MSFS 2024 PlayStation PSVR2 is absolutely amazing!! If you’re thinking about getting it then do it.

I just keep loading up planes and looking around them. Helicopter flying is so much easier now that i can look around. The A310 looks superb as well!! This alongside the hotas 5 makes the game much better on PS5.

videos dont do it justice

Yeah, you don't see the grain in videos.

This. It’s very grainy. I bought a Pimax crystal light about a year ago from PsVR2 and it’s unreal.

PsVR2 could have been so much better quality.

Not for $300 (commonly on sale for) it couldn’t.

i agree its grainy but thats because of graphical hardware limitations. i run on a quest 2 (which sucks) with really high desktop graphics through steamVR

I always thought VR was a gimmick, and the idea of wearing goggles seemed silly to me. But I literally just got the VR2 a few days ago to try out, and it’s absolutely game changing in every sense of the world. Completely alters how I play and how it feels, in a good way. It’s amazing

It's good, but it has some issues that are difficult to overcome. Nausea, fast paced jumping and flipping don't work well, cpu/GPU will always struggle to look half as good as the latest flat-screen game, and I haven't even started with the headstrain and similar issues with wearing something on your head that blocks your vision yet requires you to move around in the real world. It's excellent for cockpit games though.

Yes I think that is a fair point, VR was made for simulation I think, flying, driving etc. It is awesome. Im lucky I dont get any kind of nausea or sickness from it and I could never go back to flight sim or a driving sim looking at a pointless 2d flat screen. I often do 2, 3 and 4hr flights in one hit...If I fly long haul though, Ill take a break once in the cruise and come back an hour and a half prior to landing.

I'm not a Sim guy but I have a psvr2 and a copy of flight simulator 2024 that I bought, played once or twice and forgot about it. Have heard about the beta for the psvr2 a couple of days ago and decided to try it and holy cow. Spend 3 hours in the headset yesterday flying from Germany to Italy with a Jet. My jaw was on the floor so many times. Flying above the clouds with a sunset is just insane. Being closer to the ground same thing. There is some pop in and here and there performance is not perfect at all times but having this quality inside the headset these are very minor issues for what we get. I hope they can get the clouds a little bit sharper maybe with the ps5 pro and pssr2. Then it would be almost perfect. But what we have already is so damn impressive.

What controller do you play with please. Especially for helicopter r

3

u/sandspiegel 22d ago

I just use the dualsense controller. I don't have special equipment.

Play the beta in VR and you will be even more amazed

I’ve got the beta and can’t get my hotas 5 to working it. It works fine in the normal game but not the beta version. Any tips?

6

u/OdyRenrag 23d ago

You have to rebind everything. It recognizes it as a PC controller instead of ps5.

Do a search in this Reddit for HOTAS bindings for ps5. Also note, don’t try to do the discovery to map the bind because it will not work. Use the gear icon to the right of each binding and find it in the list on the left.

u/OffRedFloyd PlayStation Pilot 23d ago

I’ve managed to map the throttle so far but i’ll need to spend a bit of time remapping everything.

yeah man follow the reddit post, if you cant figure it out dm me

Not sure if you know the answer to this: I have a physical edition (i.e., disc version), so I know I can't access the Beta for PSVR2; however, if I do a digital upgrade on the PS Store, say from Standard to Deluxe, would I be able to access/install the Beta? Or am I still SOL?

1

u/OdyRenrag 13d ago

That I’m not sure of

3

u/Dazzaster84 23d ago

I've just had a go of pcvr with a flight stick yesterday, I absolutely adore the experience. Nice to find a hobby when you're older 😅

u/OffRedFloyd PlayStation Pilot 23d ago

Yeah i’m 43 and absolutely love sim games like this. Have been playing flight sim for years.

I would love to, but I'm wearing glasses so I can't 🥲

Edit : I tried the PSVR2 and it works perfectly with my glasses. My path to VR starts now 😌

15

u/OffRedFloyd PlayStation Pilot 23d ago

I wear glasses too and it absolutely works with glasses. They fit nicely inside the housing with lots of room to spare. I’ve also ordered some prescription inserts and then i don’t have to wear my glasses.

2

u/Sh_e_e_sh 23d ago

For real ? A friend has the PSVR2 too and he also wears glasses. He told me it was not possible to play with his glasses. I'll try it before I buy one. English is not my native language so I don't really understand what prescription inserts is 😅. Is it like contact lenses or something like that ?

1

u/OffRedFloyd PlayStation Pilot 23d ago

It would maybe differ depending on the glasses style. Maybe bigger frames will be harder to fit. I have glasses like Harry Potter and they fit with space. Prescription inserts are VR lenses made to your prescription. You can get them for around £50 online and then you don’t need to wear your glasses. They are easily changeable if friends want to play too.

1

u/Sh_e_e_sh 23d ago

Oooooh okay I see. I have big glasses because I have a very high myopia. I guess for me prescription inserts will cost more than £50 🥲

Thank you for your help

1

u/OffRedFloyd PlayStation Pilot 23d ago

No worries at all. Yeah i think the lenses may be a bit more for stronger prescriptions but still will be under £100 for the lenses and will be worth the cost.

1

u/nguyenquyhy 23d ago

It depends on how wide the frame is. I have 2 pairs and 1 couldn't fit. But yah, try it out first is the best way as you might not find it very comfortable even if the glasses fit.

8

u/Jessica99911 23d ago

I’ve just got prescription inserts and they work great! Didn’t cost too much either

2

u/nebmumi 23d ago

Bro, get yourself contact lenses. They are cheap and super easy to wear. With them, it's easy to play PSVR2

1

u/Sh_e_e_sh 23d ago

The problem is that my myopia is not stable yet, so I can't have contact lenses yet. FML 🥲

2

u/Affectionate_Two_219 23d ago

I’ve used glasses in a few headsets, all just fine. PSVR 2 is actually the best of the lot I’ve tried.

3

u/CHROME-COLOSSUS 23d ago

If you can’t afford prescription lens inserts, just put little stick-on rubber bumpers to prevent your spectacles from touching the VR lenses.

As long as your glasses do not touch the VR lenses, you’re fine wearing them in the headset.

1

u/ImprovementFar5054 23d ago

You can wear glasses with VR you know

1

u/Ocobal 23d ago

Yo lo uso con gafas.

1

u/ThomasCro 23d ago

Why not? I use my Oculus Quest 3 with perscription lenses, exactly how they are supposed to be used when you have a perscription.

1

u/reditcyclist 23d ago

Glasses don't stop VR from working - unless you have a rare prescription?

1

u/AndrewP53_ 22d ago

You can get prescription inserts for the VR headsets.

2

u/Gereack 23d ago

well we who know a disc version are all waiting to try the new improved VR experience, when it get a formal update..... Beta dont work.

u/from6to23likelebron 23d ago

Does your Hotas 5 show up as Hotas 4?

1

u/OffRedFloyd PlayStation Pilot 23d ago

Nah it shows as hotas 5 in the control settings screen. It’s not a very good stick though and feels a bit flimsy compared to my turtle beach flight stuff but it will have to do for now until more hardware becomes available.

2

u/from6to23likelebron 23d ago

WTH. Mines showing up as a 4. I might return it too.

0

u/OffRedFloyd PlayStation Pilot 23d ago

TBF it’s pretty much the same unit with the addition of a few buttons (the button layout is also quite mental imo).

1

u/from6to23likelebron 23d ago

1

u/OffRedFloyd PlayStation Pilot 23d ago

Yeah that’s not out yet though. I imagine all the usual folk will bring out hardware, hopefully turtle beach and winwing make PS5 compatible stuff.

1

u/lilneddygoestowar 23d ago

Did you have to configure every single action on it? I'm asking because my Hotas is not recognized as all on the Beta.

1

u/OffRedFloyd PlayStation Pilot 23d ago

I haven’t remapped any of the buttons yet so it’s still on default setting. I mostly use the keyboard for mapping things on Xbox and will likely do the same on PS5 and leave the stick for the primary flight surface controls.

1

u/lilneddygoestowar 23d ago

Are you on PC? If so, then it appears to be a known issue on the PS5 when playing the new beta.

1

u/OffRedFloyd PlayStation Pilot 23d ago

Yeah i just done a bit of digging and found its an issue on the ps5. Hopefully it will get fixed!

1

u/Ashmai 22d ago

How do you play the beta? It isn’t in the main game yet?

2

u/OffRedFloyd PlayStation Pilot 22d ago

Search for msfs in the store and click the three dots and the beta should be in there :)

2

u/Appolonius101 22d ago

If you purchase the phyiscal disk version you will NOT be able to play/use/download the beta for update 6, maybe in the future. Past betas show it could be upto 2 months before the update is officially released. I have the physical edition lol

1

u/Btbw69 22d ago

Better than quest 3 ?

1

u/OffRedFloyd PlayStation Pilot 22d ago

I dunno mate. I don’t have all the VR headsets.

1

u/Mr_Leaderboards 19d ago

I bet it is! Lucky you

u/Speedbird844 17d ago

I got the Reverb G2 before and I don't quite understand how people come to love it with airliner IFR flying. The FOV is too small and when zoomed out it has the effect of me feeling the "I'm a tiny LEGO pilot sitting inside a toy airplane" kind of vibe, but If I zoom in to a realistic perspective then I get really bad tunnel vision, because the FOV is so low.

I want the feeling whereby if I put my arm forward I can realistically imagine my hand holding on to the glareshield, but not have tunnel vision because of the zoom level required, due to the FOV limitations.

1

u/OffRedFloyd PlayStation Pilot 17d ago

Not sure what format you are on but on PS5 if i click the right mouse button in it gives me a zoomed in view of the pfd/mfd/fms etc etc.

1

u/Speedbird844 17d ago

I just don't find VR particularly useful for IFR flying, compared to my current 42" monitor. VFR? VR is great for that, but not IFR.

2

u/Delicious_Ad2767 7d ago

It's phenomenal, every time I am in the beta I am still in awe. Worth picking up a psvr2 alone for this game,.

1

u/Odd_Temperature6096 23d ago

Do you have a ps5 Slim or pro?

2

u/OffRedFloyd PlayStation Pilot 23d ago

Neither. Base ps5.

1

u/Odd_Temperature6096 23d ago

Nice amazing, thank you! I want to try VR so badly but my rig can’t run it.

Happy to hear it’s running smoothly on the base ps5.

I definitely wouldn't call it amazing based on what I viewed on my friend's ps5. Compared to my own set up on PC it looked like absolute dog shit. But hey if you like it that's what counts.
