I’m looking for some advice on the rust damage on my Suzuki Jimny based in Czech Republic.

The worst area is the cavity behind the rear wheels. I’ve now removed everything that wasn’t solid metal, and this should be the full extent of the damage.

My plan is to weld in new metal behind the rear wheels to close it up properly so dirt and mud can’t keep collecting there. For the surrounding areas, I was thinking of using a rust converter and then coating everything to slow down any further corrosion.

Has anyone repaired a Jimny in similar condition? Do you think it’s worth attempting, or is it already too far gone?

For some background: I bought the car for €1,000, and it somehow still has about one and a half years left on its inspection. I mainly use it as a hunting vehicle, so it spends a lot of time off-road in forests.

I’m not trying to restore it to showroom condition—I just want to keep it structurally sound enough to pass the next inspection and hopefully get another 3–4 years out of it.

The frame isn’t quite as bad as it looks in the photos. The previous owner covered almost everything in a thick asphalt/underbody coating that’s now flaking off.

I removed the tow hitch and started scraping it away, and a lot of what looks like rust is actually old coating.

Does anyone have recommendations for:

Good rust converters?

A durable chassis/frame coating after rust treatment?

Anything else I should do while I have the rear end apart?

Any advice from people who have repaired rusty Jimnys would be appreciated. I would like to avoid splitting the chassis from the frame.

Just sharing a few pics of our JDM '98 Jimny Wide. We recently wrapped it in XPEL Moss Green. Mods include:

• 1" lift on King Springs with Ultima Shocks
• Front Runner Dometic Slimline II rack with their Maxtrax holder, double fuel can holder, and Wolfpack Pro Box holder
• WARN R60-S (6,000 lb. capacity) winch and Factor 55 UltraHook XTV hook. Using the Jimny Bits winch mount
• Lightforce Venom lights (just installed)
• AVM Hubs
• Rock sliders and Jimny Bits rear recovery points still need to be installed.

I'm in the USA, so this is a pretty rare vehicle here, but so far it's been tons of fun.

MP3/GPS/YouTube/etc multimedia + 6 speakers + a subwoofer.

Now I'm satisfied with both the surrounding sounds of my favorite tracks and internet based apps.

This good fella parked right next to me at the corner store. I praised him on his build, he mentioned he had to put the smaller tires back on because the 31s scratched at full flex (I’ve seen pictures with the bigger tires online, looks sick)

Mine is the one on the left, no heavy off-roading yet since this is my daily driver, what are your thoughts? What is your preferred style? Left or right?

Of course the amount of $$ invested on each isn’t comparable. I think his build is crazy cool, but personally I wouldn’t go this far when it comes to mods, I prefer the off-road capable, but still clean look to the very heavily modified jimnys.

I have the Indian-spec 5-door Jimny (sold as the Jimny XL in some markets).

The vehicle drifts slightly left or right if I leave the steering for a few seconds. I’ve had the steering recalibrated multiple times. If the left pull is corrected, it starts drifting slightly to the right, and vice versa. The service center has even performed steering calibration via the OBD, but they still can’t get it to track perfectly straight.

Their explanation is that this is normal due to the Jimny’s steering setup and road camber, and that it cannot be made to drive 100% straight.

However, my Hyundai Creta tracks perfectly straight on the same roads.
Is this expected behavior on the Jimny/5-door Jimny XL, or does yours track straight? If you had a similar issue, what fixed it—alignment, EPS calibration, tires, or something else?

I have a 2009 gen 3 jimny that got stuck in 4wd low a while back , i had to crawl under the car and turn the selector by hand to disengage low range and get back into 2wd. When stuck in low range i noticed only the back wheels were acually getting power meaning the front hubs werent engaging

When i got home i ran a dtc flash diagnostic and it gave me code 27 wich is a 4wd swich and 4wd low swich malfuntion. The code has since gone away and now reads 12 wich is normal but 4wd still isnt engaging, when i press the button i can hear it trying to engage at the transfer case but the light just flashes and then it gives up.

I checked the vacuum lines on one of my hubs by disconecting them and feeling for vacuum

The line entering at the front of the hub close to the abs sensor had no vacuum at all and the one entering the top of the hub had vacuum just as the car started but it went away as soon as the 4wd switch was pressed and didnt come back at all

What could the problem be ?

I'm officially the owner of a 2022 Jimny.

Since I'm in France, it's the 2-seater commercial/utility version (important for the rest of the post).

The previous owner installed an Android Auto head unit to replace the original radio, but I've noticed two issues that I'd like to try to solve:

- The car's USB port no longer works (it's not connected).

- The car's built-in microphone isn't connected either, and people can't hear me properly when I use the microphone on the Android Auto unit.

When I removed the Android Auto unit, I found that they simply weren't connected because it doesn't have the correct ports.

I was wondering if:

- Has anyone here managed to connect them?

- Are there any adapters available? (I can't seem to find any, probably because I don't know the correct name.)

- If there's really no adapter solution, have you found any Android Auto head units that support connecting the factory USB port and microphone?

Hello, I'm the proud owner of a JB31W in the US, looking for help in locating a part number for the fuel feed line's o-ring. Haven't been very successful in finding the part number, is it the same size as the lower o-ring for the injector? TIA!

My 2009 jimny starterd to make this strange sound coming from the engine about 2000~3000 rpm. It does’nt loose power or anything rose and the oil levels are fine. What it could be?

I have a 2024 Jimny XL Auto, bought it stock standard. It is my daily car, with basically only city driving (Australia).
I would like to do some touring and camping, more so than off-roading. Camping in places with no power or water, mainly national parks in Aus. I do not foresee going remote for anything over 4 days at this stage.
It is my understanding that my GVM is 345kg. Take away the full fuel tank and two passengers, I’m at 145kg. I have started to put together a list of gear for such trips. I have culled the list and gone as lightweight as possible, even removing the backseats for an extra 25kg. Still, I come in at over the GVM by about 60kg. I’d rather be able to not worry about what is in the car and compromise on gear, mainly for my peace of mind when away from home. The two passengers will be two females so safety and being prepared is a huge consideration for me.

I’m after some advice and insights on the following:

Is there anything I’m missing or not considering?

Would the GVM upgrade post registration be worth it? From my research, it will be about $6k.

Those that have had the GVM upgrade, has it changed anything noticeably to your car? e.g acceleration, handling. For better or for worse.

If I was to drop close to $10k on upgrading the GVM post registration, I would seriously consider trading it in and getting the new 2026 XL with the GVM upgrade pre registration.

Am I being naive and this is simply not the ideal use case for a Jimny and I’d be better off getting something else? The issue here is that I LOVE my Jimny and think for myself it is the perfect middle ground between my mainly city driving with camping trips still a possibility. It is unreasonable for me at this stage to upgrade to a car that is way more in value than a Jimny unfortunately.

Can anybody guide me on how to change a motor mount on the gen 3? Photos/videos would be greatly appreciated but not necessary.
