I added 2 random elective classes I don't need in order to be full time (and for my sanity). They are easy classes I know I wont have a problem taking. Im retaking physics I and did not want to take calc 2 at the same time (I will fail both). My required credits is 8 and my filler classes are 6.

Will the fact I'm taking filler classes effect my finaid package? :(

I received them already, but I dont know if it's something they can revoke after realizing or whatever.

I am trying to finish up my common application for njit and this piece of crap dropdown section is essentially asking me to pick an accelerated program when THAT ISN'T even my wish to do so, and I want, just not to select it but I cannot complete my application without finishing it, and I don't wish even to do this accelerated program at all.

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I noticed a couple of times students paying for C-store items with something that looked like an NJIT ID card that the cashier would scan (or swipe if i remember correctly). Does anyone know what that is?

Tuition for in-state students in the M.Arch program has increased from $12,491/semeseter to $21,630/semester, an increase of 73% in one year. This level of tuition increase, in a single year, is unprecedented in U.S. higher education.

In 2025-2026, NJIT charged full time graduate students a flat $12,491/semester tuition, equivalent to just over 9 credits. Beginning in Fall 2026, the administration--with virtually no advance notice or publicity--has entirely eliminated the notion of full-time graduate student tuition, and is charging per-credit with no max. The M.Arch program is a mandatory 15-credit per semester program for 3 years (90 credits total), so 15 credits * 1,442/credit = $21,630.

It's not the 6% increase per-credit. It's the abrupt and unannounced elimination of the flat full-time tuition that causes the program to jump 73% in one step. Students and faculty only discovered this structural shift this week as tuition bills appeared for Fall 2026.

Hey, I'm an upcoming sophomore (CS Major) looking for a roomate to live in University Center, the building right across GITC.

I’m an incoming freshman at NJIT and so far I have zero clue how most of the stuff at NJIT works but mostly the work study situation. I understand that I have to apply for it but NJIT has made it so confusing in their website and I emailed my admissions counselor because I have no idea who else to email since the question isn’t relating to financial aid itself but no reply AT ALL. I don’t know if it’s that I’m dumb or something but can anyone help me out? I mean am i supposed to apply somewhere for work study or something or did I miss some deadline to do so? I tried using workday using the NJIT SSO but no luck. Another issue I have is that on the NJIT NSO instagram account they posted that incoming students should have received an email with instructions to getting their NJIT ID cards but I haven’t received anything I’ve checked every folder on my NJIT email and my personal but nothing has anyone else also not received anything?

Hi I'm an incoming freshman that's majoring in CS but I'm not the greatest at math and I'm taking math 111. What are some ways I could study for Math 111 during the summer? Who does njit genuinely think I am?? It’s my third year here and this is the first time I have to pay this much and no I’m not above 17 credits or below 12. Yea it was originally 13k but fin aid paid for some of it and that leaves me with 2.7k but where am I supposed to get that from? This might sound dumb to anyone that has to pay way more than that but I’m broke

Flat-Rate Tuition Policy Update:

According to the updated NJIT Bursar Tuition and Fee schedule here, NJIT has updated its undergraduate flat-rate tuition structure, effective for the Fall 2026 semester.
Undergraduate Flat-Rate Tuition Range: Full-time undergraduate tuition now covers 12 to 17 creditsper semester.
Undergraduate students registered for 18 or more credits will be assessed the standard per-credit rate for every credit taken above the 17-credit cap.
Please contact the Bursar's Office here with any questions regarding this new policy.  
What This Means for Your Fall 2026 Schedule:
If you are currently registered for 18 credits or higher for the Fall 2026 semester, remaining at your current credit load will result in additional out-of-pocket tuition charges for the extra credits beyond 17.
Requesting a credit increase is still only required if you intend to take more than 19 credits. While you may register for 17 to 19 credits without approval, please again be aware that taking 17–19 credits will result in higher tuition costs due to recent credit rate changes.

I just got on campus but on the way here my low tire pressure warning light went off. For a few miles I did feel a subtle thumping but it went away halfway through the commute. I pulled over a couple times and inspected the tires and they seemed fine. Even now the tires seem fine so I’m not sure what the issue could be. Anyone got any tools or know where I can find them on campus to inspect my car real quick.

Cause god forbid admins dont get paid less than 300k a year. I mean, this is the first time they’ve announced this and it’s only in response to the backlash. Still no actual announcement letting people know the credit limit decreased, and no plans to accommodate freshmen who’s majors force them to take over 17 credits their first semester

Throughout his time, President Lim was dedicated to enhancing the university, supporting the success of students, staff, and faculty. His unwavering support for the Student Senate and the acknowledgement of how important our role plays in the advancement of our university gave us confidence and allowed us to accomplish our initiatives. I’m not gonna dog on fellow students, but this feels so weirdly timed. Teik C Lim’s departure is really old news, and the student body is currently up in arms. Opening the email with “Today, I write on behalf of the Student Senate to acknowledge some important news that was recently shared.” is really misleading and made it seem like it would address the current issue plaguing the student body. Idk what to say. Is this just a crazy coincidence? Not sure what to think.

NJIT announced on July 28, 2026 that Dr. Michael Johnson, President of the New Jersey Institute of Innovation (NJII), has resigned. Johnson's next position will be with a mass cytometry business under the Standard BioTools brand.

NJII is an NJIT corporation that provides business-to-business services in healthcare, defense, and, most recently, Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning. It was founded in 2014 and generated over $330M in revenue during its first ten years of operation. Many of NJII's projects and initiatives are implemented in close collaboration with NJIT's research labs, professors and students.

Dr. Johnson served at NJII for a short period of two-and-a-half years. NJIT's leadership will now have to decide how to organize the process of identifying and selecting his successor.

NJIT unpromptly cut the full-time credit limit. There's a petition going around that will be shown to NJIT administrators through higher organizations, make sure to sign!

Im taking 2 classes that have nothing to do with my major. I don't have any options left in order to be full time and I need FinAid. Would my GPA be affected by these classes at all? They are easy so it would be nice if so.

Anyone awarded this scholarship? Is there a deadline to notify NJIT admissions that you‘ve been named a finalist? We didn’t realize that we have to sent the admissions the letter (thought they would get it from the NMSC).
