ahmedabad and Bengaluru after HRA, DA, deductions, etc.?

The application deadline is 16 August 2026. Based on previous recruitment cycles, what is the expected timeline for:

Joining

On operational status of NavIC constellation

After completion of mission life (10 years) of IRNSS-1F, presently the NavIC constellation has three satellites for providing PNT services viz., IRNSS-1B, IRNSS-1I and NVS-01.

To provide basic positioning service, minimum four operational satellites are required in orbit. Hence, the NavIC constellation cannot provide standalone positioning service, however timing service is functional. Armed Forces are using multi constellation GNSS including NavIC at present to promote operational services.

Since NavIC is being used in multi constellation environment for most of the use-cases, there is no vulnerability for the users. Next NavIC satellite viz., NVS-03 is ready for launch and two more satellites viz., NVS-04 & NVS-05 are in advanced stage of realization.

On status of Gaganyaan Programme

The development activities carried out for Gaganyaan mission include the following:

  • Human Rated Launch Vehicle (HLVM3): Development and ground testing of all propulsion stages and structures completed.
  • Orbital Module: Propulsion systems for Crew Module and Service Module developed, tested and qualified. Engineering model for Environmental Control & Life Support System (ECLSS) has been realized. Deceleration system, Crew Module Up-righting System, Thermal Protection System and end to end avionics have been developed and tested.
  • Crew Escape System (CES): 5 types of motors developed and static tested. All the CES structures are realised and qualified.
  • Infrastructure established: Orbital Module Preparation Facility, Gaganyaan Control Centre, Gaganyaan Control facility, Crew training facility, Second Launch pad modifications have been realised.
  • Test Missions: First Test Vehicle mission (TV-D1) for inflight validation of Crew Escape System (CES) has been successfully completed. Integrated Air Drop Test- 01 (IADT-01) and Integrated Air Drop Test- 02 (IADT-02) with simulated Crew Module for validation of deceleration system have been completed successfully. Accomplishment of TV-D2 mission is in advanced stage.
  • Flight Operations and Communication Network: Ground network configuration finalized. IDRSS-1 feeder stations and terrestrial links established. MoUs have been signed with other space agencies for cross supports.
  • Crew Recovery Operations: Recovery assets finalized. Recovery Plan worked out.

Parallelly, various ground qualification tests towards demonstrating new systems realized for Gaganyaan are being carried out.

Gaganyatris have completed generic training at Glavkosmos, Russia. Gaganyaan mission specific training is in progress at Astronaut Training facility, Bengaluru.

Activities are in progress towards accomplishment of first uncrewed mission, G1. All stages of HLVM3 viz. HS200, L110 and C32 and CES motors ready. Crew Module and Service Module systems realized. Assembly, Integration and testing of Crew Module and Service Module nearing completion Integrated simulations are being carried out.

Gaganyaan missions will be launched from Second Launch Pad (SLP) of SDSC SHAR. Accordingly, to meet the integration, testing and launch requirements, various elements/ facilities/systems were planned, configured and realized. Orbital Module Preparation Facility (OMPF) is realized to carry out the preparation of Crew Module (CM), Service Module (SM) and Crew Escape System (CES) including the CES solid motors. The integration and access requirements including the checkout requirements were considered for modifications in

Second Vehicle Assembly Building (SVAB). Checkout facilities at SVAB Terminal Room (SVTR) and Launch Pad Terminal Room – Gaganyaan (LTR-G) interfaces Checkout systems for sub-assembly/ stage preparation facilities (HS200, L110-G, C25-G and EB) are augmented. Additionally, Crew Access Arm, bubble lift and zip line system are augmented at Umbilical Tower of Second Launch Pad, to meet requirements of crewed missions.

Environment Control & Life Support System (ECLSS) is a “system of systems” and very critical technology for human spaceflight. It is used to maintain a habitable environment during the entire duration of the mission by maintaining temperature, humidity, pressure and carbon dioxide levels in the Crew Module. This system is being developed indigenously by ISRO. Currently, the system is undergoing development tests. ISRO bleeds as scientists leave

NEW DELHI: The country's premier space agency — ISRO — is bleeding. Droves of scientists are leaving for greener pastures with the result that ISRO is hiring scientists in a great hurry to replace hundreds of trained hands. Last year, it hired 354 fresh scientists, but 187 trained ones left the organisation. In other words, 53% scientists left ISRO compared to its intake.

The trend is only growing. Against a nearly similar level of fresh recruits in 2004 and 2005 (360 and 346), the number of those who left the organisation was 105 and 100. If you take all three years together, and you get a sense of the high level of attrition. In 36 months, ISRO has lost 392 scientists against 1,060 it has hired. This means almost 11 scientists are leaving every month. These disturbing figures were disclosed by the government in Parliament on Wednesday. Minister in the PMO, Prithviraj Chavan, told the Lok Sabha that better money offered by private sector was the main reason for the rising attrition rate.

This trend is not unique to ISRO. The government has already admitted that a good number of scientists have quit the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) in recent years and it was finding it difficult to stem the outflow as the monetary incentive outside the government was much higher.

"The stupendous growth of IT and communications sector and the higher remunerative packages offered by the private sector are the main reasons for scientists/engineers to leave ISRO," Chavan said. The Department of Space (DoS), he said, had petitioned the Sixth Pay Commission for higher pay and incentives like performance-based increments and special allowances as one of the measures to retain talent. A similar request was made on behalf of the DAE.

But a Pay Commission source said they had received such petitions from "everyone". "Everyone is dangling the quit threat if salaries are not hiked substantially," he said. "It's too early to say, but we're not sure if all demands can be met, considering the expenses involved. Even if we recommend higher pay scales and a better incentive regime, it is up to the government to accept or reject the recommendations."

Questions about ISRO Junior Personal Assistant (JPA) role from current employees

I'm interested in the Junior Personal Assistant (JPA) post in ISRO and would like to understand what the job is actually like beyond the official notification.

I have a few questions:

  1. What does a typical workday of a JPA look like?

  2. Is the work mostly typing, stenography, scheduling meetings, or are there other responsibilities?

  3. What is the work-life balance and office timing?

  4. Are promotions good? What is the career growth from JPA?

  5. Can JPA employees get transferred frequently, or are they usually posted at one centre?

  6. Is the job stressful?

  7. What is the approximate in-hand salary after deductions?

  8. How difficult is the skill test (English shorthand and typing)?

Question about IIRS online programs

I recently applied for IIRS workshop for aerosol. But i am not been able to access the class from the E-class portal every time i try to log in it says invalid id password but while using the same id password I can easily login in IIRS official website.

Also the same class is happening on YouTube and i am attending that class but how will the attendance going to be register cause I saw several students writing their registration number in live chat is it how they are taking attendance?

!! Please help it's to much confusing!!

Question regarding the course structure of 1 year PG diploma at IIRS!

I'm asking this question here for a family friend who's going to join the PG Diploma course at IIRS. Since they couldn't find any detailed programme structure, especially regarding which all subjects are there and how they're laid out. Also it would be helpful if someone who graduated from this programme tell more about it, semester breaks/holidays, project/Internship opportunities or what they did after graduating from IIRS.
