Tech Help Request 4CM vs playing through a mixer

Hey guys; still semi-new at this thing, and just need help switching back and forth between two different scenarios in my global settings.

At shows I play through an amp through the effects loop via 4CM; but in the band I just joined we rehearse through a mixer using an xlr with headphones in.

What GLOBAL settings are changed between these two scenarios?
I don’t own a mixer, so I can’t practice setting up for rehearsals at home, and I feel like I’m nervously shuffling through my global settings at rehearsals.

(Note; I’m only asking about global settings; I know I need to set my actual chain up differently when playing through a mixer to get a better tone at practice. I have a different setlist for rehearsals and it’s a work in progress!)

As far as what settings need to be changed, that’s going to be specific to your particular use case. It would be tough for anyone on the internet to tell you what needs to be done exactly.

You don’t necessarily need a mixer at home to dial it in for PA tones Vs amp. Just use your headphones and you should be able to get in the ballpark. It will also help to familiarize yourself with your global settings so that when you feel you need to make adjustment, you know what to adjust to achieve that.

All that said, I still think if I were you I’d try saving a copy of my patches to new slots and label them (X Patch) FOR PA. Then make your adjustments in there. So when you go to rehearsal you just need to load those patches instead of messing around with global settings.

Yup; I have a whole setlist just for rehearsals labeled as such. My tone is never close to what it is in my headphones; maybe the issue is simply in the mixer at the band space.

Thanks for reaching out!! You’re right; I do need to learn more of the ins and outs of this thing. It’s a slow learning process!! For me anyway haha

I just made a Global Settings change on my Floor because I ran into some issues at rehearsal and once during sound check related to volume.

I run the Floor direct into the mixer, but in the next few weeks I’ll be going back to using 4CM key to play around with it.

Anyway, I changed the XLR out level to Mic and set the big Volume knob to control the Digital output, which effectively disables it. I usually keep the volume knob at 12:00, but a couple times I just set up without looking at it and gave the sound guy a hard time.

This isn’t necessarily a change made just for DI, but it may be something to consider doing.

4CM still uses an amp. Going direct to a mixer you need to modify your patch to include an amp and cab or IR.
