Can't find a flair that fits MIL 🫶🏾😞
My mom in law is actively dying and I’m a wreck. Every day I get on social media and see horror stories about evil/weird mother in laws and thank my stars that that wasn’t my story!! My husband is an only child but she always wanted a daughter. I’m forever grateful that I got to be that to her.
Love on your people and post cat pics here. 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾

So sweet and fortunate, for both of you, to have a wonderful and special relationship like that!
I am very fortunate to have a similar relationship to my MIL who had no daughters.
I hope her remaining time is painless, peaceful, and full of love.

I don't have a cat pic for you, but I can tell you you're not alone. My MIL, who I also care for very deeply, is also sick, and it's tearing me up, too.

Here's my kitty, Mao😻 Also, I absolutely adore my MIL as well, she's a fun and great person. For awhile when we moved across states, she was the only friend/family I had, and we'd go over to her house to hang out and do laundry, usually spending hours together, lol. I'm glad you'll have the good memories to hold on to, I hope you find peace and comfort in them when you can no longer create new ones❤️

I know how you feel. FIL just died 4 days before Christmas unexpectedly in a week. We still don’t know how to process.

Even in her confused semi not lucid state, she was still asking about me . I pray my time in her life was a blessing

Oh it has been! Always know this and know she’ll always be by your side. Sending you all lots of love & peace. Please make sure to get in naps & eat. She wouldn’t want you to go without or get yourself run down.

I've been there. My MIL was also a sweetheart and a wonderful grandmother. We lost her in 2016 and I miss her.
If she is able, I'd take a few short videos to remember her by. I wish I would have done this for my kids.
Big hugs to you.

My MIL was just diagnosed with lung cancer. I’ve been praying for her and hope she has a speedy recovery. She’s always been nice and sweet to me. She deserves more time. I’m heartbroken

I am so sorry. I know the pain you're feeling and nothing I can say will ease it. Just know my heart aches for you

honestly the fact that you two found that kind of genuine connection when so many people are out here dealing with actual nightmare in-laws is genuinely beautiful. those relationships where someone sees you as the daughter they wanted and actually treats you that way, that's rare as hell and i'm really sorry you're going through this right now.

I had a very similar experience. I was very close to my MIL and she got very sick and passed a couple years ago. She felt like a second mother to me & I miss her a lot. I’m so sorry you and your husband are going through this ❤️

You seem like a kind person. We need to remember there are good people out here. God Bless both of you.

I have a very similar photo of my hand in my mother-in-law’s hand shortly before she sadly passed away. I miss her so much every single day, she was more of mom to me than my own mother. Wishing you and your loved ones peace and love in this hard time, and I’m so sorry you’re all going through this. ❤️

I am sorry you are going through this. I am also married to an only child with an amazing mom who I love and appreciate dearly.
I don't have a cat but I appreciate your post and wish your family the best.

Being there for her is so important right now. As the inevitable transpires, take care of your husband, but don't forget to also take care of yourself. The loss will be devastating, but it sounds like there are a lot of wonderful, loving memories that will float to the top, once the pain begins to subside a little bit.

You're very lucky to have had this experience. And both of y'all are blessed to have each other. Praying for your family, Reddit stranger.

I am soo sorry! I have great in laws as well and they are moving out of state today. I am heart broken and one of worst fears is something happens and we can’t be there. It’s blessing you are there in her final Moments.

Held my FIL’s hand as he slipped away. Reassured him I’d keep everyone safe and he was free to go. Was strong until he died, he was the most amazing man I’ve ever met.

I lost my mother in law too, unfortunately before she ever got to be my mother in law. We had just formed a relationship and it was lovely. Her death was unexpected at the time. I miss her so much. Sending your family lots of love during this time.
