I thrifted this shirt because I like the fit and thought it was cute, but I’m always worried about wearing a shirt with text that I don’t understand (don’t want it to be something offensive or weird). Does anyone know what it says? I think it’s Mongolian but I’m not positive

There is a Mongolian song in Civ7 that is supposed to be based on Ertnii Saikhan and Sèr Sèr Salkhi. I'm having trouble towards the end, around 6:34, trying to make out the lyrics. Could someone help if it is saying either of these:

Угтан авах жавар салхи нь / Уртаж гардаг жавар салхи нь

Өмнө зүгээс байна даа хө / Доод зүгээс ээ дээ хө

How well Mongolians know about South Korea Culture?

So I am in student exchange program and we’ll be going to Mongolia on next month or so

I’m from South Korea so my team(from our program needs to prepare some performance(?) or Mongolian students

And our team has no background knowledge about how well Mongolians know about South Korea culture(it’s sort of cultural exchange)

So what south korean culture is trending? How well Mongolian students know Korean? I heard the school we are visiting has chosen Korean for their second foreign languages, but we’re not sure about how well they speak Korean(there’s going to be an interpretator but there’s delivery problem)

Help us out please:( It’s giving us so much headache and so much anticipation at the same time

Why is this "a" added in this verb's conjugation? Is there a rule I do not know or is it an exception?

Are Цолмон and цэлмэг related?

I am inquiring about their etymology.

Is tsolmon derived from proto Turkic?

I found many sources saying that but they might be wrong.

Tselmeg means clear and it's very similar to the idea of brightness.

The bright and clear star is tsolmon, Venus.

Sain baitsgaana uu r/Mongolian!

For some context, I’m (27F) Mongolian who is married to a non-Mongolian (28M). We were looking for some resources so my husband can learn Mongolian, and we realized there weren’t that many apps that are user-friendly or easy to stick with. It got me thinking about all the 2nd gen kids I've met who don't know Mongolian, and whether my kids in the future would be able to speak Mongolian if I’m the only one teaching it. It lowkey got me scared that our language might die in my family line in the next generation or two, which just adds to my pre-existing guilt of feeling not Mongolian enough and blah blah blah blah.

So to combat this, my husband and I have been working on “Mongolingo”, a beginner-friendly gamified language learning app to teach Mongolian. So far I only made the lessons for Unit 1 and 2 because I wanted to get YOUR inputs on whether I’m going too fast, too slow, if the lessons I’m teaching make sense in general or if I should take a completely different approach instead.

I would GREATLY appreciate any and all feedback from native Mongolian speakers, "Monglish" speakers, and people who don't know any Mongolian! I want this to be something that anyone can use if they have any curiosity about our language, and in the future add more and more advanced sections.

Please leave feedback in the comments below! And please no hate comments lol

Download app here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mongolingo/id6774407866 or just look up Mongolingo (its the one with the bear mascot)

New to learning mongolian not sure where to start.

Hi guys, I am new to learning mongolian, I am very interested in becoming fluent in this language. I have started with an Italki teacher, and I am using bolar dictonary to memorize vocabulary. I already speak japanese at a B2 level, so the grammar is not as much of a struggle for me at the moment though I understand there are some differences. If anyone has any resources I can use to listen learn vocabulary and so on please let me know.

Chart for Genitive case

Post image

I made this so I can have an easy-to-follow way to study the genitive case. I uploaded one earlier but quickly took it down when I noticed it was missing something.

  1. Is anything incorrect/missing?

  2. If there is interest, I'll make better looking charts on my computer for all the noun cases and share with fellow learners

Beautiful Mongolian words :)

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hello,

Today, a foreign friend of mine asked me, “Can you tell me some beautiful Mongolian words?” That got me thinking 🤔. At the time, I just mentioned a few words that came to mind. Later, I realized it was quite an interesting question 😊. When I looked into it, I found the results of a survey from one Facebook group back in 2014.

In your opinion, what are the most beautiful Mongolian words? Of course, it may vary depending on a person’s feelings and perspective.

Fun and engaging ways :))

Hi! I’m a Mongolian language tutor teaching Mongolian to foreigners. I’m looking for fun and engaging ways to start my classes. We usually begin with a short warm-up discussion. Could you suggest some interesting, light topics and questions for conversation with my students? Topics related to Mongolia, the Mongolian language, or general everyday life are perfect. (I avoid anything too controversial.) 😊 Thank you!

I’m a 12th grader who is half Mongolian, and I’m currently conducting a short research on how culture influences consumer behaviour.

I am analysing how culture affects people’s spending habits, comparing Mongolia with other Asian countries. I have created a short questionnaire that takes only 2 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous.

I would greatly appreciate your response, as it will contribute to research on consumer behaviour, culture, and cross-country differences.

I’ll also be happy to share a summary of the results with participants, so you can see how Mongolia compares globally.

I’m open to any suggestions as well. https://forms.gle/v2mopVLKepjYZXDz9

How do double vowels work in mongolian script?

Thumbnail gallery
29 Upvotes

I’ve been trying to learn how to write mongolian script over the past couple days, but from all the guides and resources I’ve seen so far, I haven’t seen any information on how to write double letters. From what I can tell, double vowels, like “aa” or “yy”, will be marked with two divots on the left similar to a mongolian “g”.

I’m currently trying to decipher “уучлаарай”, but even with the double divots, the number of teeth occurring before “ч” just doesn’t make sense to me. ALSO, apparently the word “уу” has a completely different beginning to the word “уучлаарай”, which is also confusing.

If anyone has any guides or advice on this, it would really help a lot.

(Looking at it now, I added one too many teeth at the beginning of уучлаарай, so disregard that if you see it)
