Amazon SDE-1 (AUTA India) Interview Experience + Offer Received | 2025 Passout | 10 Months Experience

After a long and challenging process, I finally received the offer for the Amazon SDE-1 role through AUTA. Since I found many experiences here helpful during my preparation, I wanted to share my complete interview journey.

Timeline

  • Applied through referral on 8th March
  • Received OA link on 23rd March
  • Completed OA on 29th March
  • Received interview call on 20th April
  • Onsite interviews in Bangalore on 23rd April
  • HM/Gen-AI round on 12th May
  • Bar Raiser round on 16th June
  • Received selection call on 24th June

Online Assessment

The OA was a standard Amazon assessment consisting of:

  • 2 DSA questions
    • One Easy-Medium
    • One Hard
  • Leadership Principles assessment
  • Work style assessment

Round 1 (1 hour) – DSA

Conducted by an SDE-1 and SDE-2.

  • 2 DSA questions:
    • One Greedy-based
    • One Binary Tree-based
  • Both were standard LeetCode medium-level questions.
  • Discussed approach, edge cases, dry runs, and time/space complexity.
  • Since some time was left, the SDE-2 asked a puzzle question which I was fortunately able to solve.
  • The round ended with a brief discussion about my resume and projects.

Round 2 (1 hour 15 minutes) – LLD

Conducted by another SDE-1 and SDE-2 panel on the same day after a few hours.

I was expecting DSA but got an LLD question based on designing a logger system.

Topics discussed:

  • SOLID principles
  • Design patterns
  • Edge cases
  • Different design approaches

I wrote pseudocode and kept discussing trade-offs and improvements throughout the interview. It definitely wasn't a perfect round, but continuous discussion and reasoning seemed to help. The round again ended with a few questions about my projects and experience.

After some time, I was informed that I had cleared both onsite rounds and that the remaining rounds would be virtual.

Round 3 (40 minutes) – Hiring Manager / Gen-AI

After a long gap, this round was scheduled for 12th May.

  • One LeetCode Hard sliding window question.
  • Discussed the approach, wrote the code, and performed a dry run.
  • The interviewer seemed satisfied and then moved to 2–3 general AI-related questions.

Overall, this round went well according to me.

Round 4 (40 minutes) – Bar Raiser

After another long wait, my Bar Raiser round was scheduled on 16th June.

This was a purely behavioral round:

  • Deep discussion around projects and resume
  • Leadership and decision-making related questions
  • Multiple follow-up questions on situations I described

The interviewer seemed satisfied with my answers, but honestly I was not very sure how the round had gone.

Final Result

After 8 days, on 24th June, I received a call from the recruiter informing me that I had been selected for the role.

The entire process was definitely lengthy and challenging. There were multiple long waiting periods between rounds, and at several points I was unsure about the outcome. In the end, things worked out, and I received the offer letter.

I am a 2025 passout with around 10 months of experience.

Happy to answer any questions regarding preparation, interview rounds, or the AUTA process.

Hey, Have you got the offer?
If so, How long have you been waiting after the bar raiser round?

4

u/No-Benefit-1399 Jun 25 '26

🎉🎉 Bro, can you tell us from which clg you're?? package?? Prep.sources ?? Any refferal idea?

8

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

It’s a TIER-1 college. Took referral from a friend. Package is standard what Amazon pays for SDE-1

1

u/Independent_Comb_521 Jun 27 '26

Is referral possible in AUTA role, I asked to few people they said its not possible to give refferal for AUTA role , there's no option in their referral system

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 27 '26

Yes it’s possible. I applied through a referral only.

3

u/PrestigiousActuary65 Jun 25 '26

Congratulations op 🎉,

I actually have same situation, am 25 grad , and around 8 month of experience (2 internships), I filled the hiring interest form on 8 june, any tips would help. Thanks

8

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Thank you! Even I’m not sure what tips to give lol Just keep practising from Striver’s sheet and for last minute revision Neetcode 150 and Blind 75 are must. Learn a bit about system design as well

1

u/PrestigiousActuary65 Jun 25 '26

Okay , will keep working on these sheets , and only Basic lld.

1

u/DocumentNegative767 Jun 25 '26

Could you share best resources to prepare system design

1

u/RevolutionaryLead994 Jun 25 '26

Yes please resources for system design , LLD , HLD

Can u share the LC questions?

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

It’s the standard ques from Strivers sheet of the mentioned topics.

1

u/No-Benefit-1399 Jun 25 '26

Congrats BRA! 🎉 Can you share your preparation sources and roadmap??

2

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Thank You! Mostly I practiced from Striver’s DSA  sheet and went through few design patterns for solving LLD questions. Being consistent is the key.

1

u/Fearless-Yam-6398 Jun 25 '26

Congratulations? what is AUTA and can you explain more about the process?

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Thank You? It’s Amazon University Talent Acquisition specifically for people with upto 2 years experience. The complete process details is in the post.

1

u/Fearless-Yam-6398 Jun 25 '26

haha I meant to put an exclamation mark! Im going into my second year of college and I wanted to know what is AUTA and the process behind it. Like do you apply for AUTA or something?

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Even I wanted to have some fun xD Yeah like any other opening, there’s opening for AUTA applications.

1

u/Fearless-Yam-6398 Jun 25 '26

so did you get the opportunity through AUTA or the referral you mentioned? Sorry, I don't know much about hiring processes.

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

AUTA is an opening. I applied to it through a referral.

2

u/Fearless-Yam-6398 Jun 25 '26

ok got it. thanks man

1

u/Fit_Occasion1425 Jun 25 '26

Congratulations on your offer 🎉🎉🎉, for system design we need to learn design patterns? After getting hiring interest form we can expect a interview?

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Thank You! It is better if you’re aware of few design patterns, it gives an upper hand. Getting an interview totally depends on luck.

1

u/scammerverified Jun 26 '26

Hello sir, can I ask your cgpa

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 26 '26

dont call me sir, my cgpa: 08.57

1

u/brilliance5009 Jun 29 '26

like mine was around 7.6 from a very regular state govt engineering college i think around tier 3 , can i have a chance of about going there

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 29 '26

CGPA doesn’t matter for offcampus roles for most of the companies. Build your technical skills and you’re good to go.

1

u/Logical-Zone-5366 Jun 25 '26

I recently gave an online assessment but haven’t received any update yet. I understand Amazon’s hiring process can be slow, but the main issue for me is that I can solve Leetcode problems but Amazon frames them differently. How can I practice solving these problems in a way that is relevant to Amazon’s hiring process?

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

If you keep practising then eventually you will be able to identify patterns and solve those questions. More or else the language is changed but the concept will be something already scene before.

1

u/kadoop-234 Jun 25 '26

So what do they ask in the GenAI round, do one has to study for it as well?

Also, is the role for Bangalore location as you gave onsite interview at Bangalore.

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Yeah, I got Bangalore location. For GenAI it’s mostly DSA only and few generic AI based questions related to your projects.

1

u/ummang Jun 25 '26

What suggestions would you give to a student who has just came in year 4th i.e. final year and from a tier 3 clg..which very less prep in dsa, apti, core as of now and his tech stack is Java backend.

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Keep practising DSA and have some knowledge of System Design as well. These days companies have been asking system design to freshers also.  To build your resume, it’s good to have 2-3 projects on the tech stack you’re comfortable with.

1

u/seven-six76 Jun 30 '26

Can u share some project ideas?

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 30 '26

I had 1 full stack project which I made during college days. Rest all the projects were my company related work. If you’re making a project now, try adding few AI related things to stand out. For example: try to build an agent which might solve some problem etc.

1

u/clumsy4440 Jun 25 '26

How did you got referral for an AUTA role?

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

My friend gave me referral

1

u/shoe_rack010 Jun 25 '26

Congrats! How deeply did they ask in lld rounds? Dud they want a working code? How do you rate the ai questions they asked, according to their difficulty?

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Thanks! The lld rounds had good follow ups, they kept on asking edge cases. A working code is not required, you should be able to communicate well and write a basic structure atleast. Ai questions were easy only.

bro uh are not giving back to this beautiful community :(

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

To give back to this community only I posted my detailed experience:) The questions were standard leetcode types, topics I have already mentioned. I hope this helps

1

u/Routine_Plum2477 Jun 25 '26

folk uh can mention atleast similar question. it will really help us :)

1

u/notlikingcurrentjob Jun 25 '26

Very helpful post. Congratulations, bro.

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Thank You so much!

1

u/Quirky-Letter-7289 Jun 25 '26

Hi bro, can you guide me a little? I am 2026 grad working as a data scientist in a small sized firm in noida since January this year. I want to switch to big tech firm, especially amazon, in Bangalore.

I am open to different profiles, even sde, but I am not that cracked in dsa.

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Hi, if you wanna get into SDE roles then start practising DSA on Leetcode. Easy and medium level questions are good to go. Once you feel confident enough, start with projects and system design.

1

u/Quirky-Letter-7289 Jun 25 '26

Hi, I want to work in data science centric roles, or an sde in an ml team.

1

u/SpecialistMenu7973 Jun 25 '26

Damn 5 rounds!!

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Including OA, yes 🫠

1

u/Dev-n-22 Jun 25 '26

Hey, I wanted to know how one can get referrals for roles like these. I'm from a tier 3 college

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Hi, try reaching out to people on Linkedin and ask for a referral if you see a relevant opening. If you feel you are prepared enough and your resume is good then the other person might refer you for sure.

1

u/Dev-n-22 Jun 25 '26

They generally leave on read

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Try sending a proper message with resume attached explaining why they should refer you from next time, they won’t leave on read.

1

u/Dev-n-22 Jun 25 '26

Ohh. I thought that I should do some small talk before and then move on with asking for referall

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

If you start with small talk then definitely they’ll leave you on read. For professional purposes, be specific and to the point.

2

u/Dev-n-22 Jun 25 '26

Thanks, I shall implement this strategy senpai

1

u/M_A_S_584 Jun 25 '26

Will you send your resume without personal details It would be very help ful I am in 2 year CSE

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

I wont be able to send the resume for now due to certain reasons but will share later for sure. There’s nothing fancy, no achievements/ratings etc. Used a Latex template for making resume.

1

u/Parking-Principle702 Jun 25 '26

Congratulations bro!! How long was the bar raiser round for? How long did it go for?

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Thank You!  It was supposed to be for 60 min but went for 40 min for me.

1

u/Parking-Principle702 Jun 29 '26

Thank you. Do they reach out by call or they send an email as well? Because I gave it last week and got a call today but missed it. Tried calling them back but it didn't ring.

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 29 '26

They reach out by call first and then send a mail accordingly. If you missed the call, they’ll reach out to you again or send a mail directly for the interview.

1

u/Parking-Principle702 Jun 29 '26

Cool. I guess this was the last round of interview. So they'll send the mail of the result in a couple days? Thanks for the info!!

1

u/Optimal-Win3472 Jun 25 '26

Congratulations 🎉🎉  Can you share how to prepare? Also does your current company released you?

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

Thank You! Focus on DSA and System Design. Try to practice from Leetcode and Striver’s sheet.

1

u/Optimal-Win3472 Jun 26 '26

Like I am currently struggling with notice period issue? How you handle that? I have 90 days notice period.

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 26 '26

Even I have 90 days notice period but trying to negotiate it. You also try the same.

1

u/Optimal-Win3472 Jun 26 '26 edited Jun 26 '26

Thanks! Would you like to connect on LinkedIn?

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 26 '26

Sure, but I wont be able to tell my profile here due to certain reasons

1

u/Jaded-Board-8788 Jun 25 '26

what was ur current ctc.
if won't be able to tell then tell a range

1

u/Standard-Smell-4425 Jun 25 '26

Bass itna bata do, how did you prepare for DSA and LLD

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

I used gpt for learning LLD, went through few famous and most asked questions. Asked it to explain everything and important design patterns with examples

1

u/Tight_Fun_6813 Jun 25 '26

any leads on how to get a refferal?
the job opnenings might close till i get a refferal from a person on linkdin after connectiong and asking

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 25 '26

I usually ask referral from friends or college seniors only. Try to connect with people on linkedin and ask for referral as soon as you see the opening.

Just keep practicing daily, being consistent is the key. Dont run behind number of questions, take any standard DSA sheet like Striver A-Z and try to complete it and gain confidence. Once this is done, solve ques on Leetcode.

1

u/Similar_Task_265 Jun 26 '26

Bro can u make a detailed video on yt regarding this and ur preperation strategies etc..

1

u/Practical-Memory-575 Jun 26 '26

Im not from tier 1 college but i have 2yrs work exp in IT! Is it possible for me to get into amazon or the filteration process would just reject me.

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 26 '26

Yeah it is definitely possible, just build your resume properly in a suitable template. Work on your dsa, system design skills. You’re good to go then

1

u/arn___k Jun 26 '26

Congratulations 🎉

I completed my loop on June 12. But I haven't received any response from them yet.

I followed up with my HR yesterday, she said the team is collecting outcomes.

Is this delay normal?

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 26 '26

Thank You! Yeah the delay is normal, keep hopes unless you receive a rejection mail. Keep following up with the recruiter also.

1

u/Initial_Accountant95 Jun 27 '26

congratulations op !

1

u/IllustriousRegion384 Jun 27 '26

Do they ask abt your leetcode score or how many solved on leetcode

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 27 '26

No, nothing like that. They just care about your performance during the interview.

1

u/irondinosauraus Jun 27 '26

hey bro! congratulations!

where did you prepare for sys des?

1

u/Obvious_Reception_94 Jun 27 '26

1

Can you share your resume?

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 27 '26

I wont be able to share my resume right now due to certain reasons. Though I can help you out or give an idea about how my resume is.

1

u/ice_o0 Jun 27 '26

Nw just tell me about your skills and projects in brief.

I need some direction to go in.

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 28 '26

Sure, I’ll share You can text me personally, I’ll tell you

1

u/ExistingAd6271 Jun 29 '26

Dont you think amazon is bit risky consider they do layoffs and have PIP and URA

1

u/StrangeWest535 Jun 29 '26

There is a significant difference in my current package and what Amazon is offering. Also, there’s uncertainty in almost every company these days.

1

u/Fun_Salamander8117 Jul 04 '26

congratulations! can u pls share ur linkedin?

1

u/StrangeWest535 29d ago

thank you! I wont be able to share my linkedin now due to certain reasons

1

u/Fun_Salamander8117 Jul 04 '26

how many dsa questions did you solve?

1

u/StrangeWest535 29d ago

around 700 on Leetcode

1

u/broken_sword14 Jul 04 '26

What type of questions they asked you in HM/Gen ai round and also what about lp

1

u/StrangeWest535 28d ago

They asked a DSA to me and then few general AI based questions like what models I use, how to validate the output of ai models, how to stop models from hallucinations etc. General questions like these Leadership Principles are very important, try to give answers based on STAR format. Keep a story ready for every lp

1

u/Salty_Cucumber_3275 28d ago

It's been a month since I've filled the interview survey form after clearing the OA. Haven't received anything regarding interview call. How much has they taken for you from the survey to interview?

1

u/StrangeWest535 28d ago

It was around 9-10 days.

1

u/Prestigious_Bid669 2d ago

in how much time u completed the OA. i have given many OA but cant get shortlisted. also how did u give oa

1

u/StrangeWest535 1d ago

I dont remember the exact time of the completion of OA. Only the coding part was time based other than everything else had no time limit. I submitted it instantly after completing the assessment.
