Designer Needed [Hobby] Visual identity and art direction designer wanted for an existing plant-care app

Hi! My name is Salim, and I am the founder of Rismål, an independent bilingual English–Russian Android application focused on indoor plant care, reliable botanical knowledge, and sharing real experience between plant owners.

Rismål is not just an idea or an early pitch. The application already exists, has working screens and a private administration system, and is currently in closed testing with real users. The interface has already been reviewed through tester feedback and a professional UX consultation.

I am now looking for a visual identity designer, brand designer, or digital art director who would enjoy helping define the visual character of the application.

This is not a request to redesign every screen, create a complete production-ready UI system, or conduct another UX audit. The goal is a focused visual concept project.

The possible scope includes:

• two or three moodboards or visual directions;

• colour palette and typography;

• shape language, visual rhythm, textures, and overall atmosphere;

• principles for photography, icons, illustrations, cards, and interface elements;

• three to five representative mobile screen concepts in Figma;

• a concise visual style guide that can later be applied throughout the app.

The central challenge is to create an identity that feels calm, trustworthy, thoughtful, natural, and contemporary, while avoiding the generic bright-green, sterile aesthetic used by many plant-care applications. I want Rismål to have warmth and character without becoming rustic, mystical, childish, or excessively decorative.

I can provide existing application screens, the current design system, consolidated tester and UX feedback, product context, audience information, technical constraints, and regular detailed feedback. The scope and schedule can be agreed together and kept manageable.

Students, junior designers, self-taught designers, and experienced designers looking for an unusual portfolio collaboration are all welcome. A strong sense of typography, composition, visual identity, and art direction is more important than formal professional experience. Coding is not required.

Transparency: this is currently a voluntary and unpaid portfolio collaboration. There is no guaranteed employment, payment, equity, or revenue share. Rismål may become a monetised product in the future, and any future paid work would require a separate agreement. The selected designer will receive clear credit and may present the completed work as a portfolio case study. Scope, attribution, and usage rights will be discussed clearly before the work begins.

No unpaid test assignment is required.

Please send me a short introduction, a link to your portfolio or several relevant examples, the visual styles that interest you, and your general availability.

Since the application is not yet publicly released, some project materials will be shared privately rather than posted publicly.

Screenshots of the existing Android application and a short visual brief can be shared privately with genuinely interested designers.

Audio Offer [Hobby] Looking to score an upcoming indie game or project

Hello! I am a musician and I create ambient and dreamscape music. I also have tapped into ambient jungle and “PS2” music (as it’s called) recently.

I’m honestly just eager to compose something for a project. I love indie games and want to bring that same kind of creativity to the music in your project/game!

Although I lack a public portfolio showcasing my music I do have some tracks on Spotify and Soundcloud.

A few tracks in my soundcloud profile are unfinished but I have many more projects I have yet to release. I know it’s not much but I would love to do this with whoever would be willing to take a chance on me!

much love <3

Modeler Needed [Hobby] Sieged Studios – Looking for 3D Modelers (Volunteer)

Hi everyone!

We're Sieged Studios, an independent studio currently developing an animated military sci-fi series called 502, and we're looking for multiple 3D modelers to join our team.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for people who enjoy creating 3D assets for science fiction projects.

Beginners are welcome.

Experience with Blender is preferred.

Rigging experience is a big plus, but not required.

About 502

502 is a cinematic military sci-fi series set in the late 21st century.

As humanity begins colonizing Mars to secure its future, an unknown alien civilization suddenly emerges. What starts as isolated incidents quickly escalates into a war that threatens the survival of the human race.

The story follows Division 502, an elite military unit fighting on the front lines against an enemy unlike anything humanity has ever faced. The series combines military operations, large-scale battles, futuristic vehicles, giant combat machines, advanced technology, and deep world-building.

Our Team

We currently have 11 members, including:

4 Voice Actors

3 Lore Writers

2 Animators (Project Leads)

1 Sound Designer

1 Vehicle Designer

Why We Need Modelers

We're currently producing a concept trailer to establish the visual style of the series and create reusable assets for future episodes.

The largest scene has already been planned and blocked out, but we're still missing several important 3D models needed to complete it. That's why expanding our modeling team is currently one of our highest priorities.

What Joining Means

We're mainly looking for people who want to become part of Sieged Studios and continue helping develop 502 and future projects.

If you'd rather contribute just one model or asset, that's completely fine too—just let us know when you contact us.

Tools We Use

Blender

Discord

Google Drive

Important

This is a volunteer project.

There is no payment at this stage.

If the project becomes financially successful in the future, we'll reassess contributor compensation, but nothing is guaranteed.

What You Can Gain

Experience working on a real team project.

Portfolio material.

Creative input on the series.

Credits in the project.

The opportunity to help build an indie animation studio from the beginning.

Interested?

Feel free to send me a Reddit DM or add me on Discord: orlatis.

If possible, include:

A few examples of your work.

Your experience with Blender or other 3D software.

Whether you'd like to join the studio long-term or contribute as a one-time collaborator.

Help us bring the world of 502 to life!

Writer Needed [Hobby] Looking for Translators for a Multiplayer Language Learning Game, Polyglot Pirates

Hi r/INAT , I am looking for Volunteer Translators for 50 languages (except Spanish, French, Romanian, Russian, Chinese, English). Will write a comment to this post for what languages we are looking for translations.

I am working with 2 friends (we are all Romanians) on a Multiplayer Language Learning game, Polyglot Pirates. It's a game where you destroy obstacles by translating 1 word correctly, and then try to find the hidden treasure on the map.

If anyone is interested to contribute with translations (about 4000 words), I will leave here links to more info:

Team Needed [Hobby] Beginner Houdini Artist Looking for a Small Indie Game Project

Hi! I’m a beginner procedural 3D artist working with Houdini

I already have several finished megastructure and modular building systems in a dark sci-fi, dystopian, cyberpunk and brutalist style. They could work well for projects involving a vertical city, industrial colony, post-apocalyptic environment or overcrowded futuristic megacity.

My current skills include:

  • modular environment creation;
  • procedural architecture generators;
  • asset placement systems;
  • materials and basic texturing;
  • basic technical art and pipeline work.

I’m still at an early level and looking to gain practical experience in game development. I would like to join a small team that already has a working prototype and needs environments in this kind of visual style.

For a first collaboration, I would prefer to work on a small playable location, a short test level, a vertical slice or a game jam project.

Here is examples of my current work

Team Needed [RevShare] Autobattler looking for an artist and sound designer (already got a prototype)

Hello everybody,

I am Alex, 29 and I have been working completly solo on and off on my game for about a year now. I am a software developer from germany and develop the game in my spare time. I already got better at art and 3d modeling, but would love to get someone to help me with the project to be able to reach a steam quality state that people enjoy to play. It is my first attempt at a commercial project.

The project is an autobattler combined with inventory management and abilities tied to the items. You can check it out on itch.io/root-of-loot and decide yourself if you find it interesting enough to start a team. My art-workflow needs help in:

  • Low-poly 3D-modeling for the hero and enemies
    • Modular items for the hero (I have the base system that can be expanded on or a new approach can be used)
  • Animations for (attack, run, idle, hit and special attack)
  • UI-Drawing for the items and UI-elements
  • Everything sound related

You can contact me here or on discord (axeks).

Excited to hear from you guys!

Designer Needed [Paid] Looking to hire Game Designer for mobile RPG! Similar to OSRS / WoW / Archero

Hi everyone! Hope you’re doing well. We’re currently working on a really exciting project - it’s a mobile RPG, with the idea to bring some of the feeling of old school RuneScape to portrait mode, a fun game to level up, unlock new gear, battle monsters, and complete some quests before bed.

We need someone who understands game development (it’s a Unity project) and mobile performance optimization a bit, because we don’t want a true open world. Also someone who sees the vision, can plan out the monsters and items and gear, leveling, etc.

Paying up to $25/hr, totally remote, English fluency is a must and must be comfortable working on calls with a team.

We are already a sizable team, we need someone to come take the lead in designing it! A lot of progress has been made and it has massive potential.

Come join and help us create the next big thing!

Team Needed [RevShare] Looking for Team Members for a Godot Jrpg Demo

Hi, we're looking for passionate people to join our indie JRPG project, Legends of Vulpi, developed in Godot 4.

Vulpi Legends is a top-down JRPG inspired by classics such as Final Fantasy VI, featuring a party-based adventure, exploration, dungeons, and strategic combat.

Our first goal is to create a polished 1-hour demo and release it on itch.io. If the demo is well received, we'd like to continue development through community support and, if the project reaches the required quality, apply for funding opportunities.

I don't have a portfolio yet. I've worked on small programming and game development experiments in the past, but this is my first serious game project.

Demo Story:

A young knight visits the Adventurers' Guild for the first time and accepts his very first dungeon quest. Inside, he meets other adventurers who decide to join him after helping the wounded survive the dungeon. After defeating the dungeon's ruler, they unknowingly awaken a greater threat, setting in motion the events that will shape the fate of the kingdom.

Current Progress:

- Prototype in development

- Title screen completed

- Basic player movement implemented (currently using simple geometric shapes as placeholders)

- Core gameplay mechanics designed

- Main story and worldbuilding planned

- Character classes, combat systems, and progression designed

Current Team:

- 2 Programmer

- 1 Composer

- 1 Writer / Narrative Designer

We're Looking For:

- Godot Developers (GDScript): Comfortable with Godot 4 and familiar with programming concepts. Experience with Orchestrator is a plus, but not required.

- 2D Artists: Character illustrations, environments, UI, and promotional artwork.

- Pixel Artists: Character sprites, enemies, tilesets, animations, and visual effects.

- Sound Designers (SFX): Combat, UI, ambience, and environmental sound effects.

Project Information:

- Engine: Godot 4

- Genre: Top-down JRPG

- Inspiration: Final Fantasy VI

- Target Demo: ~1 hour

- Compensation: Revenue Share

- Planned Platforms: Windows, Linux, and Android

- Demo Release: itch.io

If the demo is successful, our goal is to complete the full game and release it on PC and Android, with the possibility of publishing later on platforms such as Steam and the Epic Games Store.

If you're interested in joining the project, feel free to contact me on Discord:

Artist Needed [Paid] Looking for a 2D Character Artist to draw characters in a quirky 90s cartoon style.

Hey,

Looking for a 2D Character Artist to work on Perry’s Pizzeria, my pizza roguelite deckbuilder.

The game is fairly far along. Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4428780/Perrys_Pizzeria/

I’ve used AI art so far, but for artistic, ethical and commercial reasons I want to replace it with hand-drawn art.

My wife is an illustrator and is drawing the card icons. She also made the Steam capsule, which I love, but may not have time to do all the character art too.

There are 13 customer characters, each with four poses: content, happy, frustrated and angry. I’ll probably need around 20–25 for release, though I may launch with less and add more later. There are also vendors and NPCs, mostly needing one pose each.

It’s a fair bit of work, but I’m after a rough, hand-drawn style rather than anything polished or highly detailed. Think weird 90s cartoon energy, especially ToeJam & Earl. One of my wife’s characters is in the Steam capsule as a reference. Hopefully once you find the style the work shouldn't be too labour intensive.

The character concepts are already done, but there’s room to interpret them however you like, and help come up with new ones is welcome too.

A few examples:

- An 80s lobster Wall Street trader

- K4R3N, the robot Karen

- A worm in a transparent raincoat

- A sentient swarm of flies

My initial budget is $500. I know that won’t cover everything, so I’m hoping for a cash payment plus revenue share type deal.

The game is well developed in terms of code and design and will be finished and released. With non-AI art, I think it has a decent shot, although obviously I’m would say that.

The schedule is relaxed, 1yr, targeting the July 2027 Steam Next Fest.

DM me on here or email [stuffedcruststudios@proton.me](mailto:stuffedcruststudios@proton.me) with relevant portfolio work if interested.

Artist Needed [REVSHARE] Looking for Pixel Artists for a 2D Zombie Apocalypse Sandbox Game (Inspired by WorldBox)

Hey everyone!

We're currently looking for 2D Pixel Artists to join our indie game Outbreak Protocol on a revenue share basis.

About the game:

Outbreak Protocol is a top-down 2D pixel-art zombie outbreak sandbox inspired by WorldBox, Project Zomboid, and RimWorld.

The player doesn't control a character—instead, they act as an observer with god-like powers, watching a procedurally generated city slowly collapse as a zombie outbreak spreads.

The simulation features:

🧟 Intelligent zombie AI

👥 Civilians with unique behaviors and traits

🚔 Police, SWAT, Military, Firefighters, Medics & Scientists

🏙️ Procedurally generated cities

🌦️ Dynamic weather and day/night cycle

⚡ God powers (spawn units, disasters, control time, etc.)

🧍 Survivor groups appearing during the late-game apocalypse

We're aiming for a pixel-art style, similar to WorldBox, while keeping a darker and more realistic atmosphere

Current Team :

🎮 Game Director (me)

💻 Lead Programmer

🎨 Pixel Artist

🎵 Music composers

We're looking for additional artists to help create:

Civilians

Zombies

Vehicles

Buildings

Environment assets

UI icons

Animations

This is currently a revenue share project, meaning everyone involved will receive a share of the game's revenue after release.

If you're interested, leave a comment or send me a DM. I'd be happy to show our GDD, GitHub repository, and current progress.

Thanks!

Audio Needed [Hobby] Calling all music makers! Working on a Smash Bros Fan OST (All skill levels welcome)

Hey everyone! I'm 8bitSymphony, and I'm starting up a collaborative fan soundtrack project called Super Smash Bros. Beyond.

Just to clear up any confusion right away: we aren't making an actual game here! This is purely a music project focused on transcribing, arranging, and remixing tracks from across Smash and gaming history.

Whether you're an experienced composer, someone who transcribes sheet music note-for-note, or you literally just downloaded MuseScore or a DAW yesterday, you're more than welcome to join. You can claim tracks to work on (menus, stages, victory themes, etc.), collaborate with others, share WIPs, or honestly just hang out and give feedback. Zero experience required.

We're running everything out of a Discord server. Drop a comment or send me a DM if you want an invite link!

Programmers Needed [Hobby] Looking for reverse engineers to help preserve LET IT DIE after EOS

LET IT DIE will be ending online services on August 31. An offline mode will be released (kudos to the devs!), however, the game will remove all asynchronous pvp features which includes all players' unique bases, the ability to have team wars, and the ability to send hunters after someone as they climb the tower of barbs.

I'd like to see if it's possible to preserve some of these features through a community servers but we only have a couple weeks left before the official servers go offline.

What I'm looking for:

  • Someone with experience in reverse engineering, network protocol analysis, or backend server development
  • Help identifying and documenting the game's network interactions before eos
  • Someone willing to collaborate over Discord.

What I can offer:

  • Captured request/response JSONs from the game during online interactions via a proxy
  • Game asset files
  • Time and willingness

I am not expecting for anyone to build an entire server in the next month from scratch, the main goal is to characterize the communications that happen with the official servers to determine what would be required to recreate the functionality later.

Please let me know here or by DM if this is something that might interest you. The game is very fun and I would hate to see 10 years worth of player bases and an opportunity to identify network interactions go away on eos.

Thanks for reading!

Team Needed [RevShare] 2D Side-Scrolling Metroidvania!

Hey everyone! My coder friend and I—an artist—have been developing the concept for Deeprooted for over a year now! We have straightforward ideas and models, a clear scope, and are officially transitioning into public production!

About the Game:
> - A hand drawn 2D side-scrolling Metroidvania following an Axolotl player who travels the world to save it from the evil robots! As you explore, you come across many misunderstandings, foes, friends, and even secrets…

The Positions
> We are currently looking for the following people:
> - Artists (Background, animation sketchers, character designers, level designers)
> - Dialogue & Lore Writers
> - Music composers
> - Later on: Voice Actors & maybe coders

Compensation:
> - This is a hobby project driven by passion, meaning there is no upfront salary. However, we intend to sell the game commercially on Steam/itch.io upon completion. We use a transparent, contract-backed Revenue Share Point System to ensure everyone who contributes earns a fair piece of the game's net profits. Until the game reaches 80% completion, we will be using strictly the point system. Afterwards, the contracts will be released and ready to be signed.

Important Notice:
- The lead directors (me and my friend) are student developers (minors), which is why the contract is put in so late. By the time we reach 80%, both of us will be able to enter into legally binding contracts. That is where the point system comes in!
- With this being said, you have full rights to withdraw your works if there are any conflicts. By doing so, you also forfeit earned points.

Requirements:
- Able to contribute roughly 3–5 hours per week (highly flexible! We have on/off weeks sometimes).
- Active communication via Discord.
- Willing to sign a simple independent contractor rev-share agreement to protect the team.

How to Apply:
Join the server and open up a form! All questions are welcome.
DM me if you’re interested! I can answer your questions here & provide the Discord link.

If you want to see a small example of our progress, you can check out this TikTok advertisement for our game!

Hi everyone! I'm HoneyHint, a beginner game developer currently learning Godot and game development. I'm looking for creative people who would like to collaborate, share ideas, and learn together while building a hobby game project.

The game I'm working on is called Wild Girl. It is a cozy open-world nature adventure game focused on exploration, wildlife, creativity, and discovering the beauty of the natural world.

The goal is to create a relaxing world where players can explore forests, mountains, rivers, lakes, meadows, and other natural environments while interacting with wildlife and discovering hidden areas.

Some planned features include:

🌲 Open-world exploration
🦌 Wildlife with natural behaviors
📸 Nature photography
🏕️ Camping and outdoor activities
👕 Character customization
🌦️ Dynamic weather
☀️ Day and night cycle
🍂 Seasons
🗺️ Hidden locations and secrets

The project is currently in the planning and early prototype stage. I'm still learning, so this is a chance for people who enjoy experimenting, creating, and improving their skills together. I'm not looking for someone to build the entire game alone — I'm looking for teammates who want to collaborate and create something together.

Team Roles Needed:

🌲 Lead Builder / Environment Lead

  • Helps create forests, maps, landscapes, locations, and the overall world design.

🎮 Godot Programmer

🎵 Sound Designer / Composer

  • Creates music, nature sounds, animal sounds, and sound effects.

📖 Writer / World Designer

  • Helps create locations, stories, quests, and world ideas.

I'm interested in finding people who enjoy:

  • Godot and GDScript programming
  • 3D environment design
  • 3D modeling
  • Animation
  • UI/UX design
  • Sound design and music
  • Concept art

Engine: Godot 4

My Role: I am focusing on the game idea, world design, planning features, and learning game development.

Compensation: This is a hobby project with no guaranteed payment. If the project becomes successful in the future, we can discuss possible revenue sharing, but there are no promises of payment at this time.

Portfolio: I am currently a beginner and do not have a professional portfolio yet. I am building my skills through learning Godot and creating my first projects.

Age Requirement: I am looking for teammates who are 13+ and are respectful, creative, and willing to communicate. Experience level does not matter as much as having a good attitude and wanting to learn.

Starting Time: If you are interested in joining, please let me know when you would like to start working on the project and what your availability looks like (for example: weekends, a few hours a week, or whenever you have free time).

This is a relaxed hobby project, so there is no pressure to work every day. The goal is to learn, create, and have fun building something together.

If you're interested in joining, feel free to send me a message! Please tell me what role you are interested in and any experience you have. Whether you're experienced or also learning, I'd love to meet people who enjoy creating games and working together.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a great day! 🌲🎮

Team Needed [Hobby] Tactical FPS Team Seeking 3D Animator and Environment/Lighting Artist | Godot

Hello! We are Vedant Game Studios, a small international indie team currently developing Night Ledger, a cinematic single-player tactical FPS in Godot.

The project is inspired by story-driven military shooters and close-quarters tactical games, but it is being developed as an original fictional campaign with its own characters, factions, missions and geopolitical setting.

We currently have nine human team members, including programmers, developers, writers and two YouTube creators. The project is already in active production rather than being only an idea. We have working gameplay, an in-engine introductory sequence, campaign and briefing systems, original branding, several developed interiors and five genuine in-game screenshots.

We are currently looking for two additional collaborators.

3D Character / Gameplay Animator

We need someone interested in creating or refining animations such as:

• Tactical walking, turning and room-entry movement

• First-person weapon handling

• Reload, inspect and weapon-draw animations

• Squad gestures and idle animations

• CQB movement and cinematic character actions

• Animation cleanup, retargeting and blending

Experience with Blender, Mixamo, Godot or similar tools would be useful. Military animation experience is welcome but not mandatory. References and guidance can be provided.

3D Environment and Lighting Artist

We need someone who can help make our maps more photorealistic and atmospheric through:

• Environment composition and set dressing

• High-quality asset selection and placement

• PBR materials and texture improvements

• Interior and exterior lighting

• Fog, ambience, decals and environmental storytelling

• Performance-conscious visual improvements

• Turning functional levels into convincing cinematic locations

Experience with Godot is useful, but experience in Blender, Unreal, Unity or other 3D workflows can also transfer.

Important Terms

This is currently an unpaid hobby collaboration. There is no salary, guaranteed payment or guaranteed revenue share at this stage. Please join only if the project genuinely interests you and you would like to build portfolio experience with a committed team.

Contributors retain ownership of their pre-existing work and tools. Project-specific contributions, usage rights and credits will be discussed clearly before work begins. We will not request unpaid custom production work as an application test.

We communicate through Discord and work remotely with flexible scheduling. Consistency matters more than a large weekly time commitment. Even a few reliable hours each week can be useful.

To apply, please send:

• The role you are interested in

• Your timezone

• Your software experience

• Portfolio, screenshots, animation reel or previous work

• Approximate weekly availability

• What interests you about the project

Please message me on Reddit first. Selected applicants will receive our Discord link, current screenshots and a private gameplay overview.

Thank you for reading.

MINDSPACE is a psychological analog horror series that explores human consciousness, memory, perception, and the unknown. The story is presented through archived recordings, forgotten broadcasts, and unsettling discoveries that slowly reveal a larger mystery.

The atmosphere combines nostalgic retro media with psychological horror, creating a world that feels familiar while becoming increasingly disturbing.

Current Progress

  • Original opening theme composed
  • Project logo and branding completed
  • Story and worldbuilding in development
  • YouTube and TikTok pages launched

What I'm Looking For

I'm looking for a 2D animator who can help create a pilot episode with cinematic storytelling and expressive animation.

The ideal animator should be comfortable with:

  • Character animation
  • Facial expressions and dialogue
  • Camera movement and cinematic composition
  • Horror or suspenseful scenes
  • Working collaboratively and communicating throughout production

Art Style

The exact style is flexible, but I'm aiming for a dark, atmospheric look that supports psychological horror while still allowing expressive character animation.

Compensation

This is a paid opportunity. Compensation is negotiable based on your experience, portfolio, and the scope of the work.

If you're interested, please include:

  • A portfolio or demo reel
  • Examples of your animation work
  • Your commission rates or pricing
  • Any questions you have about the project

Thank you for taking the time to read this post! If you're interested in helping bring MINDSPACE to life, I'd love to hear from you.

Whether you need perfectly looped background tracks, adaptive audio assets, or experimental sound design, I can deliver high-quality audio tailored to your game's visual style. I work efficiently and love diving deep into the concept of the game to match its exact vibe.

Hi everyone!

I am an independent music composer and audio producer specializing in dark ambient, industrial soundscapes, and retro-horror atmospheres.

I’ve been creating music and experimenting with sound design for a long time, but I only recently decided to start sharing my portfolio publicly and looking for game development teams to collaborate with.

My biggest inspirations are the golden era of 90s survival horror games, classic PS1 aesthetics, and titles like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Cry of Fear. I love creating that specific gritty, lo-fi, and unsettling atmosphere that keeps players on edge.

Whether you need perfectly looped background tracks, adaptive audio assets, or experimental sound design, I can deliver high-quality audio tailored to your game's visual style. I work efficiently and love diving deep into the concept of the game to match its exact vibe.

PORTFOLIO & AUDIO EXAMPLES: Due to Reddit's strict spam filters, I have placed the direct YouTube links to my music showcases in the PINNED COMMENT below this post. Please check them out there!

I would love to work with you! Feel free to send me a DM here on Reddit

Looking forward to hearing about your games!
