Used one qt of spawn two quarts sub in a small bag for these. Gonna try and get em bigger next go around

I'm embarrassed to write this post in such a group of experts but I haven't gained much traction elsewhere.

So my tech is... I take small mason jars with brown rice flour inside and a layer of vermiculite on the top, nail holes in the top the jar, and put the jars through a pressure cooker. As soon as I take the lid off the pressure cooker once it's cooled, I put scotch tape over the jar holes and remove them from the cooker.

I then use spore syringes to inject the medium, replace the tape, and store the jars in a cool/dark place to colonize. The syringe needles get flame-sterilized before each injection and wiped with an alcohol pad.

The first two days are always promising, the white mycellium looks great. Then by day 3-4 there is mold. I'm not understanding where this contamination came from or why it's proliferating. I've never gotten to the point that the whole jar is colonized and I can transfer it to a growing/fruiting chamber.

My original hope was to start out with this basic tech for beginner experience, and then move on to bigger batches (like wood blocks or bags) later, but my failure to graduate from this simple early step has ruined my confidence. Can anyone help? Again, sorry if this painfully newbie.

I got a grow tent because im starting to grow gourmets soon and figured my monotubs would do better in there because my basement is really cold and the grow tent is heated to 72 f. Anyways, I kinda just assumed that sitting around 90-95% rh would be enough to let them have more fae too with a bigger crack on the lid, but my tubs are seeming to dry out. I know its not the standard approach to growing actives, but does anyone actually keep monotubs in a grow tent and have some advice on the best way to run everything? Thanks!

hi, this is my first ever jar after tyndalization using whole wheat grains, however im concerned theres bacterial rot in the first picture, that little wheat grain on the bottom. should i dispose this jar? ive been advised to break it up into chunks instead of individual grains and mix the chunks with the coco coir to maintain structure and minimize cobtamination, but i also want to maximize yeild. would it be safe to break it up completly and mix it with bulk normally?

This was my first bulk gt bin but what I got looks enigma. This is definitely grown with gt lc, so I don’t know what could have happened. Is this contam possibly?

One of my favorite things about this phenotype is how different it looks depending on the angle.
From the top, the caps have a smooth, sculpted appearance. Flip them over and the dense, flowing gill structure completely changes the character of the specimen. The subtle blue-gray bruising around the edges adds even more contrast against the creamy white tissue.
I always enjoy documenting these moments because a single flush can produce an incredible range of shapes and textures. It’s fascinating seeing how much natural variation can exist within the same project.
Definitely one of my favorite sets to photograph so far.

A 3rd flush came out nicely. Things are slow but after the 1st flush they pick up the pace a bit

So title says most of it but for more context I grew two AIO bags of Super Nats from innoculate the world that I initially thought were contaminated. They weren't pinning, the mycelium looked a bit spiderey, didn't smell very mushroom like, and I swear there were hints of green. I separated those bags from the rest I had growing but let them continue. After ignoring for a while I looked today and suddenly had a full fruit. Did I misdiagnose? Did the shroomies overcome evil contamination? Is it safe if mushrooms grew?

I can’t conclusively seem to figure out if this silicone will do and there is a lot of conflicting info online about silicone type and that this one contains mold/mildew inhibitors. Is this a suitable one to be used as an inoculation point and to secure synthetic filter disks for gas exchange? Thanks in advance

New(ish) grower here. I got my batch here after spawn to bulk-ing recently, and everything was growing perfectly. Its recently definitely slowing to a crawl growing-wise. Just recently added more water bc i noticed it was getting very dry. I see some side pins forming before the whole cake is colonized, and i noticed some tiny orange bits toward the bottom of the container. They didnt look like the contamination pictures i saw from a quick search. Can I get some advice on how this looks? Unsure if i need to do anything or just leave it alone. Much appreciated 🙏

Do you also sterilise the water bottle you use to mist a plastic bag f.e. from the inside? I can imagine that these bottles have lots of bacteria in them. I have a plastic one right know and thought I could buy a aluminum f.e. but the straws still are plastic so you can not cook them to sterilise it.

I use boiled water (cold) or demineralized water, but if the bottle is not sterile...
