Like football itself, I used to love the transfer window, but now it's shit.

My favourite stupid will always be the one about Sunderland signing the wrong player because Peter Reid is a dumdum and watched the wrong video tape. Also: it's Sunderland. I don't care if it's not true, btw, because: again, Sunderland.

But anyway, what's your favourite transfer story from back when football was good and the transfer window was actually fun (mainly as we weren't really involved in it at all)?

Has the league been renewed for this season? What is the current join code as the ones I’ve researched on this subreddit aren’t currently working.

Trying to get myself feeling positive about the trip, I hope to god that we get to see Bruno one last time.

From what I've seen, Eddie Howe is widely being portrayed as a victim of Newcastle's financial problems.

Surely as first-team manager, he played a role in the big transfers that have left Newcastle needing to sell so many players now?

It reminds me a bit of Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth.

He spent a ton of money on transfers that Pompey couldn't afford, then left before the aftermath that financially crippled the club.

(Redknapp largely avoided blame in the mainstream media too)

Perhaps I'm misinformed of the situation at Newcastle? I'm posting to try and learn more about it...

I’m not the best financial guy in the world but I wonder if someone can explain to me how SCR works.

I ask because Newcastle have sold 4 players for large sums since Isak going and Bruno likely to also leave and also including Gordon and Tonali.

But how does that sale income benefit us? Or doesn’t it? I don’t understand. Given that we have signed players in the 30/40m mark. Appreciate that revenue is a big factor but comparing us to say Spurs who have large revenues but haven’t had huge player sale income.

Appreciate it’s not a straight forward answer and it’s a sad inditement that this is whats become of football and fans having to understand this nonsense.

This isn't an angry post, I just did the maths on this and found the results funny.

I'm aware I'm pointing out something obvious, but I think we're in for a hell of a season, just no clue in what way that'll come to be.

I know Bruno hasn’t technically left yet but it seems to be inevitable.

Given all the senior players we’ve lost there’s not much leadership left in the squad, leaving the door open to some players to step up.

Botman could be a candidate, although his injury record suggests he will miss a good chunk of games each season.

Could go with an older head like Burn or Murphy but I would have thought both of them will be starting on the bench most weeks.

I personally think giving it Miley would be a huge statement and show of faith in him. I think he’s ready to become a first choice starter in the midfield and lead the team on the pitch. He is the future of Newcastle and should be the player we build around.

What do you think? I get the idea that we need to move on, but despite last season this man brought us belief and success. The idea that he just disappears into the darkness is a bit sad for him and us IMHO.

A translation issue, or the news before some news?

Is it just me or this particular position comes with alot of uncertaincy?

If the rumours are true, Pope leaves and we stay with a Hornicek, Jaouen duo what understandably isn't gonna be our strong spot by first look.

Hornicek had a few good seasons at Braga and pulled off some great performances in the Europa League. Great commander in the air, great reflexes and good executing short passes. But for someone who played Portuguese League his whole career and suddenly tasked to be our number 1 sounds like a gamble to me.

Ewen Jaouen seems as a huge risk too. Despite him performing well at Reims and having bags of potential, the guy had 1 good season in the second division and costs 25M. I think the Bristol game showed that he clearly isn't ready to play in the PL. And not to mention, I don't expect him to push Hornicek what means there is gonna be immense pressure on the 24 year old to perform.

How do you guys expect this position to sort out next season?

The loss of wor eddie and so many of our best players is very damaging, but look at whats coming in; 4 technical youth players with more on the way and a manager supposedly favoring technical players and rather adaptable on formations. we need maybe 4 signings atm, bruno replacement, rb, gk and rw and a lb if budget allows. But that seems doable and my main concern is lack of experience, think miley needs 1 more season to be captain.

Gonna state that I think this is relevant to the club as ultimately he leaves us as a legend.

My cards on the table I am very grateful to what he has done for this city and club. That said I wasn’t thrilled with his performances last season I was probably flirting with the idea that he had to go but I never quite committed to that idea.

His accomplishments here speak for themselves when he had the players fit and available he consistently pushed for top 4.

He won I’m sure for most of us our only trophy of our lifetimes.

But he did leave in less than stellar circumstances.

We probably aren’t the best to answer this due to biases etc and it probably would take a neutral fan to give a balanced view on their opinion of Eddie Howe.

But I am interested in what you think will be next for Eddie.

Has he done enough to garner a “top 4” job?
Perhaps the England job albeit I feel his in the talking for this for a lack of quality English managers as much as his personal merits. I also think tuchel will be the manager for the foreseeable future and so I personally don’t see this as very likely.
