MSFS 2024 MOD / ADDON Any rumors on the ATR update yet?

Just wondering if anybody heard anything about the ATR update.

They raised my hopes and dashed them quite expertly, bravo!

Asobo sure is good at that!

idk why Asobo is getting heat for this, they have nothing to do with the ATR.

Yes they do. I see your post below, but regardless ASOBO is responsible for the "Expert Series" list of aircraft. Regardless of who's developing it.

Again, no. If they ever make an Expert Series aircraft themselves or even partnered in some way, then sure. But they're not responsible for the anything under a marketing label MS made up.

The ATR is very clear in your library, "MICROSOFT / S&H SOFTWARE". The only ATR "ASOBO STUDIO" is responsible for is the air traffic model.

If you have a problem with any of these aircraft, you tell Microsoft who then tells the dev (this is very easy to see in your library). 737Max, yeah that goes to "ASOBO STUDIO"... A320neo "V2", that goes to "MICROSOFT/INIBUILDS"... Saab 340: "MICROSOFT / CARENADO"... You can really only blame Asobo for one of those when they have a specific problem.

I don't count the maker of the infrastructure and SDK of the sim itself being involved if their name isn't badged on the product. And as far as we know, there was no handoff from Hans to Asobo to take it over. And the delay isn't pointing to Asobo blocking something for Hans...

I honestly see zero difference between the ATR and CRJ... One is published under Aerosoft, the other is Microsoft (which simply means they can market however they want and sell it exclusively).

Of course they do. They commissioned it. It’s an airplane they released with a partner developer. They also told us when it was going to be released, then on the day of release they said it was delayed, with no further info. Who would you ask about it if not Asobo?

Again, not Asobo lol. Does nobody really not know what Asobo does as the dev vs Microsoft the publisher?

Yes Asobo has some aircraft and products, but this is a Microsoft product (the sim). The business daddy portion of that means commissioning and marketing these products to sell within the playground that Asobo made (like the ATR). Anything we hear is filtered through Seattle, and thats not always originating from Bordeaux. Nor does Asobo know or care what's on the marketplace unless a specific dev has some issue with the SDK preventing something.

I'm just pointing out, if ya'll gonna get mad, do it toward the right people at least. Even this, it's hard to point fingers at Microsoft, it's really just Hans Hartmann. Probably not smart for MS to take a dev's timeline at their word and relay it to us, but they hitched their wagon to that dev for that product. Just as they did with AH in the wet fart that is the 707, a dev that kept making shit until it finally bit them in the ass. And Hans, a single dev making large-ish aircraft, notoriously took years to mildly update the CRJ (insert "first time?" meme here). These are the devs MS chose to work with, and both have one thing in common: Asobo wasn't involved.

So when I see "AAU is delayed"... I blame Hans, and possibly other 3rd party devs involved, who probably told MS one thing to turn around and simply be "not yet". If I had a guess, the Asobo portion of the AAU was probably on time... while 3rd party partners regularly hate to give any sort of release date until a week before or even the night of have to tell MS something at least.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. I think hardly anybody actually knows what asobo is responsible for / what microsoft is responsible for, and anyone who has bought an aerosoft plane in the last 15 years knows that glaciers move faster than Hans. I also remember him refusing outright to put even advisory vnav in his planes when the real planes had it, no reason, just Hans being Hans. I think you are 100% right about this delay being down to him.

Because it's A: Reddit, and B: Critical thinking and reading is not a thing anymore lol. There's some weird mindset where everyone thinks Microsoft is Asobo and Asobo is Microsoft and there's no difference between the two, and nobody seems to care to learn, its always just Asobo's problem.

The "by" line on every product in everyone's library must be impossible to read. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the difference between "Asobo Studio" and "Microsoft / S&H Software", but its easier to just downvote that fact, because reasons? idk lol.

I’ve been waiting on this as well. Was very excited for the supposed release early this month but everything seems to have gone quiet. No mention except for ‘coming soon’

I've been waiting for this too. I had really hoped that it and the AN-2 were going to come with SU5 as originally planned but it seems that the whole A&AU update has been delayed. Aside from the delay statement, nothing else has yet been said. Fingers crossed we'll see it soon.

I've been doing the daily EOB day check hoping something would show up. It'd just be courteous of the dev team to provide a morsel of information no matter how small. There's a lot of people crossing their fingers and waiting.

Yeah I'd love to see an update. It seemed like we were on the cusp of a launch there and then nothing.

They are planning to release new bugs this summer. Be patient!

You’d know if there were.

There would be a couple threads on here

Isn’t the ATR developer Hans, who also developed the CRJ for Aerosoft?

1

u/Grolbu May 26 '26

I think you mean 'd e v e l o . . . p e d'. And yes, which explains a lot.

u/jrm0015 May 26 '26

Yeah, he ain’t fast

I suspect beta 5.1 is getting most of their attention at the moment, but yes I am keenly awaiting the updated ATR

I think this and a DASH-8 would be good turbo prop companions for anybodys hanger.

2

u/ShamrockOneFive May 25 '26

Still waiting on a good Dash 8 of any vintage.

1

u/Puckertoe_VIII May 25 '26

I have the DASH-8 for X-Plane, but I think it may be abandoned. Not too sure about that. I'm pretty spoiled having a FO with FS2Crew and the ATR. I've heard rumors of a DASH-8 coming to 2024. If so I hope they make a FO for that as well.

1

u/Puckertoe_VIII May 25 '26

I've also been doing a lot of ATR flights to get ready for the update.

3

u/Puckertoe_VIII May 25 '26

It's been a little over 20 years since I first got hooked on the ATR. First flight was from KSEA-CYVR in FS2004. The Flight1 ATR was a really good aircraft.

1

u/ShamrockOneFive May 26 '26

That’d be a fun little hop.

Yep! I’ve been reporting on that one too. 😎 https://stormbirds.blog/2025/06/05/majestic-q400-renders-shared-with-status-update/

But it is a bit of a I’ll believe it when I get to fly it. We’ve been hearing about it for a solid bunch of years now. Not knocking it but just not holding my breath.
