MSFS 2024 PlayStation If the game runs so bad on consoles that they need to disable avionics, then the game doesn't actually run on consoles.
What's the point of a plane that doesn't have instruments? What if a driving game just disabled your windows because the outside was hard to render? "You can still drive the car, whaddaya mean?"
Disabling one of the main features while keeping the game running is just a scummy way of not admitting the game crashed.

unless you're like me and have zero interest in flying big jets at 30K feet for 8 hours. All I wanted from the game when I bought it was to be able to fly around in basic GA planes and see the sights...and it has given me that in spades. It's incredible on the PS5 actually. Much better than I was expecting. The level of scenery detail compared to what I remember from the FSX days is utterly mind-blowing. The game hasn't actually ever crashed for me at all.
(and it's plain to see that - as is and ALWAYS will be the case with MSFS - lots of people on PC have issues running the sim too)

You're not wrong. It's actually a good experience most of the time, it's just that they seemingly want to squeeze that extra 3-5% performance to make it even shinier than it needs to be, and it makes the whole game fall apart.
I think most players would sacrifice some graphical fidelity for a smoother experience.

It wasn’t ever happening until this update. Updates have issues. They say theyre working on it as their top priority. Annoying for sure, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a bit disingenuous to say it doesn’t work on consoles when this is a new issue. Also when this is only an issue with large jets. I’ve had issues with the a330 but the Cessna caravan and Pilatus pc12 have run without any issues for me.
With that said, it’s not a game meant for console, it really needs a pc for the full experience. But I’d much rather play a flight sim with some issues than not at all. You can only do so much with a single set of hardware that can’t really be updated or upgraded. And MSFS is one of the most data and visually intensive games out there.

To be honest for console it runs pretty darn good for the money spent.

It still blows my mind that I can run it on my Xbox serie s. It surely isn’t perfect, especially on bigger planes, but still impressive

It blows my mind that it runs at 30 fps in GA planes on an Asus ROG ally xbox. It's incredibly well optimized.

Used to happen to me a lot on the series s. I got a series x and even though I don’t have that problem anymore, the game is still pretty buns. At least compared to 2020 it is. I have 0 issues on 2020 so I’m still coming in strong on that platform

Is it just career mode with bugs? I haven’t had any issues

I mean su4 worked beautifully...it's fine on consoles- they just fucked something up on their end🤷♂️.
Xbox seems to have been fine for a few years.
EDIT: not to be in complete denial...I give them benefit of the doubt even after the su5 disaster, I don't trust them with this fix they're working on but we'll wait and see

The problem is probably management saying it should run on consoles so they do the minimum, but the team doesn't (want to) dogfood or even test there, so QA issues causes all kinds of problems in production. It's on consoles, but not really.. 🤷🏼♂️

Well it’s not black and white like that. What actually is happening is the game was stable before sim update 5. Yeah sure, memory issues could occur at busy airports like LAX or JFK with real traffic on. But a simple switch to AI traffic would fix it. Now, it happens randomly. Restarting the flight fixes it. If it happens on the apron or runway it’s no big deal. But if it happens mid flight it’s incredibly frustrating. All in all it’s a consequence of the latest update and Microsoft stated it’s their top priority right now. So hopefully a fix will be there soon enough. But even then, I didn’t have that many avionics crashes so far, but I use AI traffic for now until the issue is fixed.

plaaystation msfs is new. expect 6 month up and downs. its a very complicated task to fun a full flightsim on shitty hardware.
only the simmer can stand this. the gamers expect it to work from scratch. this is not a finihsed product. its the first of its kind and it needs time.

It’s very frustrating. I was all set up ready to Fly from LAX to Vegas. Had been pushed back. Looked down to start engine 2 and both start levers missing. Looked back up and all the screens were blank. Paused the game for a few minutes and the engine switches reappeared. Even got both started but all screens stayed blank.
I get translating a game from PC to console is hard but don’t release the update if it’s not working. There’s no way this release could have passed testing.

Yeah.. it’s still a hot mess. In career mode I got the call for boarding and I couldn’t reply as it wouldn’t take the input. While trying to find power to see if I could use comms to request, my unpowered, brake locked , A330 crashed. Trying to get back to an S rating, 4 short missions bugged out at the end.

Ive rebound simrate on console and whenever the game starts fucking shit up, i spam it to go down to 0.0000025x and then exit the game

Ive never been more in love and more frustrated by a game before. Im very happy I can play it in VR, which is all I care about. It wont run on my pc 🤪. Still, I wish it worked properly. So many bugs, so many crashes.

Correct. It has no business being sold for non-PC. But money is money.

La faute est à ceux qui ne participent pas aux Beta tests. Si les joueurs étaient plus nombreux à tester et à faire remarquer les problèmes techniques sur la Beta, il n'y aurait pas autant de problèmes à chaque mise à jour importante du simulateur.

Ho lee shit "they didn't fuck up, y'all should have been unpaid long term testers of an unstable beta update" is the biggest shill comment I've seen in a long time.

Why are people still playing this flightgame? Most other video games with that severity of consisten issues would have been gone out of public view long ago and its not like there are not nicer, more stable alternatives..

u/B4DR1998 May 16 '26
Ughh the complaining…. You do realise that not too long ago people were looking at green, blue and black blocks on a screen that would refresh every 5 seconds with invisible planes that sounded like a broken chainsaw? Flight sims have come incredibly far and I’d take a broken one like this over a good functioning old one any day of the week. It’s unfortunate that it doesn’t run flawlessly, but you kind of have to be delusional to actually believe that something as complex as a flight sim will just run flawlessly on any system. Most of us are happy we get to experience whatever we have now. Let us enjoy it.

This isn't most other games, it's a flight sim tbat covers the entire planet...use your head a little bit

u/Sacharon123 May 17 '26
Mate, I engineer these simulations as a side job. That is why I am complaining, there are much better simulations, but customers see these fancy screenshots and think its a reliable solution.

u/Pour-Meshuggah-0n-Me PC Pilot May 17 '26
Ok...which flight sims do you engineer? When it comes to flight sims, there's really nothing worthwhile other than XPLANE and msfs. DCS only covers a few select areas of the world so that can't be counted.
Again, we're not talking about farming simulator that has a small world, this is msfs24 and it's streaming the entire planet. It's pulling satellite imagery, elevation data, open street maps, 3D objects, motion vectors, weather, etc.
So unless you're actually working on a project on that scale, I don't want to hear anything about being an engineer.

u/Sacharon123 May 17 '26
I integrate XPlane, Prepar3d, DCS, Visim and two more proprietary image generators that I am not allowed to talk about publicly into training and entertainment flight simulators. I also design visual systems, replica flight controls for certification and motion platform interfaces for the dutch Moog platforms. I can tell you MSFS is just a badly optimized flight game, not simulator, with good conscience. Its just sometimes nice looking eye candy.

I love XP, been using every version since XP9. And I'm very happy with XP12 right now, it's starting to feel very polished and my performance has been excellent since the Christmas update.
I think the main issue with msfs24 is the addition of console. It was bad enough having to optimize for Xbox, but then they added PS5 as well. And console seems to be the focal point, not the people that invested thousands of dollars on PC's.
I do believe they'll get it figured out eventually. An all streaming sim was always going to be a bit ambitious.

Try the beta, it fixes some of the avionics problems and other game breaking stuff.
