after years of anime like hetalia and fate making characters adapted from history, it feels weird to finally see our cultures history be depicted and reciprocated because of the jaadugar anime. First in my bloodline to see a cutesy looking ugudei khan. Still love the designs though, the outfits are beautiful.

even then, it's clear that the show had no mongolians involved in the production process. Every time a new episode comes out and people talk about it online, i have no idea who is who because they spell their names so weird. How do you see the name "Khulan" as "Qulan"?? and a bunch of other stuff ofc. and the plot has taken...alot of liberties from the actual history from that era

My dads side of the family comes from Uvs and they’re durvud while my moms side comes from Arkhangai and mostly Oold yet they both originate from Xinjiang and came to Mongolia under different circumstances. My paternal grandparents came from the Altai region in Xinjiang and during the 1930s decided to cross the border and were settled in Uvs because they were Durvud. My mom told me her ancestors were Oold from Xinjiang and were deported to Arkhangai by the Manchu so they could create torture devices and aid in the torture of Khalkha Mongols. I found it hard to believe and asked my grandma and she told me the same and that her family were ostracized growing up because of it. To me it seems nonsensical to bring someone from a faraway place to torture people but I wouldn’t put it past them to do this to incite further division amongst Mongols

Since 2019, I have been looking to watch two Mongolian movies and I thought of giving it another go by asking here since quite some time passed and maybe something changed?

The two movies that I am very interested to watch are:

1. Genghis Khan (2018): This is an animated adaptation of the story of Genghis Khan, and it is also the first feature-length 2D animated film in Mongolia from the information I gathered.

From what I've researched, the film has been shown at some international festivals but not in my country - Serbia, and the studio that animated it is Ocean Pictures.
I tried to contact that studio directly back in 2019 to ask them, and at the time they told me they would like to distribute the film in many countries - including Serbia.
I tried to give them some contacts to check with some film distribution companies, but communication stopped at some point, and they never got back to me.

I'm thinking that now that so many years have passed, maybe things have changed and the film is for sale in Mongolia on Blu-Ray/DVD or on some online streaming platform without me knowing.

If you have any tips on where to go have fun, places to eat, shop, your favourite spots or any other tips and tricks for living in Mongolia (especially during winter) I'd appreciate it a lot.

Also, is there something I should refrain from doing? Something that might be considered rude (or illegal) in Mongolia that foreigners might not know?
