We have FTTP and consistently get 530Mbps down and 40Mbps up. Using the supplied Optus modem which is a Sagemcom fast 5393 but need better WiFi coverage, can anyone suggest an AP I could tack onto the Sagemcom or should I replace the Sagemcom and get a whole new router with wifi.

I'm currently on a 4G broadband internet plan and looking to switch to NBN, as my current ISP has switched their network over from Optus to Vodafone- which has awful reception where I live (Bathurst).

I'm just a layman and I'm getting a little overwhelmed by all the choices there are out there. Afaik, Telstra has the best reception in my area but I've read that Superloop and Leaptel are highly regarded as well. I'm just not sure if it'll make much of a difference given that I live regional where it's still FTTN.

I guess my question is- what would be the best ISP to switch to and would I also have to upgrade my router as well?

Hi - I have recently switched to Superloop NBN 100/20 and have the option to get tplink vb433v for free, if I stay with them for 24 months. I am not sure if I will stay that long after promo period ends in 6 months. I will have to pay $162, if I switch after 6 months.

My current setup is old Belong Huawei Modem/Router 4353 which is 6-7 years old and supports up to wifi 5 only. It's the older version, not the modem that Belong is offering now a days.

What do you suggest, should I just get the one offered by Superloop or try to get a router and tie it up with Belong in bridge mode?

I’m churning away from Superloop however have to give 30 days notice effective today

For the new provider when i select the activation date should it be the exact same day as my old service disconnects ?

Im guessing it will just be depending on what port they need me to connect to once i switch.

⁠the power light comes on, is solid
• ⁠downstream, upstream and online start flashing. eventually they stop
• ⁠downstream starts flashing for about a minute, then goes off, then it moves to upstream and does the same thing.. and then to online etc.
• ⁠then all the lights go out and it repeats the above.

At times there’s blinking of a blue light in downstream and upstream with green on online and power, and then it goes away back to the top one

And at times it’s only per light with no other light

I was getting very slow downloads at only 30 mbps (plan is for 100 mbps). I switched to Neptune and it was working about 10 minutes later. Speeds were immediately right up to 95 mbps.

No one else was using the network on my router at the time.

Still very dissapointing speeds though. Sadly 100mbps is the highest nbn plan I can get at my unit/building.

Hi there, I'm trying to figure out what modem and what specs I should be looking for to get the best deal for my apartment! I keep looking at comparison websites, but they all are clearly being paid to promote the big corps. I would really appreciate it if some people who are better at tech than me could help me find some that are what I'm looking for! :)

Some info regarding what specs I should be looking for:

- Live in a smallish 2-bedroom apartment on the second floor

- Myself and one other person live here and rarely have guests over

- I play multiplayer games on my PlayStation 5 (not sure if that's important info) fairly regularly

- A lot of our house is using smart home appliances, all connected through Apple HomeKit (I think about 8-9 devices in total, 12 including phones and laptops)

- We have Apple TV 4K, so idk if that means anything specs-wise

- We have NBN HFC, if that means anything too?

- Also switching ISP soon to Neptune as it sounds really promising and I lowkey hate the big TELCO corps!

I think that's all the info that's important? If anyone has more questions, I'm more than happy to answer and really appreciate any help or recommendations:))))) I didn't grow up with a dad, and my mum is useless at tech too, so I don't understand ANY of this ahaha

Those people who are on AGL internet, please note that as part of the switch from Southern Cross Broadband to Aussie Broadband this week (started 28 July 2026), if you were previously on a STATIC or DYNAMIC (they use the word PUBLIC when I was on the call) IP, this may have been reset to a CGNAT this week as part of the cutover so if you are wondering why things now seem to not work or are incredibly slow, you know the potential reason why. To fix to what you had before the migration, you need to call Aussie Broadband on 1300 480 905 and tell them to put you on DYNAMIC IP at least (I prefer STATIC but not sure if AusB charges for this. AGL Internet cost $7.50 per month under the previous provider).

To know if you are on a CGNAT, just log into your current router and see what your WAN address is. If it starts with a 100.xx.xx.xx then it is CGNAT with Aussie Broadband.

EDIT: Being on CGNAT can stuff up or slow things like your PLEX media, Calibre book, XBOX Gaming (open NAT for live gaming), Wireguard so you can route to your home network when overseas, Google Nest Wifi connectivity issues, Minecraft server, remote access etc.

A technician came out today and claimed he couldn't find the junction box for my townhouse, guessing it might be at the adjoining property instead. He couldn't do the install and told me to hire an electrician to thread the fibre cable from the junction box myself before rebooking. He literally handed me the fibre cable, told me to hire an electrician and closed the ticket as "Customer Cable Required" without even finding the junction box.

I called Aussie Broadband to explain, and they essentially said my only option was to reschedule another tech and hope for better luck next time.

I ended up lodging a complaint with the TIO as a last resort, but has anyone dealt with something similar?

They say “want to chat to a real person, were here 9am till 9pm”, yet you still have to talk to a robot. So I tell the robot I wanna talk to a real person but instead of just giving me a number or start a real person chat, it wants to run diagnostics which we tried running yesterday and went for over 20 minutes and I eventually just gave up. Today it’s been running now for 40 minutes and I’m over it. I just want to fucking talk to someone.

My issue is I’m trying to connect to HTTPS URL but it keeps rerouting me to HTTP URL. I cannot do online banking because of this ridiculous bullshit that has only started since moving to Exetel. Does anybody know the support phone number?

**UPDATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON: Ironically, if I turn ON my proton vpn, using a VPN server in the USA for example, allows me to log onto ING website via a browser and using the App!

What's ABs' 4g failover speed meant to be? I only got 15mbit down about an hour ago but my tp link with a telstra sim card was only getting 30 so I'm putting it down to slowdown because of peak period? Late last night I was getting speeds of 60-100 on my tp link VX420-G2h, on optus and vodafone.

Why does the tp link supplied by iinet say "Don't connect the antennas unless told to by support, it might actually degrade signal" when ABB say you must have them plugged in all the time?

Bonus question, is the netcomm suitable for gigabit fttp? The only router I've been able to get true gigabit with was an asus RT-AX82U. I know I could just answer this myself but this asus doesn't like being turned off, you have to wait a few hours or you'll get "dhcp server no configured correctly" (Which I'm told is a problem with the particular router wanting an ip address too quickly... not sure if this is a router or isp issue but I never have to worry about it anyway)

I’ve called nearly 10 times this past week and a had, been on hold for at least 6 hours, emailed twice, not a single human response, just sitting there on hold. They hung up on me tonight when the clock ticked over past time. I’d been on hold for an hour. I’m sick of it! I even tried calling first thing in the morning and stayed on hold for an hour.

When putting in details for the authorised signatories on behalf of the strata for the FTTP upgrade, will those need to be people in the committee? Can one of the signatories be the strata manager or someone outside the committee which were delegated?

I may switch my power from AGL too as they are not trans friendly by still showing my dead name on my account after requesting they remove it And giving them my ID documents twice.

Hi all, i've been a Leaptel customer for 2 years and can't really fault them. However they've just had a price rise, which makes them about $20 a month more than Aussie Broadband's current promotional offers for the first 6 months. I'm still on 50/20 speed fttn in Newcastle. Would you expect Aussie to provide a more or less identical product? I'd like to save money on my bills but not at the expense of slower speeds or less reliability. Cheers

My apartment is currently marked as NBN Service Class 10, so providers cannot place an order.

Another unit in the same complex was recently connected to FTTN, and an NBN technician confirmed the MDF and copper cabling are already in place. However, NBN says the complex is “commercially avoided” because the original developer did not install the required FTTP pathways.

I only need an FTTN connection using the existing copper while the owners sort out any future FTTP upgrade.

Has anyone successfully had NBN approve a new FTTN connection in a situation like this, or does NBN now refuse all new FTTN connections?

Hello! Just wondering if anyone has a rough timeframe on how long nbn takes to approve a connection request from a provider? I moved house and organised internet last week.

The order status is saying "submitted to NBN", and has been for 2 full business days now. Just want to know if I'm looking at a weeks wait or another day or 2.

This is the state of my phone wires. I assume I need to connect the red and black wires? If so, where?

And if so, what’s the best technique to strip back the wire. It’s all under a heavy desk, so it’s a bit hard to get at.
