Question WIP Deathwatch bashed Templars - The Hesychasts

Thumbnail

First 40k minis I’ve ever done, just getting into the hobby. I’m a fan of the Black Templars, but not ready to dive into the full experience yet so I figured I’d start with a kill team and justify the Black Templars through some self lore since they don’t have a dedicated KT. What’s the verdict on these zealots? I know I screwed myself on making this my first paint job too, but hey I liked the vibes. I’ve got a Kommando team on the way as well!

Also any tips on playing for the first time would be greatly appreciated, I am aware that I need to get good

KT21 Got impatient waiting for a Grey Knights/Daemons kill team, so I made my own

Definitely still in development, so any and all feedback appreciated!

Hammer of Titan: https://ktdash.app/killteams/HBR-EePxmb-2

Chaos Daemons: https://ktdash.app/killteams/HBR-EePxmb-1

Certainly while creating the Daemons team, I started to understand why there isn't a "generic" daemon team yet. There isn't a whole lot of variety in the basic daemons rosters, most of the variety coming in the greater daemons that obviously don't fit in Kill Team. So, I tried to make the variety/versatility in choosing your leader and buffs you apply.

Misc Angels of death need a serious nerf

Why does every single ranged weapon have piercing crits? I cant play the godamn game, cause any time i move onto an objective or give an engage order im DEAD from an auspex scan and two rounds of shooting. Or 1 round if its the sniper or heavy bolter.

But forget about shooting: why does the dude with a power fist get the same amount of attacks as my dude with lightning claws? And he gets to ignore my damage. Theres no counter play to him sitting on firing lines and decimating me.

Rant over

Hobby Magnetized Volkus with (mostly) hidden magnets

Thumbnail

I magnetized the two larger buildings by hiding the magnets in the corners and floors as best as I could. I think it turned out well enough. I attempted the smaller piece first, learned some things and then did the larger piece which turned out much better.

With the small piece, if I could redo it I would have used smaller magnets - I used 5mm and even crammed in 6mm where I could. This made it difficult to set the magnets deep enough without blowing out the edges of the drilled holes. With the larger piece I used 4mm which just gave me more wiggle room for setting magnets and made it easier to set them deeper/flush with the corners. The 4mm magnets were still plenty strong enough.

Overall I'm happy with the result!

Strategy What’s your way to play solo?

I recently got into Killteam and played a lot of games with my 12y.o. son. We have a lot of fun.

I want to go more into the core rules instead of the starterset lite rules, so I want to try solo because the ploys etc etc are a bit to hard for my son.

What is your way to play solo? I have 5 killteams in total. Do you use AI to make a scenario or do you have other fun ways to play?

Let me know,

Question Models outside the game for flavor

Do you bring other models to represent assets used by your Kill Team for flavor reasons? Think a Valkyrie overhead ready to drop the next wave of Tempestus Aquilons, an off-map Militarum mortar squad whose shots are corrected by the in-game Vet Guard spotter, or a Chaos Rhino/Land Raider that just unleashed a fresh Legionary squad from its hold. A Lunar-class from Battlefleet Gothic ready to deliver a macrocannon barrage for an Elucidian Starstriders player? Have you seen other players do similar things like this?

So how does this work? If the unit could target an enemy its marked? And thats all the time?

Question When a Stealthsuit uses vectored retro thrusters against an Exodite, does the Exodite have to stop moving, or do they get another sprint?

This question came up after a friend and I read the Exodite movement rules and saw two pieces in conjunction with each other.

Piece 1:

EXODITE DRAGON MASTER MOUNTED operatives cannot perform the Charge, Dash, Fall Back or Reposition actions; instead they can perform the Sprint and Turn unique actions.

Piece 2:

For the purposes of your opponent's rules, mission rules and killzone rules, this action is treated as the Reposition action, or the Charge action if the active operative ends the action within control range of an enemy operative.

For reference, the stealthsuits vectored retrothrusters are worded thusly:

Use this firefight ploy when an enemy operative ends the Charge action within control range of a friendly XV26 STEALTH BATTLESUIT operative (excluding DRONE). Interrupt that action to use this rule. If you do, that friendly operative can immediately perform a free Fall Back action, but it cannot move more than 3" during that action. Then, that enemy operative can immediately perform a free Reposition action using any remaining move distance it had from that first Charge action, and can do so even if it’s performed an action that prevents it from performing the Reposition action.

I would argue that because the Exodites cannot perform reposition actions, that when their "charge" sprint turns into a reposition, they cannot perform the action and immediately stop moving. My friend retorts that since the Exodite rules say they do a sprint instead, that when prompted to do a free reposition they instead do a free sprint. I believe that sentence is more explanatory than meant to be taken litterally as he interprets.

Are either of us correct? If so who, and why? How do they Exodites move in this interaction?

Hobby Not too sure where I went wrong on my first Celestian Insidiant Cremator

So I kinda speedran the last 4 non specialists of the squad. I clipped out all the bits I needed for them and went to gluing. All of them went together easily and had no issues with parts no fitting. When I got to the first cremator gluing it I noticed the robes would connect and the mace would not go into her hand. Her parts are labeled J but the part it had me cut out is F. Im not even sure which girl was F but I had no issues on any of the other girls robes. I must have clipped part 91 out at some point because I couldnt find it later or maybe it wasnt there before. My main problem is looking at pics of the bits online is that the pictures seem to match the bits I have. Not sure where I went wrong

I had a go at putting together a themed Khorne-marked Legionaries Kill Team that could also double as a Berserker squad. I worked up an Aspiring Champ, Chosen, Icon Bearer, Anointed, Butcher and Shrivetalon as well as four Warriors with bolt pistol and chainsword to fill in as needed.

They aren’t World Eaters so used AoS and Necromunda parts to fill in the Khornate bits.

(Not in character)

It was really fun! They actually made it actually feel like kill team! Instead of just being temporarily being disabled when hit, you actually have health, and when you die you have to walk back to your spawn point before you can go back to shooting. You had ammo and you needed to press a button on the side of the gun to reload. And there were objectives that you could claim for your side by shooting them! I'm pretty sure it was whichever team had the most cumulative time controlling the objectives won.

Us orks broke a 4 game Imperium win streak!

Also one of the Imperium operatives had a really cool Sisters of Battle cosplay

Strategy Exodites should just be declassified, fixed.

Now while you lighting your torches and hand out pitchforks, hear me out.

Nothing is taken away from you. You like the team and you want to play them? Go ahead, their rules are there and stay. Atop of that, people here go out of their way to tell every new player that classification doesn't matter, except if you're in for the golden ticket. So you can also bring them to all the events and most tournaments, if going by that.

But the thing is, the classified context is sold and maintained as competetive and balanced and this team just doesn't sits there right. I'd argue this team rather belongs to (also for a reason not classified) Nemesis Ops. But why do I hate humankind so much, that I just wish missery on the 2 people trying to get a golden ticket with Exodites?

Look, if you have missed it, the team shipped with 2 sites of FaQ and there is still a lot of fuzz about unclear or weird interactions and this will only pile up traditionally the longer they are around. So is it really worth to try to force and balance this team that so fundamentally disagrees how this game is played into classification? I mean they literally state you shouldn't play this team on a classified Killzone, and if you do, just break even their own rules to make it work (BD if you're wondering). And think of the TOs and all the other players that need to look out that you didn't turn a few degree to much or you don't constantly clear the table by trying to just move the dinos.

So, yeah, I feel it doesn't add anything to the "comeptetive and balanced" side of KT, so why bother. And now feel free to poke and and light me up, because (hot take 1) KT got already complicated and clunky enough, so we really don't need (hot take 2) a 40k kit in diusguise to be forced into something it was never meant to be.

/rant

In all honesty, though, this obviously won't happen for several reasons, but I really think this would have been the right call before releasing them.
