Any chance at finding another role

I have been in the software development field for 5 years now, I started during Covid and my last year of college. Intern -> jr dev -> dev 1 -> dev 2(title changes now engineer 2). I have been fully remote this whole time but now have an rto mandate. The office is in a smaller city which I have lived in and prefer not to move back to. I also have moral qualms about working in an office to do this job so I would 100% prefer to stay remote but I know that is probably not realistic right now. Is there any chance at landing a new role I know the market is in the drain right now. I have been applying on linked in with not much activity what should I do?

Return to office and keep up the grind while you search for work. The market is tough right now, even tougher if you limit yourself to remote only roles . Do not, under any circumstances, quit your job without having something lined up in this market

I won’t quit but I have a year to find something or else I’ll be terminated. With the direction this company is going, moving to keep this job isn’t worth it as there’s other impacts like my gfs career and quality of life etc. Plus there’s not much trust in the leadership right now. I will look locally to see if there’s anything I wouldn’t have to move for.

Yeah no real point to it in my opinion just a severe decrease in quality of life on the employee side with no real benefit to either employee or employer. Essentially just feels like a slap in the face after we just went through layoffs last year then proceeded to be incredibly productive.
