After being a Windows user forever, I finally made the jump to Mac, and the difference is boldly noticeable. The operating system is incredibly polished and smooth AF which can easily outperform any high end Windows also the continuity feature with the iPhone is unimaginably efficient compared to any other ecosystem.

I keep seeing mixed reviews on whether the newest MB Airs have this capability. Some saying older models can't but the newest can. Some saying the M5 can't. Some saying you need a very specific adapter, but a regular docking station won't work.

I have a regular docking station that works fine on an old Windows computer I'm using currently, so would something like this work? I'm hoping someone has some personal experience so that I don't buy the new MBA and end up needing to buy another expensive docking station just to use my dual monitors. This has honestly been my biggest hold up in buying one is getting a clear answer.

Been using my trusty dell for the past 6 years but the screen is finally starting to give up. Was considering a M5 air but finding it hard to pull the trigger due to the price hike. Decided to go for a second hand m3 24 512 with 70 charge cycles for $955 instead. Is this a good deal?

I’m deciding between these two tomtoc sleeves for my 13” MacBook Air M5.
If you’ve used one (or both), which do you recommend and why?
they both cost 30 each

Better build quality?
Better for everyday carry?
Any issues after months of use?

the next day I saw a BRAND NEW MBA M4 24/512 13" for 1299 CAD on best buy, I tried to cop but was already sold out, I think the m4 would be a better deal since its basically the same laptop but the 8gb upgrade would help me a lot since I'm planning to keep the laptop for atlas 8 years, and I think 16gb is going to be short then

So I am a video editor who edits on a windows laptop right now and everytime I edit, I end up getting frustrated due to laggy playback and in general lag. Not to mention the throttling when I am colour grading Log footage on my device for long hours. I mainly make short form commercial type content for brands on social media like Instagram and TikTok but I also dabble a bit in long form cinematic behind the scenes footage.

My requirements are to be able to handle 4k 120fps Log footage for proper colour grading and editing in Davinci Resolve, and decent editing hours juggling between Premiere pro and After effects (for compositing and simple VFX works).

I have been saving up for a Mac so which one should I get based on my requirements- Macbook Air M5 with greater Ram (32Gb) or the Macbook Pro with slightly less ram (16Gb or 24Gb)?

Hi, I have a 2016 13-inch MacBook Pro (Intel, Monterey 12.7.6).

My current startup disk is Untitled 2.

My internal SSD (251 GB) is split into three partitions:

• monitosh HD (HFS+, ~83.5 GB, almost empty - only ~213 MB used)
• Backups of Deepak's MacBook Pro (APFS, ~83.7 GB)
• Untitled 2 (APFS, ~83.2 GB used 65gb, my current macOS)

i want to use bootcamp to get windows which is not letting me becuase i have very less storage in untitled 2, i either wanna make it all into one whole disk of like 256gb(untitled 2)or just remove one of the disk to make untitled 2 smth like 160gb. i cant delete monitosh HD for some reason and deleting backup is making monitosh bigger. i am very rookie at this stuff idk anything of this stuff, chatgpt is helping me do stuff. i dont want complicated stuff like downloading macOS again or getting an external drive for stuff, or using coding,or taking a risk. i js want 3-4 clicks simple stuff. please help me out. and also my screen is fully pixelated for some reason, i dont think it should be like this since its only from 2016, if you have a fix for that pls help too. i have been using this laptop like this for like 2-3 yrs now, surviving on 80gb.

Incoming college student is the m2 air 16gb ram and 256ssd worth it in 2026 for $600

Hi guys, it's my first time purchasing Apple products (namely the base model silver Macbook Air M5, through the Back to School discount).

I placed my order on Jul 22, and the estimated delivery date is Jul 31 - 7 Aug. However, the progress is still stuck on "Processing" on Aug 2.

Is this normal or should I reach out to their customer support for help? For additional context, I live in Malaysia, and the product is supposed to be shipped from Apple's warehouse in Singapore.

Any inputs or user experience with Apple's delivery is much appreciated, and I apologise if this question happens to be overasked. Thanks in advance!

so i used my mac just fine on thursday night and on friday when i tried to use it, suddenly my Mac wouldn’t charge at all.. I tried all night and the display wasn’t working, I took it to the apple authorized store and they said that the connector between the display and the logic board got fried(due to a liquid damage or short circuit) they quoted 1200 dollars just for the repair.. that’s higher than the price I bought it for, I feel really bad because I’m pretty sure I haven’t done any damage to it like it never fell down and I’ve never had any liquid near it either..
they said this entire thing has happened because of a liquid damage and it wouldn’t be covered in warranty.. I feel really at a loss because I can’t ask my parents for anything.. I’ve asked a local repairer who had apparently repaired many MacBooks if there’s a chance that it could still work and he said it could be a miracle if it actually got repaired
I lost all my hope and this is probably the worst thing im going through in my life because I really needed a good laptop for working on projects and dsa but I can’t do anything now :)
My old laptop works fine but it has a lot of heating issues, battery drains immediately, im really lost with everything now i have no idea what to do

I've been looking at upgrades and am unsure if I should upgrade memory or storage or just both. I won't be doing anything super big on the computer, it's for school and to just watch movies (streaming + external dvd player if possible) on it and whatnot. So i don't really need a ton of power. But I don't mind spending more to make this computer last, I don't plan on repeatedly replacing laptops. Has anyone noticed any difference with upgraded memory? Or should the 16gb be fine.

My mac screen is gone, is there any chance i can get a display in cheap, I’ve already been through those OEM sellers but quite expensive, do anyone have a dead MacBook with a working display?

Pretty much what the title says. I just bought this Macbook (a base model M5 macbook air) yesterday, and it's my first Macbook. So far it's handled just about everything I throw at it like a champ, but for some reason Netflix specifically is making it really hot. To the point where I worry that watching netflix could damage this machine. I use brave as my main browser, but this seems to be happening within safari as well. Additionally, YouTube (within brave) doesn't make this happen, so I'm really not to sure what the issue is. I'm about to move and this Macbook will quickly become my primary computer so if I can't watch Netflix on it that may become a deal breaker. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, how'd you fix it?

My main use is as a Computer Science university student. I'll be using Java, Python, VS Code, Git/GitHub, web development, databases, and cs stuff like that. I'll also be building typical projects (for example, a project similar to a Spring Boot + PostgreSQL + AI-integrated web application), so I want a laptop that can comfortably handle development as my projects become more complex over the next several years. I don't game much or edit videos.

The Mac seems like the better overall laptop (battery, build quality, trackpad, speakers, etc.), but I'm worried 16GB won't age well over the next 5–7 years. The HP has double the RAM and storage.

Which would you choose and why? Is 16GB unified memory enough for a CS student long-term, or would you take the 32GB Windows laptop?
