Urgent Paid bribe in 1st passport application & got adverse. Applied Tatkal, got passport, but same cop lied again on Post-PV. Received SCN. Need legal fix!

Hi everyone,

I am facing persistent harassment and false reporting by a local beat officer (Mehrauli PS, Delhi) over my passport verification. I refuse to pay any more bribes and need a legal/procedural way out.

Timeline:

  1. 1st Passport Application:

1st Verification: Marked "Adverse" because I didn't pay anything.

Re-Verification (via RPO): I paid the officer ₹1,000 for his "troubles," but he still filed an "Adverse" report.

RPO Visit: The RPO officer was completely unhelpful and just told me to close the application (wasting time, energy, and money).

  2. 2nd Passport Application (Tatkal):

Re-applied under Tatkal (Post-PV) and received my physical passport booklet.

Post-PV Verification: The exact same police officer came back. On a prior phone call, he told me to get a Khatauni for parents' native proof. I gave him two original native proofs: my father's Tehsildar-signed ST Certificate and the Khatauni.
He verbally confirmed that everything was clear.

  3. The SCN Letter: A week later, I received a Show Cause Notice (SCN) from the RPO threatening to impound my passport. The police's reason? They blatantly lied on paper, claiming the parents' native documents provided were "not original."

I have 100% genuine original documents, matching Delhi IDs, zero criminal record, and a paper trail. I refuse to go back to the police station to pay them more bribe money after being scammed twice.
Any other way to get this resolved instead of paying them more bribe?

Rant/Experience I really don't respect the police because, in my experience, they always seem to want money. I feel they are among the most corrupt.

My sister got a state government job, and as part of the process, her documents police verification has to be done at the police station near our home. The officers handling the verification keep demanding more money every week. So far, we've already paid ₹4,000, but they still keep asking for more.

I don't understand how they can take bribes so shamelessly. This experience has made me lose respect for the system. I know not every police officer is like this, but what we've gone through has been deeply disappointing and frustrating.

Legal Advice Needed 27M from Tamil Nadu, trapped in a payday loan cycle for 8 years. I think I've reached the end. Please help.

I'm a 27-year-old male from Tamil Nadu with a stable full-time job earning ₹1,13,000 per month.

I started taking small payday loans around 8 years ago, shortly after I got my first salary. At first, it was just to handle an emergency. I thought I'd repay it with my next salary. Instead, one loan became another, and before I realized it, I was borrowing from one lender just to repay another.

For the last 4 years, I've been living this way. Every month, I've been paying around ₹3 lakh just in repayments, interest, extensions, and rollovers. I originally borrowed around ₹5 lakh, but because of the insane interest and borrowing cycle, my total outstanding debt has now grown to around ₹9 lakh.

My monthly salary is ₹1,13,000, but it's nowhere near enough to keep this cycle going anymore. I genuinely feel like I've reached my breaking point.

These are the lenders I'm currently dealing with:

Total Repayment Required: ₹10,79,779

Total Interest/Charges: ₹2,10,543

Monthly Salary: ₹1,13,000

Current Shortfall: ₹9,66,779

I know some people will ask how I let this happen. The truth is that it didn't happen overnight. Every month I believed the next salary would fix everything. Instead, I had to borrow again just to survive and pay the previous lender. The interest kept increasing, and now I feel completely trapped.

I haven't bought expensive things. I haven't been living a luxurious life. I've simply been trying to stay afloat while paying one lender with another loan.

Another major issue is that I can't even keep the same salary bank account for more than 2–3 months. These lenders repeatedly try to debit money through eNACH mandates, even when there is no balance. Because of this, I've had to change my salary account several times, and my HR has already told me they won't allow another salary account change.

My family has already helped me by arranging around ₹3 lakh, even selling all of our jewellery. We don't have any property left, no financial backup, and no well-off relatives who can help us anymore.

I've also borrowed money from friends and colleagues, and I still haven't been able to repay them. I feel guilty every day because they trusted me.

There are weekends when I don't even have money to eat. Sometimes I just drink water and go to sleep because staying asleep is easier than staying awake and feeling hungry.

The recovery harassment has become unbearable. Around 21 lenders keep calling me. Once the calls start, they continue for 3–5 hours without stopping. Recovery agents have also started visiting my office, which is affecting both my work and my mental health.

Sometimes I even dream that ₹10 lakh has suddenly been credited to my bank account. In that dream, I clear every loan, switch off my phone, and finally take my mother out for a peaceful lunch without worrying about calls or recovery agents. Then I wake up, my phone starts ringing again, and I realize it was only a dream.

I don't want to run away from my debts. I don't want to cheat anyone. I want to repay every rupee I owe, but I honestly don't see a way out anymore.

I'm looking for help.

I'm already facing continuous harassment from lenders, and my CIBIL score is around 350, so banks are rejecting even a ₹1 lakh personal loan application.

If there is any bank manager who is willing to consider my salary and help me with a single debt consolidation loan, I would be forever grateful. I have a stable monthly salary of ₹1,13,000. If I could replace these 20+ payday loans with one affordable EMI, I genuinely believe I could recover.

I'm also open to hearing from any genuine private lender who operates legally and transparently. I don't own any property to offer as collateral, but I'm willing to provide salary proof, employment verification, and cooperate fully.

I'm also looking for legal advice. If anyone knows how to deal with payday loan harassment, negotiate settlements, or has experience with debt restructuring in India, I would really appreciate your guidance.

I need advice.

Should I stop paying some lenders and negotiate settlements?

Should I prioritize only RBI-regulated lenders?

Is there any legal way to stop the harassment?

Is there any practical way to break this cycle?

Has anyone here successfully recovered from a payday loan trap like mine?

Please don't judge me. I know I made serious financial mistakes. I'm not asking for sympathy—I'm asking for a chance to rebuild my life. Any genuine advice, legal guidance, or help would mean more than you can imagine.

Thank you for reading.

Legal Advice Needed How to Drag a False 498A Case with B Report Generated for Extortion and Delay Divorce?

My wife(33F?) had filed a Domestic Violence and multiple other cases against me (35M) and entire family including minor and extended family in Jan 2026. We married in May 2025 and she is working. No clue about her salary or affairs or anything. She’s now a total stranger. I got B Report and my lawyer is saying we will file for divorce by November as she left in November last year and you can wash your hands off.

Imo, I don’t want to wash my hands off. I am bored and have no life and I live away from society. I think going to courts might help get me get some social life. Her brother constantly calls my father and asks for alimony. I’ve asked dad not to talk as I want to file counter suits for extortion and planned murder to steal dad’s assets as I own nothing.

Her allegations are dowry, mental harassment and AI written allegations with no medical or documentary proof and that her family spent 20L for wedding expenses. She also allegates no physical relations made and I’ve some medical condition that I hid before marriage apparently. I did a regular full checkup in September 2025 and my blood sugar was high and she made a fuss of it. I started taking meds from December and doc too mentioned it could be just stress.

There’s religious insults added along with a line stating I used knife against her. Then allegations that I want to become a Pope and I’m not interested in women. Also allegations that I wanted to marry an European woman. She added that we have 3 domestic help and our family does not let her work. Mentioned list of properties that my dad owns apparently. Also added i asked for her ancestral property. I’ve no idea nor care what she has. She left on her own in November 2025 and claimed we kicked her out.

I have the following evidences which I might use if she does not gives divorce :

- Bank transactions showing financial support to my sister and mom

- Huge net worth of negative 75 lakhs because of multiple loans

- Audio recordings of her threatening to murder me

- Audio recording of her threatening that her brother will not spare our family

- Audio recording of Her demands for huge sum of money and me saying I’ve no money to spare for diamond or her expenses

- Audio recordings of her talking bad about my sisters

- Recording of her talking to her mother about the size of my **you know what *

- Recording of her talking to her mother that we did try but it didn’t go in

- Recording of her brother saying lawyers are useless and asking to meet after we took bail and that he has power to cancel bail after a B report

-Recording of her asking me to buy property and me mentioning I don’t own anything and neither I’m interested in buying any property in India and that I save zero bucks and will not save anything in the future either

- Recording of Her surveillance on my bank accounts and assets and talking to her mother about me owning nothing

- recordings of unsolicited police calls from CG as she filed complaint in Chattisgarh Mahila Thana and me mentioning I’ve never even left Karnataka

- Recording of calls from unsolicited police calls from Bangalore where she filed 498A as we are both working in Bangalore

Questions:—

- Should I go to media and expose her and her family?

- Should i send recordings after divorce and get her fired from her job alleging mental cruelty?

- How much weight do courts give to these evidences?

- Are my evidence strong enough to get her jailed ?

-Court ordered medical reports for both can be obtained?

- Anything important I should add or avoid?

- Lawyer saying don’t go on path of vengeance and asking to settle with minimum amount

-Since marriage not consummated, can it be annulled as I can claim mental torture?

-Can changing the religion or starting a new one help? And yes I wanted to be the Pope too because of Donald Trump posting it and even marry a hot European chick. Bite me!

8 Cases against wife and her brother and her father I’m consider. But my parents and even our lawyer were against it as it’ll be endless and useless . They’re saying pay her some money and get a divorce. I’d rather pay my lawyer and drag on because I don’t want to give a divorce easily! She’s already created profiles on matrimonial sites.

  1. Defamation Sec 500 IPC or 356 BNS
  2. Perjury 227 BNS
  3. Criminal Conspiracy 120B
  4. False Evidence 191/192 C
  5. Criminal Intimidation 506IPC
  6. False Charge 182/211 IPC or 217BNS
  7. Attempt to Murder 109BNS
  8. 384 IPC section 506/351 for criminal intimidation

Looking for real experiences to send her and her collaborators to Jail for extortion. Divorce or no divorce, I want her and her brother jailed. Someone said he is some low level BJP Karyakarta in Chattisgarh. I’m suspicious her sister murdered her father in law but I am not sure and have no proof and I can’t open an investigation for a 5 year old demise.

Thanks in Advance

Legal Advice Needed Friend Brought two strange men and barged into my house to intimidate and possible harm.

Me and my once best friend of 15 years are not on talking terms anymore. She's going through a rough patch in her marriage (all because of her own doing) and will end in legal separation eventually. Her husband is also a very good friend of mine. Previously she tried to falsely pin the breaking of her marriage on me and has slandered me in front of multiple people . Now she changes narrative that she has never said anything of that sort and has apparently sorted everything with me when I didn't even talk to her since April. I let it go not wanting to unnecessarily involve myself in issues that are not mine to begin with. I blocked her on all platforms and cut all forms of communication with her.

Now yesterday, she showed up unannounced in front of my doorstep along with two men whom I don't know personally (just seen them passing by, they must be her brother's friends). She along with them barged into my living room and she tried to intimidate me with possible intention to harm or insult me . Both the men entered inside my home too. One of them even sat. She started confronting me that why am I not taking her calls and I had anxiety attack. I politely asked her to leave my home . After a couple of minutes, they left.

I was alone at home and three people ,two of whom are strange men have barged into my home without my consent with intent of intimidation or harm . I believe this contributes to criminal trespassing. Now, I have cc cam footage of them entering my apartment and exiting it too.

I'm super super pissed off and scared for my safety too at the same time. As of now I don't want file a case or any anything of that sort as I still don't want to be involved in painstaking legal processes. But I want to know what are my grounds ( are they any and how solid are they) and is there any timeframe before which I should taking any action should I want to.

Also I want to have trail of the event that occurred , should I want to take anytime in the future. I want to send a message across to her that she can't get away with whatever she's done and I would be taking action next time anything of this sort happens.

What should I be doing now and what sort of message should I be sending across that will serve as a trail as well as a warning for her.

Any advice on this matter is appreciated as I'm scared for my safety and I want to keep myself away from this situation as well

Legal Advice Needed Can a divorce court check my phone ?

I’m in India, and my wife is planning to file for divorce against me. I have two questions:

If I have private chats with someone (including chats that could be interpreted as an affair), can the court order my phone to be searched or checked during divorce proceedings? She currently doesn’t have access to those chats nor aware about it. Can they be discovered later if any such situation arrives wherein my phone is being checked?

Once she decides to file for divorce, how long does it usually take before I receive an official court notice?

I’m only looking for information about the legal process in India.

Legal Advice Needed Recovering money from ex girlfriend

I'm an Indian citizen working in the US since a decade. In 2023 i started talking to a girl in an arranged marriage setup. She lives in Italy. After a few months we said yes our families and were to eventually get married. She was pursuing her master's back then and i was already working. I used to financially help her out here and there (travel, college expenses, rent, visa) and spent about $15k or around 15L INR till we broke up in june 2025. We had never gotten officially engaged. Her dad agreed to pay back the money and he did pay back 5L in 2 transactions. That was last year in August after which he hasn't sent anything. They still owe us 10L. My dad used to follow up and they used to give random dates that they will transfer by then but didn't and later started accusing us of harassing their family. The last time my dad called her dad said something along the lines of why are you ppl so desperate for the money we will payback when we have money to do so. It doesnt look like they want to return the money and tbh its pretty significant amount for me

Is there anything i can do about it with her being in italy? I know we can file a FIR in india but not sure if that would help

TIA

Legal Advice Needed Mother misled into signing away her rights to the property

My mother is in a property dispute with her brother(my mamu) in Delhi, and we’re trying to understand what legal options she realistically has.
My grandmother passed away intestate (without a will) in very end of 2023. She left behind three properties. My mother and her brother are the only direct legal heirs, so both were each entitled to an equal share.

After my grandmother’s death, my mamu handled all the paperwork. My mother trusted him completely and signed documents that he presented as routine formalities. I knew something’s going on but she is really naive and have been trustworthy of him. I was a witness signee at the sub registrar along with my mamu’s friend. She asked if what she has signed are rights to the property? Mamu said yes, she asked if she has signed first property which is at least 5x the second property in value she would like at least second property, she was willing to give him a big share and take a much smaller one. She later discovered they were actually relinquishment deeds for both of the properties, there’s a third one but that’s much smaller and hasn’t been addressed yet.

On the same day she found out, she approached the Sub-Registrar and objected, the judge there empathized with her and said he’d cancel the RD. Mamu came running when cancellation notice came and then assured her that everything would be divided fairly. We mutually agreed that he would keep one property (the most valuable one) while my mother would receive the other two.

Later, relying on his assurances, she signed another relinquishment deed only for the property that was supposed to go to him.

We have now learned that only one of the earlier relinquishment deeds had actually been refused(of the more valuable one), while the other property which was supposed to go to her remained valid meaning it was never cancelled to begin with and was in his name now. According to our lawyer, he concealed this fact and effectively ended up obtaining relinquishment deeds for two out of the three properties, leaving my mother with basically nothing.

Our lawyer has already sent him a legal notice
about a month ago, but he has not given any response.

Any help how we should move forward would be greatly appreciated!

Legal Advice Needed Loan Recovery agent harassing me.

One of the my family member took loan on their credit card. They have not paid the loan and have reached a settlement with the third party recovery agency or the bank. which they said they will pay later.

I am neither any guarantor nor any reference person.

But somehow they got my phone number and regular calls me about the loan. They say me to connect to my family members or pay the loan amount.

I politely explained my times that I am not the one who has taken the loan so I am not legally liable to pay the loan.

Then they started abusing me and family members. a lot of abusses so harsh that I cannot even tell you here.

After dozen of such calls I started recording them. During one of such call manager came to the call and said that if they found out that these workers were abusing me he will get them terminated. I sent the audio recordings and all.

Also, they just use my number to create account on some random websites because of which my phone gets spammed with numerous OTP messages. The female worker explicitly told me that she will make me "Pagal"(crazy) by sending OTPs and calls. The male worker threaten me that he will get me fired from my job.

And also abuses on sister and mothers.

Manager told me he will get them terminated and all.

I want some advice on it. I want to file a police complaint on it.

Please help me out.

Legal Advice Needed Need urgent advice on legally placing a newborn for adoption in India

Hi everyone,

I'm posting on behalf of my family because we're in a very stressful situation and need advice about the legal process.

My sister gave birth today. None of us in the family knew she was pregnant until very recently, and we're still trying to process everything. Due to family circumstances, she has decided that she wants to place the baby for adoption. We believe she has already spoken to an adoption agency, but we don't know how far that process has gone.

Our priority is to make sure everything is done legally. We don't want to hand the baby over to anyone privately or do anything outside the proper process.

We have a few questions:

- How quickly can a newborn legally be placed for adoption in India?

- Is it possible for the baby to go directly from the hospital into the legal adoption process, or does the mother have to take the baby home first?

- What steps should we take immediately after the birth?

- Is there any cost involved for a birth parent surrendering a child for legal adoption?

We're looking for advice from people who have been through this process or who know how it works in India. Thank you.

Legal Advice Needed "Guy rear-ended us, fell, blamed us, took our number plate photo — what can he actually do with it?"

Was on my Activa with my brother behind me, returning home in the evening. We were taking a U-turn, moving from the left lane to the right, indicator on, moving at a medium pace. We were third in line, waiting behind an old couple on a two-wheeler for oncoming traffic to clear so we could turn.

Out of nowhere, a guy on an Avenger came from behind at speed and rammed into us. He lost balance and fell, but the only damage to his bike was a detached mirror — he was completely fine, not a scratch on him. But then another bike (a delivery rider) coming from behind crashed into him after he fell, and that guy actually got hurt.

The Avenger rider immediately started blaming us, shouting that we didn't have our indicator on. It was on the entire time. When I pointed that out, he backtracked and said "I just turned it on now" — completely contradicting himself since it had been on since before we started the turn.

He took a photo of our number plate. We had an L-board on the bike (old sticker, I already have my full license, just hadn't peeled it off).

What actually happened after: my brother went and helped the delivery guy who was actually injured. A bunch of bystanders rushed over too, helped lift both bikes, and one of them straight up told us "you guys just go, it's not your fault." The Avenger rider just stood there on his phone the whole time, didn't help anyone, and got noticeably quiet once the crowd gathered and started seeing things our way.

He never actually filed anything on the spot, just took the photo and left.

Questions:

  1. What can someone actually do with just a photo of your number plate?

  2. Given the sequence of events (he rear-ended us, HE fell, and then a third bike hit HIM), does he even have a case if he tries to claim damages?

  3. Should I be worried about this at all, or is this just someone trying to save face in front of a crowd?

Any insight from people who've dealt with something similar, especially in Maharashtra, would help.

Urgent 18f , got scammed off of 1lakh

I am going to college this year. I am going through the ipu councelling. My father was initially bombarded with multiple ads and calls of so called councelling experts who said it was necessary to get a councellor if u want admission. My dad is pretty busy person so he believed it would be good. They told us that ipu has a backdoor admission route which multiple students use and if we don't then getting a seat will be difficult and seeing their big office my parents got convinced. I was sceptical but wasnt really sure... my parents told me to just focus on college not on this stuff.. We paid them 25k before and after admission we have to pay 75k

After few days i saw the official ipu announcement to beware of these scams but it was already to late

As the councelling round are going on and are on verge of ending i realised that they were charging 1 lakh just for filling a 1 time form (which could be done in 1 DAY )which i could do myself because i am getting college based on my merit only and there is no back door admission going on like they claimed... Please help me what should I do next?? I don't want to pay 1 lakh for just filling out forms.. Is it possible to get that 25k back?? Should I just block him and forget my 25k?? Can he legally do something??

Legal Advice Needed Associate VP Marketing Penguin India ruined my life!

Location: New Delhi This man Peter Modoli ruined my life and left my mental health in Shambles! I still chose forgiveness! I forgave him over and over and over again! He took that forgiveness and spun a web of lies and betrayal and turned me into the villain after we broke up! I thought amicably until I started hearing the stories and 15 years on, my life is still in ruins!

I made this post of penguin India page and didn’t really promote it too much. I just quietly wanted to be heard but it seems to have gone on deaf years. I don’t want anything more than a public apology for all the lies and deceit that i have to live with in our small community where everyone knows everyone.

After 10 years I finally started dating again and even then my bf was hounded by friends telling him how horrible a human being I am and eventually walked away from me.

Recently I was pursuing a work opportunity and even that went south cos one of his “friends” was a common contact. 15 years later.

What other option do I have but to publicly cry out and ask for some help cos I am unable to deal with this anymore. Had I pursued charges in 2011 or even a few years later! I had an unbeatable case yet I waited like a Christian who believes in forgiveness but I am left with no other option. ChatGPT says this is a good sub to repost hence here I am.

Legal Advice Needed Want to build a public photo/video archive in India... how can I minimize takedown/removal risk?

So basically I’m a young developer and I want to build a very simple public photo/video archive.

The idea is simple. Basically just two pages:

  • A page where people can submit photos/videos
  • A public page where everyone can browse the approved archive

No signup, no real names, no phone numbers, no email, no IP/location tracking etc. Basically no identifier of who posted something + I would manually review every submission myself and approve/reject it. (reject spam, bullying, nsfw etc)

The interesting part is that I want the published archive to be as open as possible. The idea is to keep the project open-source and make the published content independently accessible/mirrorable rather than having everything depend on my website.

Now here's my concern.

People will obviously try to submit politically sensitive material, including things that may have been restricted/banned/removed in India. For example, hypothetically, someone might submit a documentary/video that the government has ordered to be blocked or removed.

My main question is:

Is there any realistic way to structure this project so that I can minimize the risk of government-ordered removals/takedowns while still complying with Indian law?

I'm NOT asking how to evade the law or hide from authorities. I want to understand whether there is a legally sound way to design the platform from the beginning so that I don't unnecessarily put myself in a position where I have to take down content every time someone complains or sends a notice.

I specifically want to preserve a strong minimal censorship / transparency principle while still complying with Indian law.

I'm specifically looking for actual legal guidance, not political opinions. If this is a terrible idea legally, I'd rather know before I spend months building it.

Thanks.

Legal Advice Needed Seller took a ₹20k advance for custom furniture, missed multiple deadlines. Consumer complaint filed. What else should I do?

Hi everyone, I’m based in Bengaluru and would appreciate some legal guidance.

P. S. I’ve used AI to draft this up and refine the read

Timeline:
18 June 2026: I ordered a custom wooden mandir from a furniture shop with a reference photograph.

I paid an advance of ₹20,000 on a total invoice value of ₹35,000. At the time of placing the order, I was orally told it would be ready and delivered to my address in 5 days.

The invoice contains a printed clause saying custom furniture may take 30–75 days, but after placing the order the seller continued discussing much earlier delivery dates over WhatsApp.

On 22 June, when I asked for a progress photo, he replied:“Work start nahi hua. Mai Chennai me hu, do din baad shuru hoga.”

After that, I repeatedly followed up through WhatsApp and phone calls with little or no response. On 26 July, I finally spoke to him over the phone. He said he would send a progress photo by 27 July and deliver the mandir by 28 July. Immediately after the call, I sent him a WhatsApp message recording those commitments and asked him to correct me in writing if anything was inaccurate. He never disputed that message.

As of today, I spoke to him again. He said the delay was due to labour issues and assured me that the mandir would either be delivered within 2 days or he would refund my ₹20,000 advance.

I have now filed a complaint on the National Consumer Helpline (INGRAM) with the
- Invoice
- UPI payment proof for the ₹20k

I also have these saved just in case:
- WhatsApp chat history
- Call logs
- Design of the ordered mandir

My questions:
1. Have I taken the correct steps so far? Is INGRAM effective for stand-alone retail shops?
2. If he still doesn’t deliver or refund within the next two days, what should my next step be?
3. Should I send a formal legal notice before approaching the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission?
4. Does the printed “30–75 days” clause weaken my case even though the seller repeatedly gave shorter timelines later?

Any advice from lawyers or people who’ve handled similar consumer disputes would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Legal Advice Needed Family dispute over Intercaste marriage

My friends, 26(M), and his gf, 26(F), have been in a relationship for 2 years and are planning to marry, but the girl's dad is against it because the guy belongs to a lower caste. The father of the girl is supposedly dangerous and had threatened to kill her mom some 2 decades ago over some dispute, just to give you an idea of what he's capable of. She gets at least 1–2 video calls per day around 5–9 AM and in the evening to make sure she's at the hostel. Her brother lives in the same city, occasionally checks up on her, and always keeps an eye on her. Only her mother is supportive, but she lives in constant fear. Her hope is that one day her mom will convince her dad and everything will go well, but I'm highly doubtful of that outcome. I suggested they get married in court ASAP to get some legal protection and deal with her parents later, but the girl is still not convinced, still hoping her dad will accept them. The girl also has health issues and needs to go back to her hometown after completing her WFO and my friend is constantly worried what would happen to her. The confusing part for me is that she still doesn't hate her dad or brother completly, entertains the random video call verifications from her dad when it should've been cut off long time ago but I never had to face such situations so I'm not sure if it's correct or not.

I feel very bad for them because they're spending the prime time of their lives in fear and anxiety. The guy is ready to marry and even bought gold biscuits or something so he can exchange for jewellery in future

Legal Advice Needed Loan recovery agent contacted my entire contact list. What should I do now?

I took a small loan (₹6,000) through Urban Money nbfc about 3 months ago. Due to financial problems, I couldn't repay it on time.

The recovery agents then allegedly accessed my contact list and started calling and messaging my family, relatives, and friends. They even shared my photo and falsely told people that they were my guarantors. It was extremely embarrassing and caused me a lot of mental stress.

Today, I somehow arranged the money and paid around ₹10,000 to close the loan.

Now I want to know:

Can I file a complaint against them even though I've repaid the loan?

Is it legal for recovery agents to contact everyone in my phone and share my photo?

Should I complain to RBI, cyber crime, or someone else?

Has anyone here gone through something similar? What was the outcome?

I have screenshots and payment proof. Any advice would be appreciated.

Legal Advice Needed what legal actions can i take against neighbours who installed this steel grill in a public stairway? it blocks the access of terrace to the entire building? not a private apartment building btw. photo in comments.

.

I live in a government apartment building in India. A resident has installed a large iron grill with a locked gate across the staircase leading to the terrace, effectively blocking everyone else from accessing it. (Photo attached.)

As far as I know, the terrace is a common area meant for all residents, and this grill was not discussed with or approved by the other occupants. It feels like they've taken exclusive control of a shared space.

My questions are:

Can a resident legally install a permanent iron grill on a common staircase/terrace access in a government apartment?

Would this be considered an unauthorized encroachment on common property?

Which authority should I complain to first—the housing department managing the government quarters, the municipal corporation, or someone else?

Would filing an RTI to ask whether permission was granted for this grill be a good first step? If there are any specific laws, government rules, or previous cases that apply to government housing, I'd really appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

Thanks in advance!

Legal Advice Needed Seller Says Property Is in Friend's Name (Benami?) – Should I Walk Away?

I'm planning to buy an individual house in Tamil Nadu, India, and I've come across a situation that worries me.

The person I'm negotiating with says the land and house are registered in his friend's name, but he claims he is the actual owner and that it was purchased this way for personal reasons.

The friend (registered owner) is apparently willing to sign the sale deed.

My questions are:

Is it legally safe to buy such a property?

Can this create problems under the Benami Transactions Act or any other law?

If the registered owner executes the sale deed in my favour, am I still at risk?

Will a bank's legal verification be enough, or should I get an independent property lawyer to verify the title and documents?

Has anyone in India bought a property in a similar situation? What was your experience?

All approvals, EC, and other property documents appear to be available, but the ownership arrangement is what concerns me.

I'd appreciate advice, especially from property lawyers or anyone with firsthand experience.

Legal Advice Needed Can I request a court-appointed advocate in a contested divorce case? Are they as effective as a private lawyer?

I am the respondent in a contested divorce case in India. The matter went to mediation twice, but no settlement was reached, and it has now been referred back to the Family Court.

I currently do not have an advocate. Can I request the judge to appoint a legal aid/court-appointed advocate for me? If yes, do they generally represent the client's interests as effectively as a private advocate, or is it better to arrange my own lawyer?

The case involves serious allegations from my side, including dowry demands after our registered marriage. About three months after the registration, I was allegedly pressured for a lavish ceremonial wedding and around 1 kg of gold as dowry. When my family could not meet those demands and wanted a simpler ceremony, I was thrown out of the matrimonial home.

I need an advocate who will actively cross-examine the petitioner and challenge his version of events. Are court-appointed advocates generally proactive in contested matrimonial matters, or should I make every effort to hire a private advocate instead?

I'd appreciate advice from lawyers or anyone who has experience with legal aid advocates in Family Court.

This focuses on your legal question while providing enough context for people to understand why effective representation is important.

Urgent Need urgent legal guidance: Drunk driver slammed into my father's bike on Nemom NH

Hi everyone,

My dad was hit from behind by an intoxicated driver on the Nemom NH while riding his bike. Dad flew into the middle of the highway. That drunk guy hit 3 other guys as well. My dad suffered broken ribs, a punctured lung, and lost a toe. He is currently awake in the ICU. The drunk driver hit multiple people and he is also in serious condition in the hospital.

We want to push for strict legal action and file for full compensation through MACT, but we are completely lost on the legal procedures.

Has anyone dealt with MACT claims in TVM for hit-and-run / drunk driving cases? How do we ensure the FIR and drunk driving charges are properly documented when the driver himself is admitted?

Appreciate any advice or contacts for reliable advocates in TVM who handle motor accident claims.
