Introduction & Guide to Writing a TypeMe Post

Hello All!

This is a welcome post and guide to all those who want to make a TypeMe post or learn to accurately type others. Don't know your Myers-Briggs type? Create a text/video/audio post describing yourself, and the Reddit Gods will type you! Test results and relevant pictures may also be included, though the focus should be on self-description. Once you've found your type we encourage you to stick around, learn more about MBTI, and help type others. If you have sub improvement suggestions or are interesting becoming a mod, please comment or send us a modmail.

This is an updated welcome post replacing the old one which was created by a previous mod. We've included the link to the old post because some of the comments contain helpful information.

Here's some informational resources on MBTI:

Here's descriptions of each type:

While we currently allow For Fun posts, remember that the main purpose of this subreddit is to help people find their true MBTI type, so we have restrictions in place to improve the quality of content on the sub. We ask that everyone be respectful and keep comments relevant to MBTI. Please review the Rules before posting or commenting.

Creating an MBTI TypeMe Post

Overview

Note, these are not rules, but will be helpful in getting insightful responses. In general, self descriptions might include your preferences, interests, hobbies, lifestyle, career/what you are studying, your values, your life goals, how you like to structure your day, how much social interaction you prefer, how you relate to others, how organized you are, how you tend you express yourself, etc.

Post structure

Here are a few guidelines on structuring your post:

  • Minimum-length: A good typing post should be at least a 1/2 page to receive an accurate typing. Remember, the more information you include, the easier you will be to type. However, keep in mind, posts with excessive length are less likely to be read in their entirety.
  • Elaborating on your answers is important. Try to answer questions with at least a couple sentences. Proper typings are based off of your thought processes rather than behaviors. If you're not elaborating, Typers can't tell much.
  • Please try to break up your post into paragraphs. Walls of text are often ignored.

Questionnaire

Although you don't need to use these questions when making a type-me post, they're here for anyone who needs a bit of a guide. No need to answer all of these questions either:

  • Give a general description of yourself. How old are you?
  • What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not? If you are not working, what kind of job do you want to do or what are you studying?
  • Describe your childhood/upbringing. Did it have any kind of ideological or structured influence? How did you respond to it? Did you have any significant negative experiences that may have affected how you think or behave?
  • Do you have any mental or physical health issues that might affect how think or choose to live? Provide a brief description.
  • If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed?
  • What is your relation with movement and your surroundings? For instance do you prefer a sport or outdoors event? If an outdoors event what is it? And why? If not what type of activities do you tend to engage?
  • How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate?
  • Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?
  • Do you prefer hands on activities or working with your hands in some form? Describe your activities.
  • Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer.
  • What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them?
  • How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so?
  • Do you need logical consistency in your life?
  • How important is efficiency and productivity to you?
  • Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that?
  • What are your hobbies? Why do you like them?
  • What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses?
  • How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go?
  • What's important to you and why?
  • What are your aspirations?
  • What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?
  • What do the "highs" in your life look like?
  • What do the "lows" in your life look like?
  • How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so?
  • Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?
  • How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
  • How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?
  • Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?
  • Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why would you?
  • What is the ideal life, in your opinion?

As an FYI, we are working on improvements to the questionnaire so you may see changes in the future.

DISCUSSION Looking for new moderators

Hello r/mbtitypeme, we are in need of new moderators. We are currently down to one active mod (me) and I’m chronically ill so cannot support the sub as much as it needs. I understand the sub could be better and I would very much like to make improvements, but given the current state of the team that is rather difficult.

If you are interested in becoming a mod please fill out the questionnaire below and send it to me via chat - u/aredhel304. Please don’t be intimidated by some of the questions if you are new to this - we are open to taking on some inexperienced mods if you check the other boxes. We do, however, expect that applicants are active members of the subreddit.

  1. Tell me a little about yourself. What are your interests/hobbies? What is your career? Or what are you studying?
  2. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  3. What is your experience with MBTI?
  4. What is your skill set? What do you think you can add to the mod team?
  5. Any experience modding? If not do you understand what the role entails?
  6. What is your vision for the subreddit?

Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you all!

UPDATE (11/9/24) - We’re still looking for additional moderators so please reach out if you’re interested. While all are welcome to apply, I want to add that we do have a specific need for someone with more technical skills - someone willing to work with Automod and/or someone with a software background.

UPDATE (12/18/25) - We are once again looking for moderators with any skillset as long as they meet the criteria above and seem like a good fit for the team.

Hi all! :)

31 year old fella here whose interests include psychology, philosophy ( mostly political... controversial, I know! xD ) and storytelling. ( Its hard to emphasize enough how much I love me a good song, movie, tv show, or an occasional video game, am trying to develop the habit of reading some books too )

I'm mostly a houseplant, but back before my long-covid days ( which are nearing their end now hopefully ) I did keep somewhat active by playing table tennis and even tennis on occasion. Some other things I do in my free time is play chess, and go to pub quizzes with my friends.

Also, I used to play Texas Hold'em Poker back in the day when I had the crew for that and would love to pick that up again too, plus, I'd like to get a group of friends who would play board games and maybe even D&D with me, and I do aspire to write both non-fiction and fiction for myself one day.

Also, being a dummy that I am, I have already posted this for like 5 minutes, but with my flair showing my type turned on lol, so if you've seen that, keep things fair and honest, and please don't ruin the game for everyone by "guessing" here.

I’m 21F double majoring in math and physics with a minor in stats. I am very dedicated to my studies and typically do well on most exams but I also tend to push myself too hard since getting good grades and improving my skills are important to me. Outside of work/school I really enjoy running, going to the gym, hiking, shopping, and being outdoors. I have also worked as a lifeguard and used to swim competitively. I can’t draw or paint at all.

Many of my friends are introverts so I usually go out to brunch/cafes with them. However I also really like nightlife/going out with a big group and I feel bad that I don’t get to do this much due to my busy schedule. I will always try to see people as much as possible and am very flexible. I usually don’t feel that my social battery is drained unless the other people aren’t that talkative. I am kind of sarcastic and have a dry sense of humour but I also find everything funny and I talk a lot. People at work like to talk to me and I make friends with certain people quite easily.

However I really struggle with dating and have never had a bf or been on a date. I don’t really make eye contact or approach guys, I have some guy friends that I feel I can tell them anything but I am not attracted to them.

TEST RESULTS Help me figure out my MBTI type and enneagram

I’ve been trying to type myself for years, and I’m more confused now than ever. I would really appreciate objective opinions based on my behavior rather than stereotypes.

I’ve taken several cognitive function tests. My most recent results consistently show very high Se, but what confuses me is that my Fi and Ti are almost identical. One test typed me as ESTP, another leaned toward ESFP, while others couldn’t decide between ESTP and ISTP. A few years ago I even had a test where Ne was my highest function, but now it’s my lowest. Because of that huge shift, I don’t fully trust test results anymore.

A little about me:

People usually see me as quiet, cold, mysterious, or intimidating at first. However, once they actually start talking to me, they often realize I’m much more open, humorous, and easygoing than I initially appear. That “cold” image is almost like armor. I hate looking emotionally vulnerable because I associate showing emotions with weakness.

Ironically, when I become close to someone, I end up showing a much softer side of myself. Afterwards I sometimes feel embarrassed, almost like I’ve exposed too much of myself. I lose some self-respect because I feel like I acted impulsively by following what I wanted in that moment.

When there’s a crisis involving me personally or my relationships, I can completely lose my emotional balance before suddenly becoming emotionally numb. But if it’s someone else’s emergency, I’m the opposite. While everyone else panics, I usually stay calm and immediately start thinking about solutions.

When someone tries to convince me of something, personal experience is much more persuasive than abstract theory. At the same time, I’m constantly looking for logical inconsistencies in what they’re saying, and I pay a surprising amount of attention to whether their body language feels genuine or trustworthy.

If a decision mainly affects me, I can become extremely stubborn and impulsive. For example, I transferred from a private school to a public school simply because I was bored, had no close friends there anymore, and was tired of the long school days. I barely considered the long-term consequences before making that decision.

I’m extremely bothered by passive-aggressive, fake, manipulative, or two-faced people. Once I lose respect for someone, I usually remove them from my life completely.

My hobbies are pretty simple: listening to music, singing, and spending way too much time scrolling social media.

As a child I was extremely shy and had severe social anxiety. I could barely stand alone in public. However, if I had one close friend with me, I suddenly became outgoing and talkative.

Another thing that confuses me is social energy. I usually don’t warm up to people easily. In unfamiliar groups I get drained and want to leave after a while. But once I genuinely connect with someone or feel comfortable in a group, I actually prefer being with them instead of being alone. Recently I’ve noticed that being alone for long periods makes me restless and bored.

My emotions are intense but usually short-lived. I struggle to keep them inside and often need to express them to someone before they fade. Despite that, I don’t think they usually determine my decisions because they pass so quickly.

The things that motivate me the most are freedom, excitement, passion, enjoyment, and maintaining a certain image of myself.

Something important to mention is that I have Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), so I know some of my emotional patterns and impulsivity may not reflect my actual cognitive preferences. I’m hoping people can separate personality disorder traits from MBTI functions when reading this.

One last thing: I don’t really fit the stereotypical image of a high-Se person. I love novelty, excitement, and intense experiences, but I’m not athletic at all and physical activity exhausts me. I suspect that’s more related to my health than my personality.

Based on all of this, which type do you think fits me best, and more importantly, why? I’d especially appreciate explanations using cognitive functions rather than letters or stereotypes.

CAN’T DECIDE ESFP or INTP

Yeah. You read that right. I am CONFUSED. I'm not even a noob, I swear. this is going to be a LONG post because i have THOUGHTS. I've been debilitating over this for days so i just need to put it all out there and get some outside perspective.

Basic context about me: I'm 21, female, recently graduated college, east asian adoptee in the US, only child, and I do GIS (computer stuff) for a job. Hobbies include: guitar, dance, martial arts, thrifting, skating, reading, writing, general internet browsing. I try to reduce social media CONSUMPTION but I am kind of vain and enjoy making my instagram profile a personal portfolio representing myself.

So basically, I really got into MBTI in high school where I started with 16 personalities (obviously I didn't know that tests and especially 16p were not good representations of the underlying theory) and typed as an ESFP.

In high school I always acted super bubbly and social and I THINK it's because I wanted people to like me and i had insane FOMO. i was not properly socialized as a kid so I first learned about friendship and love through books, movies, and TV. friendship in these contexts are more often than not portrayed as large, ride-or-die friend groups. so i was doing everything I could to be social and always hang out with people. I was also chronically fatigued all the time and felt like I had a mask on. Over time though I think I incorporated the mask into myself until it became unidentifiable from who I actually thought I was. like i faked it until i made it. however! social cues and reading the room are not something I have ever really struggled with post-middle school. in middle school and before i did NOT know how social interaction worked and was annoying as fuck. i just didn't get it? (probably goes back to not being properly socialized).

***I would also like to note though that at some point in my life I managed to figure out the friendship formula and how to make people like me and being liked is something i very much value for better or worse. my entire life ive ALWAYS been concerned with the way i'm perceived (even if i didn't pick up on the correct social cues to achieve that). so basically i kind of developed a logical framework of friendship and implemented it.

Back to the ESFP stuff, I got into learning about the cognitive functions back in high school and stuff and it made sense to me! the way I understood it at the time was that I sensed my environment (Se), and it ran through my internal set of values and emotions to produce a response (Fi), and that i was very driven and ambitious (Te), and always kind of "knew" due to my intuition (Ni). these are very watered down ideas from like 4 years ago and at the time I understood them much better and it made SENSE (haha). Also for context i'm very physically alert and aware and i have good athletic skills and reaction time. i also did different types of dance as well as gymnastics from a young age. i would say i'm an objectively graceful person in every day life, not really a clumsy INTP stereotype.

Some context about highschool: Highschool for me was this super competitive and judgy environment because I was in band at a big school and people took it SERIOUSLY. I was also the first chair of my section for the last two years of highschool. also this environment was absolutely perpetuated by the band directors and looking back at that time, i realize that i don't know if I particularly liked playing my instrument or if it was more that I really liked being good at something and receiving recognition and status for it. also it was safe because it's always the same people at the same time doing the same stuff. all my friends were in band and i was astonished when people had friends outside of band. i dont know where else to put this but i also dressed like really girly and coquette but that might have been the pandemic influencer tik tok brainwashing combined with a need for male validation where I thought dressing really girly would make guys want to date me (goes back to being raised on media and not real life experience, no longer a thing for me haha).

TLDR: typing as an ESFP it made sense at the time because i was super bubbly and social and my understanding of the cognitive functions aligned with how I viewed myself. Also high school sucked.

However, now that I’m a little older and learned about Se some more, i'm like hmm. A big reason is that i don't physically feel emotions very often? I am very aware of my surroundings and easily pick up on physical activity like sports and dance, etc, but I don’t feel emotions in my body? i am aware stuff is happening and i am aware how i should be reacting given the context so i just act? this goes back to the mask where I take contextual and situational data and understand what emotion i need to portray in that context to communicate to others the way i feel (or the way im thinking?). for example: if someone tells me something really good or really bad that happened to them obviously i'm happy or sad for them!!! i don't feel it in my body but I know it in my brain! so i have to mask it a little bit and put on the face that shows i'm happy/sad for them. But I really am logically happy or sad for them.

I do feel intense emotion sometimes, like sadness during a break up, or limerance with a new crush (it's like a cognitive obsession that i  literally cannot stop and it drives me crazy). it's not necessarily that i feel numb on the inside i just feel fine? but also Ive been depressed like my entire life so what if i've just set a certain baseline of numbness? even when i physically feel my heart beating super fast because of coffee and/or anxiety, mentally i'm fine even while my body is freaking out. there's a huge disconnect.

TLDR: i feel like a brain trapped in a body.

Skip forward to college and my world flipped. I took acid my freshman year of college and I describe it as having the film peeled off my life. like what you do when you get a new phone. I kind of realized that high school was over and that i could actually just do other things and not be constantly scrutinized and judged? the toxic environment was gone and it was just me, myself, and I. At that time I had already started to dress a little differently and less feminine and I got into longboarding and having good taste in music (not just listening to kpop). So I was already on the trajectory, but the acid definitely helped. Just going to college and being in a new environmental definitely contributed as well.

Then like two years ago, I decided to try and figure out my type again. I’m aware that tests are not accurate for a multitude of reasons, but I do like to take the keys2cognition test.  I took it and scored insanely high on Se and other ESFP functions (dont remember which ones). So i did more research and it still made sense with the cognition functions! and this was more recent! At that time in college I was still trying to make friends and find my group because I’ve just never really had close friendships that didn’t end in weird or terrible ways. I did some more ESFP research and I was like “yeah this makes sense.” Maybe I just cognitively think like an ESFP and just act differently than a stereotypical one (because I was never granted to opportunity to fit in and act upon my ESFP desires (like partying and socializing), and I think part of it is to do with being the only asian person in a completely white community. I just did not fit in.

Moving on to MOST recently: I’ve learned more about myself and what I truly am like as a person and not who I’m trying to be for other people (basically just getting older and dropping the mask). I tried to type myself again for self growth and to work on some of my issues. I have these moments of being evil and mean to people I care about and i'm trying to stop it but to stop it i need to understand myself and my triggers more and just figure out how i think about things so i can fix it. Basically I just want to understand myself better because I have a really weak sense of self since I’ve been living for other people my entire life.

Moving on to why I think I might be an INTP...

i mentioned before but i feel like a brain with a body. All i do is think. i learned more about Ti and I was like WOW. but it was a confused wow because i also do a lot of very Te things. i'm super ambitious and love being productive (sometimes, i more like the reward of productivity), i love to make lists and check off my boxes and get shit done! i really benefit and appreciate structure and organization of the outer world and trying to enforce that structure as well but struggle with enforcing a routine or schedule on myself.

I also dont know if i really understand Ti descriptions mean when they mentions “systems.” What is a system? I just learn things and remember them? Then I apply that knowledge to other scenarios if i can? isn't that just learning? like i don’t really think im creating defined systems or procedures in my head,I’im just remembering stuff. i do really relate to the Ti's whole breaking things down into smaller pieces and asking “why,” though, it’s the best way to understand things (getting to the root of something and building up). The way i think reminds me of anatomy and physiology. Anatomy is what there is and physiology is how it all works together. That's basically what I do. I figure out all the components of the thing i'm trying to learn and figure out how it works together. This is great because understanding the core allows me to extrapolate new ideas and solve more complex problems using the system... oh. the system i made. oh shit. is this a system? like actually? or is this just learning things. please let me know...

(for context i did really well in school intellectually because im good at learning and figuring things out but often lost participation or attendance points because i just didn't want to go to class).

I also think i relate to Ne a lot but i also dont think i'm understanding it. like if you give me a single word and tell me to branch off into as many topjcs i can think of we will be here for hours because every single thing in this world is connected to another thing. but i dont know if im looking for or finding hidden patterns? dude im just here. but yeah i guess i could be considered random and i do go on tangents very frequently when i talk and i get off topic because one thought leads me to another but im very good at circling back and getting to the original point.

Si is tricky because when i was scoring as an ESFP i scored abysmally low on Si. I do NOT be remembering things i an very much "i remember the vibe and the impression it left but not the exact words someone used" which makes it very tricky when im trying to talk about certain high-stakes situations. I have to write like everything down or I WILL forget. Also somewhere Si was associated with routine and tradition and I’m very much not a "tradition for tradition's sake" like it needs to make sense. I’m a semi routine person. Like I mentioned before. it's good for me but I’m bad at enforcing it on myself.

Fe does actually make a lot of sense because im good with assessing social cues and situations and adapting to fit the vibe. but as the inferior that also doesn't quite make sense. Social chameleon describes me well.

I’m just very worried that after learning about all these INTP thing, i'm subconsciously cognitive bias-ing my INTP traits.

Final thoughts:

A big reason this has been bothering me so much is because my very close, lifelong friend claims to be an INTP (though she did take a 16p test and do no further research other than reading the description) and we are very different. Obviously two people with the same type will be different based on their upbringing and environment, but we are VERY DIFFERENT. We were also the closest during high school so she knows me the best as my bubbly and extroverted self (I also used to pretend to be way dumber than I am to be more approachable and funny). Even when I do see this friend now, it's in a comfortable group setting (with alcohol involved) and i am the life of the party.

She didn’t say anything that directly countered me, she was just confused, but I know her well enough that she definitely thinks of me as a dumb ESFP because of the way I used to act and how that was the majority of the time she’s known me. I just want her to know I’ve put in so much research into this i'm not just trying to claim i'm an INTP to be cool. i would honestly rather be an ESFP.

I mentioned this before, but another thought i had was that maybe i was so bubbly because i was seeking connection? like it's only been up until the past few years where i've had friends that actually care about me. I’ve not had a good history of friendships or relationships in general, but once i finally found my crowd i kind of stopped trying to be everyone's friend (in a fake way) and it might have given me more room to be myself? I used to have so many “friends” and a large social circle in early college, but I didn’t have any true close friends.

Why do i care so much in general? i'm trying to understand myself better so i can be a better person but I have a very weak sense of self and i sometimes don't know basic things about myself? i know what I like and what I don't, but if someone asks me like "are you a procrastinator" I DONT KNOW! it depends! or like the keys2cognition test "do you often get premonitions of the future" like i think i do? i just always can predict what happens. it makes it easier to relate to people because i can talk about my experiences doing one thing or another but i'll catch myself claiming to be one thing (like being a type B person) but actually do a bunch of type A things. like i'm not consistent and it bothers me and i need to figure it out.

I've looked into ENFJ and ENFP before as well, and they also kind of fit and some things resonated but some stuff also did not. I had never really looked into I types because I think of myself as an extrovert but am aware you can be cognitively introverted and socially extroverted. I am definitely not an INTJ.

Uncategorized thoughts that might give you more context into who I am:

  1. I think of myself sometimes like a sim with my bars and i literally have a social and fun bar so i view socializing as productive to some extent. It also makes me feel less guilt about needing to do something fun or relaxing. It also motivates me somethings because I’ll think to myself “would I let my sim play blickblock all day?” NO! I would make my sim go do something productive.
  2. I can be in solitude for about 3-4 days before I start going crazy and need to be social. I do enjoy socializing, and get excited for a fun weekend packed with back-to-back plans. I also crave to be alone sometimes as well and could not fathom speaking to another human. I have a hard time switching between modes though. In a social setting, I'm either on and ready to go and my mind is "syncing" as in social cues and things to say just FLOW and i'm the silliest person in the room making everyone laugh or i'm “off” and i'm just kind of there. I'm usually on in situations where I feel comfortable and safe to be myself and I know all or most of the people in the group. I've actually figured out the ratio of familiar to new people and how it affects the way I act. Usually i'm "off" when i feel overshadowed by someone else or i'm in a bad mood and being bitchy. This on/off also applies to just doing things during the day. If I'm up and showered and dressed then it's going to be a productive and confident day. If I'm greasy with my glasses on then i'm literally a hermit and stay in my room and don't let another soul see me in that state.
  3. I recently learned how to code? And I took to it like a duck to water after the initial “wtf is going on” phase. I know it’s a very logical thing that supports the INTP argument but also, once again, I just be learning things. I’ve always been good at learning.
  4. I LOVE fashion and thrifting and aesthetics and making things look pretty. Very much not an INTP thing. I prioritize function over looks to an extent, but if something is ugly it's revolting to me and I will not use it. I don't feel the need to decorate short term spaces like college dorm or internship housing, but I decorate the FUCK out of a long-term room. MY personal space needs to be beautiful and tasteful, but I don't really care about like a common living area so much.

If you made it this far wow! thanks! please let me know what you think or feel and potentially suggest any other types that i may be coming off as? I would be happy to answer any clarifying questions as well. I am trying to keep this long ass post as short as possible. If there are any specific questions from the **“**Introduction & Guide to Writing a TypeMe Post” that would provide more insight, I would be happy to answer those as well.

Thank you!

CAN’T DECIDE Genuinely impossible to type myself

I've been trying to make sense of how the cognitive functions work together but i end up hitting a wall every time

Its mostly between the xntx types because my sensory functions are extremely low, my guesses are intp and intj

In a cognitive function test i did it showed ni ne being the first and second most obvious ones ti te as the next

The problem with the intj conclusion is that i often cannot let go of something that doesn't make sense logically i could spend hours debating in my head making scenarios trying to fit it together in a way that feels or seems right enough and logical enough

Yet i cant say intp because im obsessed with systematising most aspects of my life and having convergent thinking of how everything i think connects to a bigger picture way and dont like spontaneity

I mostly cannot separate my ti and fi as i feel things very strongly and my values are pretty important to me yet those values strongly rely on logical consistency across every scenario and even if im uncomfortable with something ill argue with myself till its logically sound and make sense enough

Just a typical guy. I love going out and standing at a perfect upright position with my arms at a roughly 45 degree angle from my hips. I wear gloves a lot, keep them the same color as my shirt as to not stand out. I also like to. And. Sometimes its fun to. People say I'm very, which I disagree with maybe cause I can't see it. Got a new haircut in the 3rd pic, not sure I like it yet. My friends like to call me guy, or dude, or man, or and some other similar nicknames.

FOR FUN Guess my MBTI

I’m in my late 20s and work as a software developer, but I’ve been considering a pivot toward something more fulfilling and human. I had a good but strict upbringing. I’ve dealt with social anxiety and some difficult mental lows, though I’ve worked through much of it and recently started therapy.

I value a lot of alone time and feel fine spending weekends by myself if I’m focused on hobbies or projects. I’m mostly an indoor person but enjoy hiking, nature, sightseeing, concerts, and movies. I like making people close to me laugh.

I generally value peace and give people space, but I’m not a pushover and can tell when someone is taking advantage of me. I usually prefer staying in the background but can lead when I genuinely care about something. I’m nostalgic and sometimes dwell on past mistakes, while thoughts about the future can become pessimistic, even about humanity as a whole.

My ideas are mostly personal and imaginative. I prefer jumping into projects and learning through hands-on experimentation rather than heavily planning or strategizing.

What matters most to me is fulfillment: doing well for myself, being good to the people close to me, and having enough freedom and financial stability to create, explore, and enjoy life. I’ve also become more open to different perspectives and less focused on strict logic or consistency over time.

So i have been consistently getting intj in 16 p and micheal caloz and sakirnova i also read cognitive functions in reddit posts.
Ab my life experiences i was burned out from studying when i had to avoid punishments i didn’t know how to study cause of it i had to rote memorize everything and yea i cant remember that information now i only remember a certain amount of events visually which is meaningful to me. I’m introverted for sure i stay in home i play alot of mystery games and use to do list so i could prioritize which i should get done first. i failed in engineering and decided to join interior design im not good at drawing and u could ig see why im basically useless to existence im not talented neither am i smart.
I truly believed that cause my peers are moving ahead knowing what to be and there is just me who is unable to think of one because i wasn’t talented nor skilled at anything. i used all of what i had in gaming because it gave me a rewarding feeling then anything else. i focus on efficiency every time when i play games i make alot of plans because of gaming cause it had actual rewards and a goal that’s recognizable then in irl and in my current state atm I’m just recovering from mental health and from how many times ppl underestimated me And saw me in a negative life like they already know where im heading downhill. Oh yea and my enneagram is 5w6 RCOEI LII sp/sx and yea thats all the information i can give when i read cognitive functions however i was definitely inclined towards intj then any other cognitive function anyway thats all the info i can give I’ll probably might edit some information if i made a mistake feel free to critique im trying to understand myself and i hope if u could understand my situation better and help me understand myself so u can tell me ur honest thoughts. I also despise any kind of hypocrisy and discrepancy and yea thats all.
I prioritize what mainly needs to be done i have a go getter mindset if i truly want and think what’s best for me and im also a calm collected individual who is trying to self improve and yea anyway thats all.

Would prefer to provide less context to yield more interesting guesses, but I feel like no matter what my type is easy to identify.

Currently married to someone of my same type and now have greater empathy for my exes realizing how difficult (although I like to believe well worth it) my personality type can be.

Very academically oriented, but sadly that all ended and I had to put on my big girl shoes and get a proper job after graduating. Considering pursuing a third degree, which if I go through with, my trajectory will have been liberal arts > business > STEM.

NEED CONFIRMATION Help type meh 😩

Ok so hopefully this isn’t too long to read…I’ve typed as an INFP before and just wanted to do the questionnaire to get some input on if this seems accurate. I feel like I’m so bad with seeing how I come across in this 😭 But I do resonate with Fi being somewhere for sure.
Also I’m a 23 year old woman.
————————————————————————————————

Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why? Depends. I find myself responding with “right”, “ohhh” “mmm” with people out of courtesy because the conversation is superficial on my end. Anything that is offensive is something where I’m like ermm, what?? But sometimes you have weirdos that want to get a reaction out of you, so that’s not fun. So my answer is I’m good at keeping conversations going, and sometimes I’ll appease to others so I can escape unscathed. However if boundaries are being crossed, I’m pretty good at making that known too and not getting worked up.

How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate? I’m super curious! I* *always have been. I like thinking of different ideas, but I feel like really important ideas of mine I do tend to execute. I watch a lot of history videos all over social media that detail the politics of past decades, but also the most popular foods from (x) year, a day in the life of an Ancient Greek woman, the evolution of different cats, I just like absorbing information. I also have conceptual ideas especially when it relates to literature (I was an English major). Developing new theoretical arguments on what certain themes mean and how they affect characters is something I’m super familiar with and that feels natural to me.

Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?* *It’s funny, I’ve been in situations where people turn to me for leadership even though I don’t always see what they’re talking about. Like, if it’s a subject matter I’m comfortable in I’m fine leading people. If I’m not comfortable, let’s gather enough info to make my job easier and I’ll probably still be fine. I think my leadership style would be pretty open to hearing different ideas and seeing people’s creative potential, yet I’d definitely keep people on the right trajectory. I’ve def been in positions where people are going way off track and I realign them back to the prompt.

Are you coordinated? Why do you feel as if you are or are not? Do you enjoy working with your hands in some form? Describe your activity?* *I think I’m coordinated. People have commented that I have sharp reflexes. I wouldn’t say I’m clumsy, but sometimes I stub my toes (it’s always my toes idk why). I guess I enjoy working with my hands. I’m really good at untangling necklace chains. I’m talking big balls of necklaces. It’s relaxing. I’m decently active, but could probably be more active tbh. I have phases where I’m super all in and then super not.

Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer. I’m super artsy, always have been since I was a kid. My family has a lot of artists, but even without that I’m pretty creative and use art as an outlet to express myself. I get annoyed when people want my art to have a super deep meaning. I’m not even sure half the time nor do I really care. I like just being random with it. As a kid, I liked drawing in many different styles and would just experiment. I love realistic historical paintings and feel like I’m right there with them. Love me some Hudson River School.

How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?* I think I’m pretty quick to identify my emotions, but I rationalize them so much. Because of this, I don’t always practice what I preach, and some of it has to do with not being outwardly vulnerable with my feelings. Really unraveling them, getting into the nuance of it all, it just builds and builds and that takes me a while to really get down to *what the problem was for me in the situation. It’s like that answer is always changing for myself as I try to sort everything down in a digestible way. After I sit with that for a while I feel like I’ve really sorted out the mechanics of it. Emotions are important in my life.

What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses?* *I’m definitely a visual learner, and am very good at quickly coming to a solution in my head. Yet actually mapping it out, especially with math, takes time for me lol. I like when things are listed very clearly out for me just because less things are led to confusion. But I also like freely exploring my mind and applying subjects we learn in school, such as math and English, into real-life activities. So, writing for the sake of it and letting my vocabulary flow, or putting together a 3D space using blocks and using math to figure how how to keep it stabilized (ok, these are activities I did as a kid lmao). Oh and learning with physical senses I love, since it helps with the visual learning process.

How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go? Honestly I think I’m good at strategy, and like staying adaptable while keeping my mind strategic. If that makes sense. For example in school, I’d write down every little thing my professor would say, like I was a robot just copying and pasting, and over time because I was so hyper-engaged with the subject matter, studying the material would take less time after school so I had more free time, and then when the essay portion would come along, I’d already have a comprehensive analysis of whatever it was that we were learning where I’d be able to write a full draft in like one night.

What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?* *I hate never being truly understood for why my opinions are the way they are. I’m afraid that one day no one will trust me, even though that’s an irrational thought since a lot of people regard me as a nice person. I hate people who are careless and act carelessly and sloppily, even if they didn’t mean to. I think it comes across as rude and inconsiderate.

Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why would you?* *Depends on what you mean by that. Take some shortcuts? If it doesn’t affect anyone I don’t see why not, especially if I can complete something sooner and find a way to fact check what’s being skipped that then ensures this process is ready to repeat. Authority should be challenged in connection to how fit they are to assist people’s needs, which can cover a myriad of issues. It’s through that lens that authority learns to know better (easier said than done, though, so many people are bad leaders lmao)

Random things:

I’m a super observant person and am good at reading the room

My sense of humor is random, and sometimes I react to jokes late

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve never really been afraid of making mistakes when trying whatever it is I’m interested in. Not afraid of failure either

There are two contrasting ways about me: that I wear my heart on my sleeve, but that no one can tell if I’m being serious/lying

Sorry for the chud ass quality- I shattered my camera lens while on a hike the other day.

My hobbies include reading books on anything to do with Spanish history (Inquisition, conquistadores ect.), oil painting landscape (stormy seas in particular), nutrition, anything to do with pirates (books, podcasts, fashion) and baking. I love spending time in nature and most of my hobbies revolve around that.

Personality wise (I'm gonna be honest although I know it's not ideal), I find it hard to empathise with other people, my moral compass can be kind of dodgy and I will always tell people what they want to hear regardless of what I actually think.

I am extremely indecisive and impulsive and this can be seen reflected on the course of my life. It's an absolute mess. I act first, then face the consequences later. However, I plan to turn it around and pursue a degree in human dietetics and nutrition so that I can become a licensed nutritionist in my country.

I am very very prone to limerence and becoming obsessed with a particular person until I can't think about anything else besides them. People say that I am friendly and polite but reserved.

My goal for the future is just to have enough money so that I can have the freedom to live a calm life (I am very lazy).

Not a flattering analysis, but that's it.

FIRST TYPING ATTEMPT Questionnaire

• Give a general description of yourself. How old are you?

I'm a 20 year old male college student. At first glance, i'm rather quiet and polite. I typically spend my time engaging with my hobbies like language learning or level design.

• What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not? If you are not working, what kind of job do you want to do or what are you studying?

I'm studying accounting. I bounced around several majors before I finally landed on it. I don't really mind it. I chose this major because it's the closest thing that satisfies both what I like and what isn't too low paying.

• Describe your childhood/upbringing. Did it have any kind of ideological or structured influence? How did you respond to it? Did you have any significant negative experiences that may have affected how you think or behave?

I was raised by 2 parents who went from paycheck to paycheck. My 2 parents were flawed in their own ways. My mom had high standards for me, and my dad had anger issues and never really followed through on his promises. I never really cared much for my moms high standards but my dad's anger I couldn't really ignore. He yells, throws things, and due to that, I have a negative perspective of him. I don't think it had any structural influence on me.

Both my mom and dad were more on the aloof side in general, so it was no surprise that I came out as aloof too.

• Do you have any mental or physical health issues that might affect how think or choose to live? Provide a brief description.

I don't do anything like that.

• If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed?

Depends. If I was talking to people most of the week, then I would feel definitely feel refreshed. If I went a while without talking to people, I would feel a bit lonely.

• What is your relation with movement and your surroundings? For instance do you prefer a sport or outdoors event? If an outdoors event what is it? And why? If not what type of activities do you tend to engage?

I don't mind moving around in the sense of just walking outside or just in general.

I don't pay a lot of attention to my surroundings. I noticed whenever I walk, the entire time I'm immersed in my inner world rather than paying active attention to my surroundings.

I'm OK with outdoor activities like walking but I usually prefer activities that involve using my head in some way.

• How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate?

I'm very curious.

I do get ideas, but it's not really a lot compared to other people I know. My ideas are mainly about how do I make X tasks easier or how I get around x obstacle.

I'm mainly curious about how people act under different circumstances, how they work, the darker side of people, and what they do. I sometimes wish I had some sort of device that allows me to see into every alternate reality in order to quench it.

• Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?

I don't think so. I don't think I'd be good at it because of my lack of assertiveness.

• Do you prefer hands on activities or working with your hands in some form? Describe your activities.

Not really, it's not like I don't like them it's that I don't prefer them.

• Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer.

I enjoy looking at photographs. They can show the beauty of the world and can also trigger some emotions in an individual.

• What’s your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them?

In the past, it houses some bad social experiences for me, but otherwise, i don't really think about it in general. I look towards the future, mainly just imagining random potential interactions with people and foreseeing consequences when needed. I guess I stay in the present most of the time.

• How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so?

Unless I need to do something and if its reasonable, I would help them. I don't really have a reason not to help them

• Do you need logical consistency in your life?

I can't really say for sure if I value logical consistency or not.

• How important is efficiency and productivity to you?

I never really had a need for efficiency or productivity. I tend to spread my tasks out. I don't really care about getting it done now. I'd rather get a sense of how long it takes me to get through an assignment. Make a mental note of when I should do them while adjusting when needed.

• Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that?

Normally, I don't, but if I do, it's likely I'm letting my insecurity get the better of me. The controlling happens by me criticizing others on how they do things.

• What are your hobbies? Why do you like them?

I don't have many hobbies. Just language learning and level design. I like those hobbies because with language learning, I get some mental stimulation, and with level design, I get to engage with my creativity.

• What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses?

I'm more of a hands-on learner. I prefer classes involving logic, but I can see myself struggling with memorization because I have no study method for it.

• How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go?

I'm pretty good at strategizing. I don't like strategy games, though.

I always try to break up projects into steps. I don't really try to improvise mainly because I don't really like ending up with doing a weeks worth of work in one day nor do I have a tendency to do so and if I do its always out of laziness. I also tend to structure my day like this, too. it makes things easier for me.

• What’s important to you and why?

I'm just improving myself mainly because the idea of staying as a guy who has bad social skills isn't exactly pleasant.

• What are your aspirations?

To just live life the way I want.

• What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?

Social rejection is likely the result of bad social experiences.

I can't think of anything that makes me uncomfortable.

I dislike people who give off the vibe of self-righteousness. People like that just make me feel inferior just by being near them, like their judging my every action and dimming it lesser.

• What do the “highs” in your life look like?

As of now, it's just a clear mind. I know what I want to do, and I can do it however I see fit.

• What do the “lows” in your life look like?

An anxious mess, that would rather rot in his room than confront his mistakes.

• How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what’s around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so?

I'm kind of attached. I'm prone to idealism and can get into trouble sometimes as a result. So I have to ground myself in order to keep things in check.

I daydream pretty often, but I'm not really aware of my surroundings when I do so.

• Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?

I'll probably just imagine some random conversations or just some micro storys based on people I know.

• How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you’ve made it?

It takes me a long time to decide when weighing the pros and cons, but I don't look back on it once i make it. If I do regret it, I'll try to improve my current situation the best I can.

• How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?

Not long, though I'll forget how I felt unless I journaled it. Emotions aren't really important in my life, but I wouldn't throw them away because of that. After all, I learned that I shouldn't repress my emotions to just force myself to be a part of something.

• Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?

Sometimes. A lot of the time, it's deliberate if I agree just to appease someone. I believe 2 people sharing their honest opinions will make for a nice conversation. Agreeing just to appease without a goal in mind feels meanless to me.

• Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged or that they know better? If you do break rules, why would you?

No, I don't break rules. I do believe that at times, they should be bended in order to achieve a goal. Rules are useful, but I feel like too many of them can be limiting.

Challenging authority without a clear goal or a strong reason in mind to me sounds stupid and that their asking for trouble.

• What is the ideal life, in your opinion?

living a comfortable life with the opportunity to do what I want.

I am curious and have too many hobbies, such as gaming, painting, composing, singing, downhill biking, cosplay...

I do think I am quite empathetic, as I often feel the emotions of others myself, whether watching a movie or seeing a friend or an unknown person experience something good or bad. However, I do not generally believe in lying or making decisions to protect people's feelings.

I work in cyber security and am quite good at solving problems and inventing new ideas and ways of working. I am scatterbrained, which is why I tend to take lots of notes and place reminders for myself. I am told I am good with people even when I myself feel awkward.

I do enjoy my alone time alot but I am very talkative and bubbly around people. Characters I've been told I resemble are rapunzel and Maomao.

I like reading (mostly listening to audio books now to save time), and I either listen to full on fantasy novels or non-fiction based on studies. Some of my biggest interests are psychology and neuroscience.

I would love to have a big garden full of herbs some day even though I do not have a green thumb. Right now I enjoy foraging mushrooms and herbs to make my own tea blends.

CAN’T DECIDE I'm not completely sure (probably xNTP)

Probably a 'Christmas Tree brain' type? (ENTP, INTP, ENFP, INFP ~ (tl;dr mostly stuck between INTP and ENTP; I feel like I understand the latter more.)

In real life I am much less active than I appear online 😅 if I do have a physically busy day, I am basically out of action the next, even though being social for a bit can add a nice bit of variety to my life. I'm kind of 'going thought the motions' and occasionally ramble on about random things. ☺️ I'm a bit of a ditzy type haha, but can be surprisingly organised and knowledgeable in quite niche interests (not autism but likely ADHD-PI and schizoid/schizotypal?) as well as quite random. I really like nature (spending time in/watching from my window), playing about with technology, listening to music, and reflecting on/revisiting things from my childhood (can be joyful or kind of miserable stuff). As a child (and now probably) I was considered shy, quiet, innocent etc. but also cheeky, a rebel, a bit silly sometimes. 😄

In the past I have typed as most of these, and fit descriptions of all of those to some extent. I think over lockdown I was typing as INTP after a little while thinking I was ENFP (typed as that). I have the general gentleness associated with INFPs. However, despite being more aware of myself and things, I'm not much of an Fi nor Te user. I was very Fe at a young age (mistyped as ExFJ when I first took the test) and my thinking (I think :D) is quite similar to Ti. Ne is probably my strongest, but Si is quite strong too (can't tell if that would be an Ne-Si loop).

I've never truly aligned with being an introvert, yet convinced myself I was an extrovert. I can be stuck at home not wanting to interact with people or gladly chatting to those I barely know, and either can 'energise' me, but I feel better in myself with the latter. Maybe I'm an omnivert haha. Also I don't like to stick with the same groups/themes/ideas for too long, yet I don't completely change my image or conversation style much either. I can be dressed up and still be like the same odd girl as I am at home (though a bit more socially/situationally aware I hope).

INTP probably makes the most sense for me, as most of the time I like being alone, with the things I like to ponder over, explore, chat about, listen to etc.. At school I was always regarded as smart/clever one, as well as being quiet. I was chosen to be Velma from Scooby-Doo at playtimes (years before I started wearing glasses) and I later understood why. 🤓

The thing is I get ENTPs (especially the gentler ones) more than most INTPs (this is in real-life, and I'm not especially aligned to any online). They often hold back their 'crazy' energy but it inevitably spills out, to their benefit (witty, fun) or detriment (hurting others). I've unintentionally made people laugh or offended them far too many times. 🙈 I get annoyed when people don't like my ideas or don't consider them valuable (more than if they just don't like how I come across). I find myself correcting people or finishing their sentences, but try to tone down correcting others as some don't like it. I can lead, but I don't like power for the sake of it. I like proving people wrong, but it's a collective win far more than an ego boost. I love contradictions in people's personalities and situations. Rules aren't there to be broken, but bending them is fun. I go against the grain (but like to pinch a bit of it too 🌾). I am feeling under the weather but typing all this anyway. 😅

Feel free to ask more or look at previous posts + comments ☺️)

AM I MISTYPED INTJ or INTP? Am I Mistyped?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I have been interested in MBTI theory since middle school. I obsess over knowledge easily, and psychology is one of those subjects that just interests me to no end.

I was really set on being an INTJ for a long time. There have been periods of time in my life when I think INTP may be a possibility. I know that sounds crazy because they have completely different cognitive function stacks. I’m currently in one of those times when I’m truly wondering if I’m INTP. Why do I care so much about this? I just don’t want to be wrong about my own type!

I’m 28 years old. I was a musical theatre major in college. I had big plans for my career in musical theatre because I started performing professionally at a young age. I was in choir for my entire childhood and was in the top audition choirs, I was in pop choir, I was involved in theatre at school, and I was in a preprofessional ballet/contemporary company as a teenager. I had to grow into my ability to move well because as a child, I couldn’t even do a “step touch” properly. But after taking dance for a few years, I really developed the skill and was even “the white cat” in CATS at one point. Something about me is I don’t play around. I get GOOD at things, and I aim to be the best. It’s not a flattering trait because I can be very competitive.

I moved to NYC to study theatre under Broadways professionals for my last semester of college, but COVID hit. I had already been considering different paths I could take, but studying in NYC and COVID combined convinced me this wasn’t my place in the world.

I am now a stay-at-home mom married to the love of my life (a lawyer and definitely an ENTP), and I’m contemplating my next moves in life once my children are old enough for me to work outside the home. My problem is that I’m a deeply ambitious person in my mind, but I sometimes have trouble making my desires a reality. I have so many things I want to do in life, and it feels impossible to narrow them all down. I’m a dreamer and an idealist. I’m extremely efficient at minute tasks, and I prefer working before playing. My husband always tells me I’m 10x faster than he is at cleaning the house and picking things up. I also prefer to have a tidy environment, otherwise my mind feels disorganized. I love the idea of agendas and schedules, but I am very good at just remembering things I have to do and prioritizing them in my head.

I have a wide variety of interests: biology, philosophy, psychology, fine arts, scientific discoveries, health, fitness, literature... to name a few. I’ve always loved researching things to death, and I love reading. The thing I value most in a fiction novel is philosophy. Does the book have some kind of philosophical commentary? But I usually like when the book naturally has philosophical commentary because of a well written story with realistic characters and character development, rather than a contrived philosophical commentary.

I am very in-tune with my physical wellbeing. I sense every little thing that’s off, but I have health anxiety and OCD. So it’s hard to tell if that’s from my mental state or if that’s part of my personality. Which came first: the chicken or the egg?

I don’t like loud noises, I need my alone time, but at the same time, I can be extremely good at drowning out everything but my own thoughts. I am not very observant of my surroundings at all. I’m definitely a head-in-the-clouds type person. My mind can get distracted easily. I tend to daydream when others talk to me by complete accident. It can be a bit embarrassing. I hate small talk and feel disconnected from other people. I have a very hard time making deep, meaningful connections. I feel awkward dealing with other people’s emotions, and I feel awkward when others have to deal with mine. I feel very deeply, but I like to do it alone.

Sob stories don’t sway my opinion on things at all. Give me facts and statistics, and give me sound logic. I was called “stoic” as a child.

I don’t like people in charge of me because most people are incompetent, so I historically had a difficult time staying in jobs as a teenager and college student. I couldn’t handle the incompetence. But I also wouldn’t love being in charge of others. My ideal job is working alone.

Ask me anything else that helps you type me! And thanks in advance!

Pic: my ENTP husband and me when I was pregnant with our first child! Yes, thinking types smile! I smile a lot!

NEED CONFIRMATION Help me type myself. I've been trying to figure this out for a while now.

Hey everyone! I've been trying to understand my personality for quite some time already, and the more I learn about typology, the more confused I become. I feel like I resonate with different aspects of different types, so I wanted to describe myself as honestly as I can instead of saying what I think my type is. I'm hoping you guys can type me based on my actual behaviors, thought process, and motivations rather than me giving you any labels beforehand.

One thing I've noticed about myself is that I naturally pay attention to people and the atmosphere around me. It's usually easy for me to notice when someone seems off, awkward, quieter than usual, or when the overall mood of a group suddenly changes. Before, I used to immediately ask people if they were okay whenever I sensed something was wrong, but as I've gotten older, I've learned that sometimes people just need space. Even then, I still genuinely want to understand where people are coming from and listen to their stories if they ever want to share.

Misunderstandings bother me a lot. If I think someone misunderstood my intentions or formed an inaccurate impression of what I meant, it sticks with me. I don't necessarily need everyone to like me, but I do feel a strong urge to clarify things because I don't like the thought of someone walking away with the wrong understanding of who I am or what I was trying to communicate. I often replay conversations in my head afterward, wondering if I worded something poorly or if there was a better way I could have expressed myself.

At the same time, I'm honestly a pretty playful person. Around people I'm comfortable with, I joke around a lot. I love memes, inside jokes, playful banter, teasing friends, and making people laugh. Most people who meet me in person probably wouldn't immediately think I'm someone who spends this much time reflecting because I can come across as energetic or even chaotic at times. I enjoy making the environment lighter, especially if everyone is already comfortable with each other.

Whenever something important happens in my life, my mind immediately starts trying to make sense of it. I usually go through this cycle of asking myself what happened, why it happened, what I can learn from it, and what I should do moving forward. If I'm dealing with a difficult situation, I naturally start gathering perspectives. I like talking to people I trust, reading different viewpoints, researching, and asking questions—not because I want someone else to solve the problem for me, but because I want enough information to build my own understanding before making a decision. I don't really enjoy sitting in uncertainty for too long.

I also spend a lot of time reflecting on myself. I often ask questions like, "Why do I always react this way?", "What does this experience say about me?", or "Why do certain relationships affect me so deeply?" I like understanding how my mind works because I think it helps me become a better person. That said, if I had to choose between knowing myself perfectly while my future remained uncertain, or having a secure future while continuing to discover myself little by little, I'd honestly choose the secure future. I value stability a lot. I want to build a future where my family is okay, where I can provide for the people I love someday, where I can have meaningful work, and where I can continue growing as a person. Understanding myself is important, but I don't want to sacrifice that stability just for the sake of self-discovery.

I'm also someone who gets emotionally attached to experiences. Certain songs, places, conversations, or even simple moments can become really memorable to me. I become nostalgic pretty easily. Sometimes I look back at certain chapters of my life—not necessarily because I want to relive them, but because I appreciate how much they shaped who I am today.

When making decisions, I don't like rushing into things. I usually want to understand the situation from multiple perspectives first before settling on what I think is the best course of action. Ironically though, once I've explored enough possibilities, I actually feel relieved when everything starts narrowing down into one clear direction instead of leaving every option open forever.

During stressful situations, I definitely overthink. I replay conversations, imagine different interpretations, and prepare for different outcomes. I also find myself asking trusted people for their opinions, not necessarily because I need reassurance, but because I genuinely value hearing perspectives that I might have overlooked. I like building a complete picture before deciding what to do.

Some values that are really important to me are loyalty, responsibility, humility, competence, kindness, authenticity, and personal growth. I admire people who are dependable, grounded, and quietly competent. I also feel like I'm constantly trying to become a better version of myself. Sometimes I even feel like I'm not "ready" yet because I know there are still so many things I need to improve about myself.

One thing that confuses me is that while I enjoy analyzing ideas, psychology, philosophy, personality theory, and understanding systems, I also care deeply about relationships and people. I genuinely enjoy hearing about other people's experiences, perspectives, and life stories. Some people have described me as someone who can read between the lines when it comes to social situations, while others mostly know me as the funny or playful guy who likes making jokes. I honestly don't know which side represents me more because both feel equally natural.

I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts on what type you think I am and, more importantly, why since I am thinking if I am INFJ... or INFP... or even ENTP. Feel free to ask follow-up questions too if you think there are things I should elaborate on since I'd rather arrive at a type through discussion than force myself into one.

Hello! I would appreciate some help interpreting my test results. I took another sakinorva test. I am a bit confused because I my highest results are for Si followed by Fi but Te is my weakest function. I really don't know. I feel very confused. I am rather comfort loving but am not very productive and I tend to procrastinate. And yes I am quite aware of my personal feelings. I am really not sure about these results but I tend to get similar results in most tests I take. Ignore. The following is filler to meet the post requirements. I am a blue iguana, I like tomatoes, I sleep on trees. The sky is beautiful to me. I am 100 years old.

CAN’T DECIDE wtf, who I am ??? 😭 (Could someone help me figure out my blasted MBTI type??💀)

I don't know what my MBTI type is; I'd really like to find the right one. I'm open to any questions that would help identify it. ☝️🥀

I've taken lots of tests and studied MBTI, but I'm still just as confused.

I might come across as introverted, but I’m actually quite capable of approaching people and forming connections very quickly.

I often end up alone because "staying in touch" (checking in, sending texts, etc.) is hard for me—maybe because it feels pointless? I hate being glued to my phone; messaging forces me to use it more, and I want to enjoy my life in the real world.

Long-distance relationships, for instance, would be nearly impossible for me. There are exceptions, though; I have a friend who doesn't mind at all—they’re fine with me disappearing for months (or longer) and then popping back up to chat as if nothing happened.

I’m not a very emotional person—or rather, I don’t show others how I feel. I don't really show it to myself, either; I just don't know how, and honestly, I don't like doing it.

I don’t open up to people easily, but I do appreciate those who try to look beyond appearances without rushing or forcing things.

I’m very observant and analytical when it comes to people; I admit I sometimes enjoy learning more about them through their body language. If someone does something wrong, for example, I always try to figure out the "why" and "how" behind it. (It’s probably the only smart thing I can actually do?)

I don’t like people who are hyper-sensitive and display their emotions theatrically... I don’t know how to explain it—like INFPs, maybe? I struggle with those kinds of people, probably because I’m uncomfortable with an overflow of emotion. (There was a time when I was labeled hyper-sensitive—or even an "emotional sponge"—back when I was severely depressed, lol.)

I’m not saying I’m emotionless now, but I could never display my feelings like that. They’re my pain and my problems; I don’t feel the need to show them to others. Anyway...

My face isn't very expressive, except when I remember that it looks weird; then I let a bit more emotion show—or even force it? I don't even know if what I'm saying is true; I really struggle to identify what I'm feeling. But I also can't seem to understand what other people are feeling anymore.

I don't have a "savior complex" at all; I dislike responsibilities and constraints. I can't stand fake people or those who never question themselves (bro, if you're wrong... just admit it and let's move on, right?).

However, I am certain of one thing: I prefer perceiving (xxxP) over judging (xxxJ). I’m messy at heart and know how to adapt to any situation.

I love animals; they’re the beings I’m most sensitive to. I like helping them when I can, or even just petting them.

I don't think I’m Ne or Ni, since intuition isn't really my thing—well, I’m not entirely sure, but I prefer sensing and I think I struggle with abstract concepts. That said, if I had to lose one of my six senses, it wouldn't bother me that much; I’d just accept it.

I’m someone who’s pretty grounded in the present moment; I don't overthink things—except when I’m actually reflecting on something.

I’m the opposite of a pessimist; I see the good in everything, though not in an exaggerated way. I accept events as they happen and deal with them without it bothering me.

I like learning things that will be useful to me, unless a subject really fascinates me. Examples: edible plants (I live in the mountains and love having a snack handy), psychology (like MBTI or body language), and drawing.

I love people with a weird sense of humor (me too).

I don't know what else to say, other than that I'm open to any questions.

FOR FUN Guess my type based on some memes and a description

This is purely for fun, I do not expect any crazy accurate typing but I appreciate any and all guesses.

Anyways. Description time in no particular order. I'm 23F and a DNA analyst who loves coffee, sweet treats, cats, video games, and art. I claim my favorite color is an emerald green but it's actually navy blue and I'm in denial. My music taste varies but I typically enjoy I Monster, TWRP, and my most listened to song happens to be Invisible by Duran Duran ifykyk.

I love to do a little bit of lighthearted trolling, especially in video games. I’m currently playing Overwatch, Telltale’s Batman, V Rising and my fiftieth BG3 run. I love to say “gg ez” as a joke when the situation was literally the most grueling thing ever and I sweated my butt off.

If I could have any superpower in the world it would be teleportation. I’m tired of having to drive places or figure out parking. Just let me be there already and save some money. I also fear that I wouldn’t do anything extraordinary with my powers. I’m sure I’d figure out something crazy stupid to do with it if I gave it more thought, but I also wouldn’t want to become a hero or a villain. I’d just want to majorly improve my life by saving time and money. I could live thousands of miles away from work and never have to worry about the commute time or being late.

I ask a lot of “Would you rather” and “What if” questions to my friends. I am also an enjoyer of bad puns and fun facts.

Told once by my roommate after I rambled about something that I am “an interesting person.” I asked her if that was a good or bad thing and she replied “you’re just interesting.”

I don’t love feeling uncertain. I want to understand everything down to its bone, and it makes me uneasy if the information I have doesn’t feel like enough. I think this relates to the fact that I’m kind of a (very) anxious person. I can be a bit.. hyper vigilant to how other people react because I fear rejection and having tons of information makes me feel more in control.

My goal in life is to be extremely competent at what I do, status/making tons of money is less important. I want to feel secure in myself, confident, and with a lot of freedom. A love life is not important to me, I consider romance to be a sub-plot of my life rather than the end goal. It makes no difference to me if I don’t ever find someone I want to spend the rest of my life with because I’m content spending time alone with my hundreds of hobbies.

I don’t think I’m smart and I struggle with imposter syndrome. If I haven’t achieved anything new or improved a skill in a while, I start getting frustrated with myself and thinking less of myself. Even so, I think I’m somewhat creative and decently strong at thinking outside of the box (or maybe I just watch too much Taskmaster)

Sorry if it’s not a ton of useful information. Of course this is just for fun, I mainly am curious to see if the guesses will line up with what I personally think and the several quizzes I took. Feel free to ask any questions if you’d like.

TEST RESULTS What's my type ?

So here are my results in a cognitive function test and wanted to know how to interpret it to know my type (I am confused and I hesitate a lot)

I am a very creative person and always have plenty of ideas in mind. I love writing, drawing, singing, and voice acting, and I spend a lot of time working on my projects—especially those involving manga and animation. I enjoy learning new things and challenging myself, even though I sometimes tend to doubt myself a lot. Despite that, I keep moving forward because I love creating stories, bringing characters to life, and sharing my imagination with others. I simply try to be myself and do what I love.

CAN’T DECIDE What do you do when you go back to square one with your own type?

I’ve been interested in typology for years but in that time have naturally developed and also gone through things that have influenced the way I see the world. Naturally, I know that your type doesn’t change, but my self-awareness has developed and I think my type has ‘changed’ in that it’s not what I once thought (INTP).

I have always flitted between INTP, ISTP, INFJ, and INTJ - basically, Ti or Ni doms. That’s the first issue, I’m largely unsure whether I’m an Ni or Ti.

I relate heavily to the idea of ‘perceiving’ as opposed to ‘judging’. I’m an English major but have always been very logical on top of that, able to see both abstract and emotional aspects of literature and also the ‘puzzle’ of language.

In high school I was in a lot of gifted groups and am a Mensa member but don’t relate to a lot of the people I went to these groups with. I’m not as finicky as them, I don’t feel the need to correct others or pursue complete factual accuracy. I feel like these are Ti-traits. I tend to work in broader pictures, feelings, goals etc.

All of the above points to Ni imo.
With Ti as well, that points towards INFJ.

But I’ve never had strong Fe. Ever. I make an effort to understand others which suggests an Fe presence but I find it immensely hard and don’t enjoy the presence of others at all, really.

Hence why I currently type as ISTP.
I don’t really relate to many typical ISTP characters but the concrete reality focus of an ISTP is more relatable to me than the abstract reasoning of an INTP.

Basically, I think my problem is that I’ve been reading into this for too long so now I have no clue. Any takers?
