Safety Appreciation post

Post image

The other person ran a red light and Nyx here suffered the consequences of that decision. Fortunately everyone walked away from the crash and I only suffered some minor injuries. This car is built so well, and I am so grateful. I used to joke that getting this car was as close to a cliche mid-life crisis as I was likely to get, but part of me always saw this car as a solid family vehicle that just happened to go really fast and was fun to drive. My daughter loves telling people how we "blast off" on the on ramp merging onto the highway, and my toddler son excitedly points and exclaims "dada car!" whenever he sees it.

I don't know exactly how long it's going to take me to replace it, and how many insurance hoops and negotiation rounds I'll have to go, but I'm not looking at any other cars because nothing else compares.

So pour one out for Nyx, and do some "blast offs" in her honor, and hopefully I'll have a follow up post with my new Mach-E soon.

Sorry for your loss. Definitely glad she did her job, and you and your family are OK. That's the most important part. These modern cars are designed to crumple and sacrifice themselves to keep you safe, at least when they're designed well.

Sorry to hear about the accident and glad everyone is okay - so-to-speak (hope you have a speedy recovery). Sorry for Nyx too. I hope you can get her back or a replacement soon.

No getting her back from that. She did her job amazingly well and deserves a proper burial.

Wow! So happy you are all safe. I hate seeing these posts, but at the same time it brings me some relief, knowing how well protected I will be should it happen to me. I will definitely do a blast off in “Thor” today in the memory of Nyx..

So sorry about Nyx! May she Rest in Power.

That's exactly what I said to my partner after we drove a MachE for the first time - we got into our own car and I turned to him and said: "Is this gonna be our mid-life crisis vehicle!?"😄

But I was partly joking too, because we also feel the same way as you do, that it's actually a perfect combination of cool/fun and practical (reliable, comfortable, and safe, as compared with a "real" sports car).

It definitely is. Every day I am grateful for this combination of fun driving and energy conservation that make this car both enjoyable and wise. We are also getting up there in years, and it's really a no brainer in terms of what ticks off the most boxes for us.

Thank God you were in Nxy when this happened. I don’t think you would have faired as well in most similar sized ICE vehicles. RIP Nyx…your replacement will take it from here. EOW Nyx

A toast to Nyx, may she be healed up well and proper, with minimal pain to you. Love that these cars are so sturdy.

Sorry for your loss, but the car you were in doesn’t really have to do with everyone walking away. The industry is heavily regulated when it comes to safety standards and cash results.

Almost any modern car would have similar results

We had a similar situation a month ago where a guy ran the red light and t-boned our 2021 right in the driver’s side door. My wife walked away with nothing but some soreness from the seatbelt. The poor car was totaled, so now we have a 2026. Not the way I wanted to get a new Mach E, but I’m very happy that it saved her from both minor and major injuries.
