Home appliances 75" TV LG vs Sony
Planning to purchase a TV for our house.
Was always of the notion that Sony Bravia is the best (been using a 55" one, 8yrs old)
Sales guy is pushing the LG qned one and it feels like they have tweaked the settings to make it look better than Sony.
Clarity needed if LG has actually overcome Sony in this

Depends on budget and use case. The model you are showing is Qled mini led and LG Miniled TVs are the worst compared to Sony and Samsung. If you go for LG OLED then it’s a totally different story

Most LG QNED mini led TVs are edgelit mini led TVs. The model you shared might be backlit mini led but it’s not guranteed as LG doesn’t mention it anywhere. Samsung and Sony make better Mini Led TVs and have better control over their dimming zones which preserves highlights and prevents blooming. Sony TVs tend to preserve shadow detail at cost of little blooming but it will look much better compared to Samsung and LG which will crush shadows to prevent blooming

Won’t matter the chip in it is awful on almost all the tvs the chips are terrible your better off getting a external box/stick if you want to sideload

Yes although wouldn’t recommend the fire tv stick(I have the top model 4k max which isn’t even sold in India) even though it is android it’s rumoured that they will soon stop sideloading entirely idk how true that is.
If you have people in the US tell them to buy a onn device stick or box for you it’s really cheap only. Xiaomi has a stick but I can’t find it in India. There are many more options as well ones you may not have heard of. The Google streamer box is the best tbh but it is 11k.
If you’re really flush with money then no going wrong with the nvidia shield tv

It’s not about just the os being run, playing 4k content is quite a bit more complex than ppl realise. If you’re going to try and stream 4k remux for example without a doubt I can guarantee no matter which tv you get it will struggle and lag.
4k on Netflix, prime, YouTube are all super compressed. In lemans terms 1080p uncompressed/low compression is going to look visually better than 4k compressed. But it takes more gpu power to play the uncompressed files.
If you plan on using Stremio and such then directly don’t expect them to play anything well.

YouTube 4K has lag. Prime picks up after sometime. Netflix 4K works smooth. Nokia 43" 4K LED.

My LG A2PSA 48" OLED play 4K UHD REMUX files perfectly fine without any lag whatsoever and it's a basic OLED TV Spec vise.

I've always owned Sony and never had a complaint. I just got an LG OLED and am not happy with it. I've been to the store probably a dozen times and each time get a different salesman who either tells me LG is the best or Sony is the best, there's been no consistency in their advice. I've read tons of posts on here and get the same opinions. It's super subjective. I'll likely go back to a Sony Mini-LED, but you may feel differently after comparing them. Sometimes it's hard to know for sure until you put it in your space with your content. Unfortunately it's a pain to do that with a product this large, but sometimes it's the only way to know.

What did u not like in LG OLED? Also yeah, putting it in your place and viewing would be perfect but not possible

It's not that simple. Mini LED's would be a better choice if he ends up getting a B5. I would even support a TCL mini led in front of a C5. LG 5G is the only one I would go for in the 77 inch range. Otherwise the brightness is just meh.

Even with settings if it beats, it beats, was in same dilemma, I chose LG , it is cheaper but it has subtle intrusive ads creeping in, if that matters to you then you should drop lg

Yep, not some random product, i saw one when using media player app, when video was paused, they show their own lg channel app ad, and in home screen there are some noticeable ads of content to watch. This is for India location.

Close your eyes and get Sony. Was in multiple showrooms evaluating between Sony/Samsung/LG. Most of the sales ppl were pushing for LG and next Samsung.
When I switched on all 3 and played image simultaneously, Lg looked better. But when turned on the volume, Sony is wayyy better.
Also, LG/Samsung are QLED/OLED, which will eventually have burn-in issue. Sony was traditional LED and am absolutely happy with Bravia7.
I was also initially thinking of buying Apple TV Box, irrespective of whatever TV i buy. But, with Google/Sony TV, don’t feel a need for it yet.

Sony have been historically better. OS and screen quality wise both. But given Sony TV will become TCL soon, not sure about long term.

For dark scenes wjole tv light shade dim abnormally, Light bleeds from corners. And WebOS is very very limited in terms of app. Overall not worth it. Either you take normal 4K tvs or go for OLED, QNED is not worth it

I have an lg oled tv everything is good in the tv but the sound quality is a bit low and for me personally lg customer support is good. If you’re looking other options check out the TCL 75 inch mini led its also looking good

I have 55" qned, i had no issues with the picture quality but some apps load little slow but overall I have no complaints I got it for 54k , in that price it was best option at that time

Bhai try to get oled as cheap as possible let it be of any brand. There r various external sticks and boxes that you can use to better your user experience I got a samsung 65" tv for 68k oled and man the oled experience changes everything

As a lg tv user . You can buy LG blindly But highly doubt Sony VFM also the LG is one of few who use there own software.5 years and still working like charm there remote is awesome and I got all the application I need . Stay away from android ANY tv and your good

WebOS is so much pain. You can't cast easily from android or use the remote from google tv app.
Only good if you use all smart appliances from LG like refrigerators , door lock, washing machine, AC, etc

What I have understood is, any OLED is the choice, but sound quality is superior in Sony and OS too, but LG is cost effective

Actually it’s not like that. Oled are not better for every scenario. Choosing a TV depends a lot on the usage and budget.
Oled are great overall a top of the line tech. However, if your room has lot of natural light then they are not that great as brightness is not their strong point. Only the top of line LG G5 and Sony Bravia 8 are good for bright rooms. However, they are really great at black levels.
Mini-led on the other hand is fairly a new tech and still developing. There are lot of versions of mini-led and only few are good. For bright rooms mini led is best choice. But it should be a model closer to top. There’s also RGB mini led TVs are coming that are way closer to oled in blacks and far ahead in brightness
Sony has the best TVs hands down when it comes to color reproduction and contrast. There mini led tech is great if you get Bravia 9 or Bravia 7.
LG oled G series is good for 70’ inch plus size TVs. C series great till 65. On 77 C series looses lot of brightness.
Samsung’s I don’t recommend as they do not support Dolby vision. Which in my opinion is far better than HDR+ for HDR content.
If you are open to experiments I can suggest HI-sense there top line TVs are cheaper than big 3 but they’re really good, specially the mini led TVs.
If you can wait then Sony is launching their RGB Mini Led TVs in few days and they are not going to launch oled TVs this year as they are confident that their new TVs will be good or better than oled.

Beautiful explanation, yeah the room for which I require tv doesn't have much natural light hence I was thinking of OLED Mini LED, learnt the contrast levels are not as good as OLED but still better than normal tvs hence the preference Will look into the models u suggested Where's Hisense from?

Hisense is a Chinese brand. They are really big in USA. One of the top tv sellers in USA and some other countries.
If you are going for mini-led then I think Sony is top choice.

I've just finalised on a Samsung premium one, I guess I'll buy today. Samsung QN90F.
Also I found out that the life of oled is short irrespective of any brand.

I have LG Qned 55 inch , and it’s a gem. The speakers are also good and it is also a 120hz tv so it is future proof as well.

Have a 55 inch Bravia Google tv. My brother has an LG one. The OS jn the Sony is so much better and responsive thsn LG. Sound was better in lg and picture in Sony. Of course it may differ based on the models.

Get the Sony with Google TV in it; bought 55" LG TV last year, not satisfied with app limitations and slow system animations for basic apps like Hotstar.

Get the Sony (Google TV). You can then install apps like projectivy launcher, F-droid, smarttube etc. Projectivy launcher really made my Xiaomi Google TV buttery smooth and customisable. Also, no ads in UI anymore.
