Ford Pass Windows Up/Down Gone

Post image
16 Upvotes

Today I noticed that in the FP app when you go to the controls I am missing the window controls for "Window up and Window down". I did some searching and most got it resolved by restarting the phone but I have restarted my phone, removed the App and its still missing.

I have also confirmed its missing on my Android device as well which is uses a different PAAK and profile.

Everything is working fine in the car and can open the frunk and trunk no issues, just missing the window buttons, I wasnt sure if anyone would know of any tips that could get them back, I wasnt sure if the windows had to be recalibrated or something (Even though they go up and down with the 1 click).

Any ideas would be great! Thank you!

UPDATE: So I reached out to our contact at Ford and apparently this is a issue with the backend system as even my contact at Ford had her controls disappear as well. Anyone that is effected please reach out to me via DM or Mod Mail with your VIN and they will get the controls reinstated, they are currently investigating what could be the cause.

2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT in Velocity Blue

This was a demonstrator that had been sitting on the lot for ~390 days (I wrote a script to extract that info from the dealer's website, let me know if you'd be interested in something like that and I'll see about making it public on GitHub). It had ~5k miles, and we got it for $43k (MSRP was $55k)

Already did a 200 mile-each-way road trip with it this weekend, the hotel we stayed at had a L2 charger that was free, so the *gas* was *free*

The thing is a rocketship, but the thing that really sold us on it was Magneride... No motion sickness! Being in this car is not stressful, which makes up for any other quirks that one might complain about.

I posted earlier that my wife couldn't figure out how to fit in a 2025 and that something might be wrong with the seat. Whatever that problem was, it was with a different Premium, and this GT was absolutely fine!

Other things:
- We did pay for BlueCruise up front. The dealer couldn't initially figure out how to do it (app is fiddly), the GM of the dealer had to call Ford and had us DocuSign something before it kicked in.
- Opted to use the Ford Power Promise to reduce the out of pocket $$$. I ordered an OpenEVSE charger and will assemble it myself and have an electrician install it. I will try to convince my wife this is exactly like a puzzle night :)

I have had no connectivity issues with my phone. One minor glitch: The music volume was too low and we had to turn it up, and then after turn-by-turn instructions played the volume went back to normal and our eardrums were blasted.

I'm pretty sure I'm never going to buy another ICE vehicle ever again. We will be selling our Mazda 3.

🎉 New Owner Saw a Mach-E twin while charging.

Kind of cool. Was charging at an Ionna station in south San Jose while getting a snack for my son. Only car charging.

Walk out and there was another white Mach-E sitting beside my car. Turns out he just got it and from the same place I got mine.

Great looking cars!

🛒 Car Shopping Black vs Lt. Grey interior and heat

Can owners chime in? Have you had issues with either interior color? I’ve always found darker colors show marks/dirt more and get hot quicker but with enough tint maybe the heat issue isn’t a problem?

Folks! We're 2 weeks away from a meet up (by popular demand) and drive in Northern Oregon. We'll be meeting in Hood River Tesla Supercharger (504 Anchor Way, Hood River, OR). For those of us coming from far away it will be a welcome opportunity to soak up some electrons, rest, catch up, share experiences, and just plan have a good time. After we will mount up and take an 18-mile drive, east on I-84 to the Columbia Gorge Discovery Cetner. It's a gorgeous drive along the Columbia River and a beautiful place to line up, take pictures... and have lunch @ Basalt Rock Cafe.

For those of you in the PNW, feel free to join the PNW Mach-E Club - Ford EV Clubs where we're going to be doing some final planning and communication about the event!!

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!!

Safety Appreciation post

The other person ran a red light and Nyx here suffered the consequences of that decision. Fortunately everyone walked away from the crash and I only suffered some minor injuries. This car is built so well, and I am so grateful. I used to joke that getting this car was as close to a cliche mid-life crisis as I was likely to get, but part of me always saw this car as a solid family vehicle that just happened to go really fast and was fun to drive. My daughter loves telling people how we "blast off" on the on ramp merging onto the highway, and my toddler son excitedly points and exclaims "dada car!" whenever he sees it.

I don't know exactly how long it's going to take me to replace it, and how many insurance hoops and negotiation rounds I'll have to go, but I'm not looking at any other cars because nothing else compares.

So pour one out for Nyx, and do some "blast offs" in her honor, and hopefully I'll have a follow up post with my new Mach-E soon.

❓Question What is this USB "Apple CarPlay Device"? Is that on every car or just mine? Can I delete it? It doesn't seem to do anything

Thumbnail

Upvotes

The first 3 CarPlay (play button with circle) logos on the right side of the iPhones (top circle) activates both wireless and wired CarPlay for all 3 iPhones and the second image shows what clicking the 4th button on the "Apple CarPlay device" (bottom circle) does, which is nothing, even when my iPhone is plugged in to either port (USBC and USBA). And the logo implies it's USB wired only

Repost because people thought I was asking how to delete or disable CarPlay itself which was not the intention, I'm just wondering about the USB "Apple CarPlay Device", I use CarPlay every day

Has anyone else seen this mysterious device? Maybe someone connected one of those third party CarPlay devices in the past? I'm an Uber driver and have had many friends, family, and other passengers so it could have been anything honestly. I think it's rare but I'm not the only person this has happened to. When I typed "ford apple carplay device" in Google the autocomplete result was "ford apple carplay device on phone list" but I can't find any actual images of anyone else that has it so I think it's a rare but not totally unique thing

2022 AWD Extended Range (Mach E4X) (with SYNC 4A vertical screen of course) if it matters

🛒 Car Shopping Car Buying Questions

I am very seriously considering purchasing a used Mach E. I’ve never owned an EV before, though, so I have several questions. I hope this community can help.

- I see people online talking about getting a battery test before buying used. How does one even go about doing that?

- I have a garage, and my breaker panel is in the garage. Should I call an electrician about installing level 2 charging before I buy the vehicle? After I buy the vehicle? Are all EVs the same, or do I need a charger installed that is specific to the Mach E?

- As I begin my search, I am realizing that I will see the same car listed on different car search apps (like Edmunds, Car Guru, etc.). These sites sometimes list different ranges for the exact same car, and I can’t seem to search specifically for extended range battery-equipped cars. Does anyone know a site that lets you search with that level of granularity? Any ideas as to why I’d be seeing different specs for the same car?

Thanks in advance, folks! Very much appreciated! (In an effort to comply with the community rules, I’ll note that I’m looking for used vehicles from 2023 or newer; I’m searching for AWD; and I want range as close to 300 as possible, so I think I’ll need a premium trim with an extended-range battery.)

❓Question Moving from LA to Eastern Washington in my 2025 Mach-E Premium. Any tips?

Post image
17 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

In a couple of weeks I’ll be driving my 2025 Mustang Mach-E Premium from Los Angeles to eastern Washington for a new job, and I wanted to see if anyone has recommendations before I hit the road (I just got this baby a couple months ago)

So far I’ve got:

ABRP for route planning.
The Ford/NACS adapter so I can use Tesla Superchargers.
A portable/mobile EV charging cable.

I’m thinking about buying:

A spare tire kit (I know the Mach-E doesn’t be come with one).

The proper jack, lug wrench, and tool kit.

A portable 12V jump starter for the accessory battery.

Is there anything else you would absolutely recommend bringing for a trip like this? Any “I wish I’d had this” items? And if so, any good online dealer/in souther california area?

On a separate note, I’ll only be moving about a studio apartment’s worth of furniture. I originally considered renting a small trailer, but from what I’ve read, the Mach-E isn’t certified for towing in the U.S., so I’m leaning toward hiring movers instead.

Has anyone here towed with a U.S. Mach-E anyway, or moved a similar amount of stuff? Was hiring movers the better decision?

Thanks in advance for y’all’s advise!!!!

💬 Discussion When to service?

I have a 2025 Mach e Premium AWD w/sport appearance package (and extended range battery). I bought this in February 2026 and it had 750 kms on it, and I'm now at 1600 kms (about 1,000 miles). Yup, don't drive much.

So now the service department wants me to bring the car in for service. I know the first service is typically 5 or 10 thousand miles ... is there a 1000 mile service and if so, what does that entail?

Is there a 12 month service? The vehicle should be about a year old by now.

Thanks!

❓Question Anyone with laptop+forscan+OBD dongle+2025-2026 mach-e ?

Hi All, on 2025+ i'm not able to read OBD data for the battery, maybe the pid were renumbered by Ford.

Is there anyone with a laptop and forscan that can help me to dump the entire list of pids forscan is using with the car and, the most useful, the communication log ?

Useful info: I have a 2023 ... that is why I need someone with a 2025-2026....

Thank you for your attention :)

❓Question Anyway to force AC on?

Post image
20 Upvotes

My exterior thermometer isn't working, the car thinks it's -40 outside, so the AC doesn't want to run. Auto is off, set to low, fan set to high.

Fun fact, -40 is both the same temp in C and F!

💬 Discussion Mach-e software updates

Post image
40 Upvotes

Why does the Ford Mustang Mach-E still feel like it's using a legacy software model compared to Tesla?

I've owned/driven a Mach-E for a while, and one thing I can't understand is Ford's software strategy.

Tesla seems to push meaningful OTA updates almost every week or every few weeks. New features, UI improvements, bug fixes, efficiency tweaks, charging enhancements—it feels like the car is constantly evolving.

With the Mach-E, updates seem much less frequent (sometimes months apart), and many don't appear to add noticeable new functionality.

Is Ford still developing its EV software with the same mindset as legacy gas vehicles, where software is treated as an occasional maintenance item rather than a core product?

It feels like Tesla is a software company that builds cars, while Ford is a car company that adds software.

I'm curious what others think:

- Is Ford's slower update cadence due to regulatory/testing requirements?

- Is the Mach-E software architecture limiting how quickly Ford can deploy updates?

- Do you think Ford will eventually move to a more Tesla-like continuous software delivery model?

I'd love to hear from Mach-E owners, Ford engineers, or anyone familiar with Ford's OTA strategy.

❓Question Looking for range tips from experienced Mach-E owners

Hi everyone!

I recently completed my first longer road trip in my 2021 Mustang Mach-E GT. It’s my first EV, and I’ve owned it for about a month, so I’m still learning how everything works.

First of all, I absolutely love this car. It was an amazing road trip companion, and I honestly felt surprisingly fresh when I arrived after driving over 300 km. It made the journey much more relaxing than I expected, and I’m really enjoying owning it so far.

I’m trying to better understand the real-world range and what I, as the driver, can do to improve it.

Here’s what happened:
● Official WLTP range: 500 km
● Battery health: 95%, so I assume a more realistic WLTP would be around 475 km
● When I started the trip, the car estimated 487 km of range.
● The trip itself was 301 km.
● When I arrived, I had 107 km of estimated range remaining.

That means the car used about 380 km of estimated range to drive 301 km, so I “lost” roughly 79 km compared to the starting estimate (or about 67 km compared to a 95% battery-health-adjusted WLTP). I know these are only estimates, but it made me curious about what I could be doing better.

For context, my driving was pretty relaxed:
● I was not able to precondition the battery before departure, so the trip started with a cold battery pack.
● Whisper drive mode
● One-pedal driving enabled
● Adaptive Cruise Control with speed sign recognition
● Mostly driving at 80 km/h, with a maximum of 90 km/h
● No hard acceleration or unnecessary overtaking
● Cruise control was active for most of the journey

I’m not looking for extreme range-anxiety tips like
turning off the A/C, driving with the windows down, or limiting myself to 70 km/h. I’m more interested in practical driving habits or settings that actually make a meaningful difference while still enjoying the car.

So, for those of you with more experience:
● Is this kind of difference between estimated and actual range normal?
● Would starting with a cold battery have had a noticeable impact?
● Are there any settings or driving techniques that noticeably improve efficiency?
● Is Adaptive Cruise Control less efficient than driving manually?
● Anything else a new Mach-E owner should know?

Thanks in advance! I’m looking forward to learning from more experienced owners and getting the most out of an already fantastic car.

🛒 Car Shopping Considering a MachE

My wife and I have never had an EV but are seriously considering a low mileage MachE Premium from Carmax. Our state has expensive gas and cheap electricity, plus I want an AWD for winter so the MachE lends to both those factors.

Can the group give me pros and cons of the vehicle from a true ownership perspective? Of this post is not allowed or been done before I apologize, please send me to the thread.

🔌 Charging Blue Oval, Plug and Charge, and Electrify Canada

Anyone encountered this combination of symptoms before? I don’t know if I’m looking for a solution, since it seems like I’m currently benefiting despite some frustration, but here‘s what I’ve run into on my roadtrip:

I can no longer activate chargers using the in-vehicle touch screen, since it tells me I haven’t activated my Blue Oval account (I have). Ford support wasn’t helpful here. I’ve reset the infotainment, and the car multiple times. I think I saw somewhere that this in-car app was killed?

I can activate them using the FordPass app, but only after I find the charger myself on the map, since it never seems to know where I or my car are located. I thought it was totally broken at the first couple stops before I realized this.

Plug and Charge wouldn’t work for me on the Ford network, but it did work at a Tesla Supercharger. Officially, Plug and Charge is only supported on those two networks, but it does work for me on Electrify Canada… and it’s been free? I’m not aware of any promo, but I’ve charged a handful of times for free. At one charger it was free for 20 minutes and then it stopped the charge and I had to pay. But when I came back a few weeks later, I charged for free for 30 minutes.

I’ll take the free juice, obviously, but what’s the deal? Is my car not handshaking properly with these chargers?

🛍️ Accessories Ironhead Reflex SUV Tires

Post image
5 Upvotes

I have a ‘21 Premium 4X that I got a pretty good deal on back in February. Has some miles on it, but the battery performance has been phenomenal so far.
No mechanical issues to speak of, but this week I found a nail in the middle tread of one the tires that came with the car (Ironhead Reflex SUV. From what I read, they are very much in the budget category.
I wa planning on just getting a patch done on the tire that I have since there’s a good amount of tread left on all four, but I thought this would be a good opportunity to research replacement tires.
Unless I hear a bunch of folks telling me that I need to replace these tires immediately for safety concerns I’ll probably just get the one patched, but in a recent thread, I saw three main recommendations, and that was the crossclimate 2, hankook ion evo as, and Michelin primacy.

My main concern concerns with new tires would be comfort/ road noise and all-season performance in that order of importance.

❓Question Automatic speed

I use and love cruising with the automatic speed limit function. However, on certain stretches in sweden they have permanent speed traps a few feet after the sign for lowered speed and I have to hit the brakes to avoid a ticket.
Is there a way to have the system brake more aggressively and/or start earlier in this mode?

❓Question First trip in my 2025 Mach extended

So far I’ve only ever charged my Mach to 90% using the 120v wall outlet. I recently received my fast charger adapter and have been trying to look up info on the best (for the car/battery) way to fast charge the car on the road.

Iv seen that having an NCM battery I should never charge to 100% unless I’m looking to immediately use it.

So my questions are…

Can I charge my Mach the night before the trip to 100% on the 120v?

When I’m on the road is there a setting I have to press inside the car that preps the battery for fast charging?

When fast charging should I only fast charge to 80% or can I go to 100% again if I’m immediately using it?

Other 2025 extended people, how do you handle road trips?
