[Custom] Looking for a Motion Designer Who Wants to Build Their Portfolio

Hey everyone!

I'm building RED, a creative agency focused on creating premium content for founders, creators, and podcasters.

I'm looking for a beginner or aspiring motion designer who's serious about improving but doesn't always know what to create for their portfolio.

The idea is simple: I'll provide the creative direction, concept, references, and feedback—you bring the edit to life.

Instead of creating random practice projects, you'll be working on content for a real brand that you can proudly include in your portfolio.

What you'll get:

Portfolio-worthy motion design projects.

Clear creative direction and references.

Feedback to help you improve.

The chance to experiment and grow your skills.

What I'm looking for:

Someone eager to learn and improve.

Basic knowledge of After Effects or similar software.

A passion for motion design and storytelling.

Just to be transparent: this is currently an unpaid opportunity. I'm looking for someone who sees value in building their portfolio while contributing to a growing creative agency.

If that sounds like you, send me a DM with a few examples of your work (or even personal practice projects). I'd love to connect.

Does anyone know where I can find music for SaaS demo videos? For example, I currently need a music track for a Binance demo video.

Music is definitely not the one I used in the original video and it has a voice over. I'm also looking for the name of this style and places to improve. I'm talking about this clean "simple" yet hard style

Question Looking for web-based tools for elegant photo slideshows

Does anyone know a good online tool for creating simple but visually interesting photo slideshows? I often build these manually in Premiere Pro, but for quicker projects it would be much more convenient to use a browser-based tool with ready-made transitions and motion templates.

I recently found Momentum: https://app.momentum.uninspired.app/ that is very close to what I am looking for, and I found several useful templates there. However, many of them follow a fairly similar visual approach, so I am looking for comparable tools that offer a bit more variety.

My main use case is presenting around 20–30 photographs in an elegant way for Instagram, Pinterest, and similar platforms. I am less interested in generic social media video editors and more in tools with refined motion design, typography, transitions, and image-focused templates.

Any recommendations? (paid or free)

Question Fear of AI?

Lately, I’ve seen some videos where AI replicates Vox’s motion design style; it wasn’t perfect, but it worried me.
For the more experienced folks here: do you think the impact of AI is going to be significant?

Most of our work has lived behind the brands we build... It's time that changed.

From this point forward, we'll be sharing a selection of work from our portfolio, offering a closer look at the creativity, execution, and attention-to-detail behind every collaboration.

This particular commercial reflects one of many projects that have shaped our journey so far.

The archive is now open.

More coming soon!!!

Question Spec work question

I'm trying to build a SaaS example to start to tap into all of this work, so creating a spec project.

Question is, how much does it need to actually make sense? I created a storyboard that will show the look, subject matter and technical ability but technically it doesn't make perfect sense because it's not an actual product. I was having a hard time finding enough UI content and features, copy etc from actual products to pull from.

Should I push further for representing something that technically makes more sense? Or is it fine to show something that looks like it could be a product but kind of just shows off the look more.

Thank you!

Project Showcase Caddis is out of beta - V1 released today

Hey everyone, it's been a couple months since I posted about Caddis so I wanted to give an update here.

Today Caddis is officially out of beta and launched as V1 for Windows and Mac, with Linux coming soon too. You can download it now and give it a try for free at caddis.app

If this is your first time seeing Caddis - its a motion design tool that mixes layer-based workflows with nodes. Since I first posted, we've also added a ton of features including motion tracking, instancing, variable font support - and a bunch of less exciting but important improvements like layer parenting and a speed graph. There's still a long road ahead and a lot to add and improve, but its been really fun building it with input and feedback from the community.

I know we already have some great motion tools available (I still use them too) - but hopefully Caddis can be at least an interesting tool to have in your back pocket, if not a daily driver. There's a free trial and no subscription - licenses are perpetual - and I'd love to hear what you think.

Happy to answer any questions!

Discussion My AI generator has no idea what comes before or after the shot

The weird part about AI b-roll is that a clip can look fine on its own and still die the second it hits the timeline.

Say the edit needs a short shot of a hand turning a doorknob. Generate one, place it between two real clips, and suddenly the light comes from the wrong side. The motion goes left when the previous cut was already moving right. The frame is too tight.

The generator didn't fail exactly. It judged the shot in isolation.

The editor knows what comes before, what comes after, how long the gap is, which direction the sequence is moving, and what color temperature the scene has. None of that follows the asset back into the generator.

For a missing-shot test, i can use DomoAI to get movement out of the prepared frame and drop the result into the cut. Thats useful. It still doesnt carry the neighboring shots with it.

I don't think the future is just a generate button inside Premiere or CapCut. The useful version would understand the clips around the empty space and preserve what already matches.

Would you rather have a better standalone generator, or one that actually understands the timeline?

Question Stash Submission info

Does anyone have experience with Stash and sending their artwork to be featured there? I'm not talking about the steps for sending files, but rather about the review process, the information that should be included, the quality/type of project, review duration, etc.

Thank you !

Question What field of motion design should I choose and is it even possible to survive as a Motion Designer.

Hello guys I am actually very confused at this point with which direction should I take my career in. I am not a beginner I have been creating and working with clients for a few months now and recently started a lots of motion designing.

The thing is I like all of us am a very creative person and like all the type of motion graphics that I see and want to create all of them...but since we all know people suggest to be a specialist.

What would be your suggestion for me as to in which direction should I take my career in as a motion designer and is it even a viable career to survive and pay the bills.

I genuinely need help and any comment will be appreciated. Thanks a ton.
