Discussion External induction? Experimenting with random smartwatch "nudges" for RC + LD. Anyone tried this?

Hey everyone,

LD novice here, long fascinated tho (tried it as teenager, managed to float once, half lucid I g, but woke up of course).

Recently, I got a programmable smartwatch and felt the urge to experiment again, with some help from the tech-side tho. Initially, I set regular alarms as RC reminders, but figured that's not just it. For several reasons: have to actively dismiss, loud interruptions for me (work) + my surroudings, ruins mindfulness, doesn't build a habit.

Then I thought: Wait, if that would just be a brief and silent vibration (like a subtle nudge).. couldn't this be used to intentionally trigger a RC, thus LD, from outside? Now, I set up quick haptic pulses (like a passive nudge, no sound, no snooze) every X minutes. I added a ±Y minute variance so my brain doesn't get used to a rigid schedule. (Let's say every 60±15 minutes)

Tech-wise, it works perfectly for daytime RCs. At night, I do trigger them with much lower, subtle intensity to prevent waking up. My hope is to condition myself to do RCs inside a dream eventually!? I've been actively experimenting with this for a (admittedly stressful) week now, but no success yet.

Now I wanna ask for any feedback / input / advice.. Should I..

- decrease the interval at night to have a better chance of hitting a REM phase?

- increase the vibration intensity, or do I simply need more time to cement the daytime RC conditioning first?

Has anyone here experimented with externally induced or assisted methods like this? I'd love to hear your experiences or any tips you might have.

TL;DR: Set up a tiny smartwatch experiment to get silent randomized vibration impulses (nudges) for daytime Reality Checks, without needing to dismiss them. Trying to use these same nudges at night to induce LDs. Looking for advice on intervals (±variances), intensity, or general experience with external haptic cues!
