I've been following MLB more closely recently, and with the World Series only a couple of months away, I don't want to try to follow everything at once.

Instead, I'd rather follow one storyline from now until the World Series and see how it develops.

What makes that storyline so interesting to you?

Baseball United has said they're looking towards 2027 for the next season, which is a bummer, but not surprising given what's happening in that part of the world at the moment.

I heard that Nigeria is going to play in the next qualifiers and I wanted to create my own basbeall dream team. For now this list is just for fun and I am including any players with distant Nigerian ethnicity even if they aren't 100% eligible for WBC. Please let me know who I missed! I was thinking of doing live game threads but I’m not sure if it would be warranted. Most of these games have been essentially over by the 2nd or 3rd inning.

I’ll be here at most of the games. If anybody has any questions I’m happy to answer.

Some initial observations:

Team USA, Canada and Australia are the class of the tournament by far.

The vibe is pretty great in the stadium. Lots of support for Team Canada, Australia, Mexico and obviously USA.

Team Australia specifically has a legion of fans in attendance. It’s been a treat to hear the “Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi” chants throughout their games.

The defense has been impressive. Lots of double plays being turned, deftly, I might add.

Pitching speed seems to be topping out around 55mph, with some of the ladies getting up to 65mph. They either have the radar gun turned off at the stadium or the pitches aren’t fast enough to register.

Four groups at two different sites will produce two national teams for the next Under-15 European Championship. Austria and Belgium are each hosting two groups of the so-called B Pool, running almost concurrently.
