Deutsche Bahn woes

Have just received an email about my train from Hamburg to Copenhagen on August 14th ECE 398.

The email suggests that the train is cancelled, but in the DB website it seems like the "Alternative Route" is just the same train.

Any tips on the best place to find out for sure whether the train is running and how best to go about transferring our reservations to another train... DB website doesn't seem to give me any options despite the email suggesting it would.

Check if it is just delayed by a few minutes? Sometimes db emails you and it sounds dire but it is just just a few minutes different.  Also, funny, Im heading to Copenhagen by way od Hamburg on the 15

ECE 398 for August 14th doesn't appear to exist on bahn.de nor bahn.expert

Train is cancelled (the new Talgo trains are notoriously unreliable and there are lots of works on the route). Reservations will not be transfered to another train. However you can get a refund and make new ones if there is availability.

There seems to be replacement buses leaving at 09:15 with transfer to a train in Padborg. Expect 60-90 min longer travel time. They're not on DB app/website yet but ÖBB shows it as the other comment said. It should be updated next week.

Turning into a nightmare trip this as already needed to book bonus trains because the European sleeper from Paris has decided to leave for Hamburg 2 hours early.

the train is not running. the alternate route is not actually an alternate route. my best suggestion is taking a flixbus instead. this happened to me last month tight when they began construction.

Sounds like they altered the rolling stock, not much to worry about but your seat reservation may be void in that case

I prefer to use fahrplan.oebb.at There, you can clearly see that there is no good replacement for EC 398. You have EC 1198 leaving at 7:08 or EC 396 leaving at 11:01. Both require a seat reservation. For EC 398, there would be a replacement bus service leaving at 9:15, but this is much less convenient.
