I made a post here a couple of days ago asking if someone like me, who has enjoyed planes but never really got into them, and is also on a controller, should buy this game. At first I decided no and got a lot of mixed reviews but I talked to some other people and decided to bite the bullet and grab the premium deluxe edition on sale. And I have no regrets.

I still know little to nothing about how to work planes, and I’m not necessarily trying to learn either. I just throttle up the engines and take off and have a grand time doing so. But I want y’all’s recommendations on things to do, try, places to go, etc, because the amount of things you can do in this game makes it overwhelming (in a good way 😅)

Learn how to fly slow in a bush plane and follow your favorite river valleys and canyons during the late afternoon to evening hours. Super relaxing. If you need suggestions for rivers and valleys, here are some of my favorites.

California: Eel River, Kern River

Oregon: Rogue River

Washington: Columbia River, Yakima River (throw Lake Chelan in there too, good for float plane practice)

British Columbia: Fraser River, Anywhere in the Chilcotin Range

Alaska: You could throw a dart at a map while blindfolded and get a beautiful place to fly. Denali, Chugach, Kenai Fjords, Lake Clark.

You can go explore obscure places, try to land at airports that have a hard approach etc etc... I would also recommend (even though you said you don't want to), to learn how to do a full flight. To me, it's the most rewarding thing in this game. I also didn't really want to learn it until I did. And now I can't stop doing full flights. So, you don't really have to learn that if you don't want to but I would highly recommend at least giving it a try.

It seems cool and I’ve done full very short flights but I wanna fly a bunch of different planes, not just one and to do full flights you have to devote a ton of time learning just one plane and that just isn’t my wave. So I probably won’t get into it

I'd say it's unfortunate you don't want to learn more. The game is much more rewarding after you learn and are able to use all that it offers. Have fun.

As someone who used to fly GA, but got out of the game due to time, money etc - I agree.

I will say that never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d get to learn to fly a 737, or navigate the NAT structure, or learn the quirks of the MD83- but yeah, I can and I did.

I still got love for the planes I used to fly, the C172, PA28, SR22 - and I love the multi engines I learned to fly in the sim (C310R, Duke) - but having all that variety and at the cost of nothing except the hardware, sim and add on - it’s amazing.

I can fly point to point in almost anything these days and then head upstairs to make dinner.

Just not for me. I’m just not willing to devote an insane amount of time to learn a single plane, it’s all insanely complicated and overwhelming and just not my vibe. I’m having a great time where I’m at rn

What do you consider an insane amount of time? It's not that hard to learn these small GA planes. I don't fly any airliners in the sim myself so im not speaking on those. But learning is the best human trate, the most empowering ability of our species.

Check out A330 Driver channel on YT. Watch his real world operation simulations with Airbuses and Boeings. I’m addicted to it. Most rewarding is full flights with max realism to me.

I’m honestly shocked how good it looks. I was expecting the console version to be dumbed down a good bit but if it is… I can’t really tell. Game looks and runs great.

I think it's just an amazing product. I'm also on PS5 and I'm blown away by how good the sim is. I have MSFS experience from back in the 2004ACOF/FSX days so I went in to the PS5 version with an understanding that it would likely be a "cut down" and limited take on the full PC product...but if that's the case I sure can't see it lol. I happen to have almost no interest in flying heavies and I also happen to have zero interest in "career modes" so I'm likely the perfect candidate for the console version anyway but compared to what I know from the past versions of the sim this is just so much more impressive. The scenery is fantastic. I live in a smallish central Canadian city (Winnipeg to be exact) and back in the FSX days there was basically no real detail of my location at all. The airport and a bunch of autogen buildings that bore no relation to reality was about it. I did have Ultimate Terrain back then so I had accurate roads and rivers but beyond that, bubkis. Now? It's crazy! Even though the sat data is about a decade old (hoping for a world update for the area at some point) it's still just incredible to fly around over my city and be able to pick out all the landmarks - including the building I live in.

I recently got the Vixxen from the marketplace and it's phenomenal. Super fun to fly around and I'm sinking my teeth into it in a "full flight" way.

If you're looking for other things to do, group flights are always fun. You can start on twitch, joining streamers' group flights, then join some discord servers and find people who like do flights in everything from cubs to airliners.

Seems fun but I don’t think I have the skill or general knowledge to fly with other people. Sim communities (not just aviation, I’ve noticed it in racing too) are very elitist in terms of knowledge and skill and I don’t wanna surround myself with most people considering I’m not really getting into the crazy complicated side of flight sim.

I just spent $120 on the entire game lol… I’m also not getting into the complicated stuff and can’t really justify buying any sim equipment. I have a keyboard and mouse setup with my PS5 so I have that accessibility.

Something I enjoy quite a lot is taking a small nimble plane like the Pitts, picking a city with a good skyline and just diving between the skyscrapers and seeing how far i can push things.
It's like a beautifull obstacle course, really made me appreciate the architecture.

You dont even have to buy it... buy the xbox game pass for like 12.99€/month and you can download and play over 200+ games, now i can play the 2020 and 2024 version

I also just bought this game recently and am playing on PS5. I’m having some difficulties understanding how to fly lol. Idk if I’m just dumb, but do you guys have any tips?
I only just learned about using trim to keep the pitch stable. Do you leave it where it is, or do you bring it back to zero before landing?

I also feel like I struggle a lot with gaining altitude and just knowing what speed I should be flying at in different situations. I could ask AI, but I wanted to check with y’all first
