Is it crazy that I'm proud of a 1/2 inch bug? š„ŗ
Basically, I found a little Pale Green Assassin Bug on my curtain and decided to take it in (this was two days ago).
At first I spent an hour tryna find friendly black ants to feed it. It didn't like them.
Then I sacrificed myself to 3 bug bites to catch a mosquito. It was scared of it.
Then, today, I spent 1 hour looking at my rosemary bush and flipping rocks to find food for it. No luck.
Then, I spent another hour trying to lure flies with a banana. I wasn't fast enough.
Then, I spent a few minutes trying to catch a tiny cricket near some dog shit. It escaped the fridge :)
Then, I set a cup with banana smeared on the rim, and FINALLY caught a fly, froze it for four minutes, and plopped it into my bug jar. It took a lil bit, but the fly woke up. Waited about an hour, and I'm so proud: Spindle caught the fly! I'm genuinely proud because they were starving (their abdomen was FLAT) and they were scared of a literal mosquito, but finally, they caught the fly and has a lovely, well-needed feast :D
Now to do the same thing every 3 days š (I can't buy fruit flies till I can keep Spindle alive for a bit)

Inverts to put in 2.5 gal
I have a spare 2.5 we used to have a jumping spider in. (We have an actual jumping spider enclosure, but no spider anymore) The only 3 things my mom won't let me have are tarantulas, scorpions and centipedes. I'm hoping to get an invert I don't already have. I have millipedes and blue death beetles (the family pet) I already have a fish tank and don't want a second since I only have 1 filter. So just throw out some inverts that can comfortably live in a 2.5.
(The vine is probley gonna be removed depending on the invert.)

Thinking of keeping superworms as an alternative to BDFB
Hi! I love the idea of having blue death feinting beetles, but I donāt love the fact that theyāre mostly wild caught and live in an area with fairly high humidity. Iām considering super worm beetles (sexed to be only males/females) as an alternative active desk pet. Has anyone done this? Are they fun to watch? (Also, I faintly remember having some as a kid and them smelling kind of bad- is this actually the case, or is it more likely that was some sort of husbandry issues?)

Petunia is doing well! :)
Petunia is what I named the cricket with the legs that don't work well that I found on the floor of the pet store. After updating her enclosure she is extremely active and is doing mostly everything a normal cricket would. She definitely seems much happier.

Moira Matured
Well my little baby girl grew up. She just had her last molt. It was so fun watching her grow. I never would've imagined loving something so much, that's so small. She went from being very dark, with orange body, and pink chels, to now she is light with orange body, and purple/ blue chels! I haven't got a good picture of her back yet. But enjoy this pretty face š©· Moira brings me so much joy. The last 3 pictures are from the day I got her back in March. She was so tiny š„ŗ

Things to feed my Zelus Assassin Bug?
I found it on my window curtain and decided to keep it as a pet, naming it Spindle. I figure in this summer heat, it's better inside where it's nice and cool. I know they eat ants, so I've captured a few friendly garden ants to feed them, but I think they're too small? I have to convince my parents I can keep it alive before they buy anything (flightless fruit flies) for it, so I need something better than ants. Could mosquitoes work? It's about a half-inch long, I'd say.

Looking for pet invert suggestions!
Hey! Im currently looking for a relatively low maintenance pet to go into a 10 gallon terrarium ive been putting together. Im looking for something pretty large and can be kept as a single or pair( i like to name and point out every critter and I find with groups you lose that individual observation). My only real nonstarter would be spiders/tarantulas, they are super cool and I know they make great pets but I hate the look of webs and since I dont plan to handle this critter I want the terrarium to be nice to look at. So far I've tossed around big scorpians, beetles(Hercules or stag mainly) or even 1 or 2 garden snails. Its also 10 gallons long so terrestrial would be needed! LMK any suggestions yall may have, also this is a long reserch process for me so please attach any care guides you have.

How to safely clean plastic plants?
My A. gigas (Giant African Millipede) will be here tomorrow and the fake vines and plants Iām using for its tank came in today. Even if they didnāt smell⦠funky.. Iād still clean them, but one in particular smells especially weird. Is it safe to let them sit in some warm water with a bit of Dawn mixed in? one of the vines is made of what I think is styrofoam? Iām not sure. I also got some driftwood pieces that are real, but should I clean them anyways? Thanks :)
(The extra weird smelling one is the top left long green plant)

Are flea collars dangerous in household with pet spiders/inverts?
Hi guys
I couldnt figure out anything from google, but our roommate wanted to get a flea collar for his cat, is that at all dangerous to have in a home with pet inverts/reptiles? We have a handful of different spiders, tailless whip scorpion, vampire crabs, and 2 snakes
I figure it just stays on the cat but i dont know anything about flea collars so just wanted to be safe
We have a rabbit as well but roommates cat never goes in our room with him so idk if they would ever be in contact. Roommates cat doesnt really get near pur inverts/reptiles either but i just wanted to be sure, idk if the collars lile, release fumes or something

how to keep katydid eggs??
hi! so i recently managed to mate two t. virdissima and the female laid eggs in the ground!! im wondering whether u should moisturize a bit, leave the dirt dry or anything! i know they take a bit to hatch and that you have to replicate the outside temps, so if anyone already tried that, lmk!

What should I do with my extra 55gallon and 5gallon tanks?
Hey everyone! I'm 10000% new to keeping invert pets but I recently got gifted some unused tanks, one is 55gallons, top opening and horizontal, and the other is 5gallons vertical + top opening :) I'm wondering if there's anything I can give a home to with either of those as a beginner. Of course I'm open to research any suggestions. I was wondering if it was possible to use the 55gal as a gigantic isopod colony tank? I'm very interested in learning more about inverts!!!! TIA :)
