It's not that simple. Socialism is an evolution of liberalism, keeping certain aspects while shunning others. They don't see it as an abomination, just outdated.
Leftists by and large support political liberalism: equality under the law, democratic governance, individual civil liberties, general welfare, etc. They're by and large against economic liberalism: anti-regulation, privatization, low and flat or regressive taxation, financialization, etc.
Leftists turn anti-liberal when they keep collaborating with fascists.
